We haven’t heard much from Vincent Bueno since Austrian broadcaster ORF confirmed him as their act for Eurovision 2021. But he’s been hard as work creating his Eurovision entry for Rotterdam. Now Vincent has shared an update showing progress from the recording studio.
In a video uploaded to his Instagram account, Vincent has shared some scenes from the recording studio in Zürich, Switzerland, working on his song for Rotterdam.

Vincent Bueno assembles his creative team
Vincent is working with the Swiss producer Pele Loriano who will be the co-producer of the song as well as proving backing vocals. Pele has substantial experience with both Eurovision and the former Swiss national final. He recently co-wrote Jurij Veklenko’s “Run With the Lions”. Vincent describes Pele as “The one who pushed me to my limits.”
The main producer of the song is the iconic Swedish producer Jonas Thander with lyrics and melody by another Eurovision national final regular, the UK songwriter Ashley Hicklin.
Vincent has also confirmed that his staging will be done by the Austrian creative producer Marvin Dietmann. Marvin was behind the glamorous staging for Conchita in 2014 and Cesár’s spaceship in 2018. He’ll also be doing the staging for Cyprus act Elena Tsagrinou this year.
But while Vincent is happy to introduce his team, his Eurovision song is still under wraps. The music heard in the video is older songs from Vincent. But the body language of Vincent and his producers suggests it’s an uptempo tune, possibly in a similar genre to last year’s “Alive”.
Back in December, on an Austrian radio show, Vincent confirmed that the song will probably be presented in March. Broadcaster ORF hasn’t given an official release date yet.
Vincent Bueno’s Eurovision journey
Vincent competed in the Austrian national final in 2016 with “All We Need Is that Love”. It received a mid-table score from the jury and didn’t make it to the superfinal.
The following year he supported his friend Nathan Trent in Kyiv, providing backing vocals for “Running On Air” and getting some Eurovision experience.
Last year Vincent was internally selected by ORF to represent Austria at Eurovision 2020. He was due to perform the funky track “Alive” before Eurovision 2020 was cancelled.
In March, ORF confirmed that Vincent had been given the return ticket to Rotterdam and would again represent Austria at Eurovision.
What do you expect from Austria at Eurovision 2021? Which style should Vincent bring to the contest? Let us know in the comments below.
Very much looking forward to his entry. I assume we will see an improvement to last year‘s song. Eberhard Forcher, the ESC scout in ORF, is enthusiastic about his entry – that‘s a good sign. (He was not really enthusiastic about Paenda‘‘s Limits and said it was a risky entry – unfortunately proven right in the actual contest).
forcher picked paenda, though. let’s not forget that.
He is not – of course. Far worse are people who in the anonymity of the internet insult other people baselessly.
And why is he a homophobe?
Guys Dietman is for Cyprus. Greece is Evangelinos
Many artists are presenting uptempo songs this year, that might backfire in some way when there is plenty to choose from
After 2020, do we really want slow sad ballads?
Ballads don’t have to be slow nor sad. Bops tend to be sad, contradictory to their otherwise fun beats.
Well not as much as in 2020, but some ballads would be nice to even up the competition
All in all another entry that we will get to listen to in March. As for Dietmann, I think he’ll be behind Cyprus’ staging, I think Greece is going with Fokas Evangelinos.
