On Saturday night, Lithuania will decide its entry for Eurovision 2020 with the grand final of Pabandom iš naujo! 2020. Earlier this week we asked wiwibloggs readers who your favourite was among the finalists — and there was one clear winner.

Moniqué topped the poll with 1085 votes or 37.12% of the vote. The X Factor winner has long been on many fans’ wishlists for Eurovision. She’s finally making her national final debut with the synth-pop track “Make Me Human”. If Lithuania agrees with wiwibloggs readers, we could be hearing this song on stage in Rotterdam come May.

In second place is THE ROOP. Their song “On Fire” picked up 819 votes or 28.02% of the overall vote. The indie band is back for their second national final attempt. With “On Fire”, they have delivered a song with a song sound and striking visuals.

Third place goes to Rūta Loop. Her entry, the edgy pop track “We Came From the Sun”, earned 322 votes or 11.02% of the overall vote.

2019 finalist Monika Marija was fourth in the poll, with 272 votes (9.31%) for her song “If I Leave”. She was followed by KaYra with 197 vote (6.74%) for “Alligator”, Aistė Pilvelytė with 161 votes (5.51%) for “Unbreakable”, Meandi with 56 votes (1.92%) for “Drip” while The Backs were last with just 11 votes (0.36%) for “Fully”.

Poll results: Who should win the grand final of Lithuania’s ‘Pabandom iš naujo! 2020’?”

  1. Moniqué – “Make Me Human” 37.12% (1,085 votes)
  2. THE ROOP – “On Fire” 28.02% (819 votes)
  3. Rūta Loop – “We Came From the Sun” 11.02% (322 votes)
  4. Monika Marija – “If I Leave” 9.31% (272 votes)
  5. Kayra – “Alligator” 6.74% (197 votes)
  6. Aistė Pilvelytė – “Unbreakable” 5.51% (161 votes)
  7. Meandi – “Drip” 1.92% (56 votes)
  8. The Backs – “Fully” 0.36% (11 votes)

The grand final of Pabandom iš naujo! 2020 will take place on Saturday 15 February. Latvia’s newly selected singer Samanta Tīna will perform her song “Still Breathing” during the show.

I don’t see why juries must put Moniq 2st. She’s a weak performer. Even MM should appeal to them more imho. The guy from the Roop I’d better at performing. He manages to sing his way more upbeat song amazingly good & dance at the same time.
The Roop for the win! Instant catchy & charismatic!

This is still a four-horse race between Aiste, Monique, Monika Maria and THE ROOP. The jury, as always in Lithuania, is voting inconsistently over the shows, so it’s very hard to predict what their verdict in the final will be. My personal favourite instictively is THE ROOP, since I really enjoy the song and the performance. I understand though why Monique has so many supporters, because it’s a good song, regardless if it doesn’t come across very well live.

You’re probably right, especially regarding the televoting, but I still have some doubts about the jury ranking that might play a huge role in determining the final result.

I am really worried that Monika or Aiste could surprisingly win because of the Jury …

Jury/Televote:
Monika or Aiste 12/8
Monique 10/10
THE ROOP 8/12

In that case the Jury would decide the winner D:

It really is just a shame that after the duo of really good entries she had last year Monika Marija has barely registered with me this time around.

Monique is very good, but there are going to be a lot of artists similar to her in Rotterdam by the looks of things. Lithuania need a modern-sounding track with a good hook and engaging staging, and while Monique could do that well, I think the Roop could do it even better, so I’m hoping they’re Lithuania’s representatives.

I think if Monique concentrates on vocals and precision and doesn’t exprperiment she will be the jury winner. She will probably come 2nd in the televote behind the roop but she will still win because she won the jury vote.

Monique is freaking awesome! She would be the most modern Lithuanian entry ever.

Monique would be a stunning choice. I just cannot see Europe responding well to The Roop. They have long since moved away from that style of music and considering Lithuania’s success in 2018 it would make sense to send Monique, a strong jury pleaser with a televoter allure.

Whilst I agree that overall, Monique will probably be the best choice, you cannot judge an entire continent’s music tastes. I’m from the Uk and I absolutely love The Roop and their song, yes, it reminds us of the early to mid 2000s eurovision, when things were a bit more ‘out there’ and surreal in terms of music style and performance, but it is well constructed with a killer beat and most importantly it is memorable. These kinds of songs and performances, which are fun and surreal don’t come along much now and I really think the ESC audience, especially… Read more »

I highly doubt Make Me Human would appeal to European televoters. The Roop have a far better chance than Monique in that respect.
Remember, a ballad needs to be really special to appeal to one-time viewers (Amar Pelos Dois, Arcade, You Let Me Walk Alone) and amongst 40 other songs Monique’s song is not going to seem that special.

I’m exactly the same, I don’t want either of them to miss out! They both bring compete polar opposites in terms of their song but each is equally good in its own genre.

Who I want to win? KaYra. But who will win? I give 25% to Monique, Monika Marija, The Roop and Aiste Pilvelyte. Each of them has been a jury or televote winner in their semi and it really can go in any direction from here. It will depend on who has bigger televoting power – Monique or The Roop and who does the jury push harder for – Monika or Aiste? It’s a small chance that one act will win on both fronts. It’s actually possible that someone who is second on both fronts wins in the end.

I am really worried Aist? Pilvelyt? might win; she has done really well with juries and televote, but I think the song lacks something special and would really just get lost at Eurovision – a bit like Run with the Lions last year.

I agree 100% with THE ROOP or Moniqué but Rüta Loop? Eh not so much
