Preparations for the third semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 are well underway ahead of Saturday’s show. And now, we’ve been given our first glimpse of the stage performances that each of the seven acts will bring, following the release of rehearsal clips.

Earlier today, Swedish broadcaster SVT released one-minute audio snippets of all the songs competing in semi-final three. But, any Melfest or Eurovision knows that the visual elements can be a deal breaker when it comes to a contestant’s chances of succeeding or flopping.

Throughout today, each of Charlotte Perrelli, Emil Assergård, Klara Hammarström, Mustasch, Elisa, Alvaro Estrella and Tusse have undertaken a full rehearsal on this year’s Melodifestivalen stage. Short 30-second segments of the rehearsal recordings have been released as the latest teaser of what fans can expect from each act on Saturday evening.

Click on the song titles to watch the rehearsal clips:

Full performances will be broadcast live on Saturday night from 20:00 CET on SVT1 and SVT Play. The recordings of the performances that don’t earn one of the top two places of the semi-final (i.e. those going to Andra Chansen and those that do not qualify at all) will be uploaded to YouTube shortly afterwards.

The performance videos of the two songs that are heading direkt till final will not be uploaded to digital channels until after the fourth semi-final has taken place in just over one week from now.

This final for sure has no stand out for me. at all. I deff think Dotter will win this whole thing.

So unless The Mamas or Eric Saade have a really good song prepared next Saturday, Dotter will easily win Melodifestivalen this year! #DOTTERDAM

Charlotte Perrelli’s song got the boost from the live performance that I expected. She’s probably the 2nd DTF as things stand but *could* slip into AC just because, she’s Charlotte Perrelli. Klara has the song in this semi that I seem to be most interested in. I ranked her pretty highly last year and this sounds more promising and she looks more confident. She should be able to get an AC spot. Tusse should have this SF easily and should be a contender for the Melfest win. I do think it’ll be the same situation with Sweden if they pick… Read more »

These are good songs, but comparing to previous Mello years? Well not the best at all, seems like the stand out songs are missing.

Dotter is the only one who could do well in eurovision until now..

I still don’t find the “winner alert” on Tusse’s song… and the performance doesn’t look interesting… on the other hand, the performances of “La Perrelli” and Klara looks interesting to me…. and please, can someone explain me the outfit and hairstyle of Alvaro? He looks sooooo cheap, even more vulgar than the phrase “dame tu cosita” (give me your pussy) in his song

The Tusse song doesn’t do anything for me… but it seems it’s what Sweden loves to send to ESC – generic soulless male pop songs. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it wins. And then ends up in the top 10 in May, but in the bottom 5 of the televote.
Honestly among all the 21 first acts we’ve seen so far, Dotter is to me miles ahead of the others (but the overall level is quite low…).

In fairness the only song they´ve sent recently to finish outside of the top 10 in the televote is benjamin. Sweden generally does fine there even if the jury score is always better.

A Esc fan: All Swedens 28 songs are generic. A ESC fan: All other countries have original songs , not Sweden. haha

I felt so in love with Dotter’s Litte tot laat week, I don’t want any other song to be good so she can win. Sorry hahah

does anyone think that The Mamas will just bring a very joyous clap along anthemic song with top notch vocals next week and that will win over both the juries and the Swedes who think they didn’t get their chance to represent them last year? I think the appeal of The Mamas is how universally loved they are across age groups and their ability to vocally being the most on point performers…they also exude class, happiness and relateability

I think Tusse might win the whole Melfest. It’s not my thing but It’s that kind of generic polish track that juries vote in Melfest and Esc. Also vocals help. We all know.

The odds are on fire for Sweden this week, even more than for last week and for the Dotter hype…., what’s happening?!
I mean there’s not real reasons here, but I suspect Hill the bookmaker to have a fetishism towards Sweden in eurovision, lol.

I mean Sweden usually does well in ESC, it’s not surprising that the odds reflect that right now.

I‘m quite on edge. International fans clearly want Dotter to win, but the media and some more Swedes are hyping up Tusse like crazy. And I really don‘t get it. I find his song generic and honestly so forgettable. He will definitely go DTF but I hope he won‘t win. His song would not do well at Eurovision.

Well, Dotter 100%. She did well with the juries and Swedish public last year and international fans love Little Tot. In the end, that is what counts at Eurovision.

I think, the next alternative will be Eric. But this is obviously just a guess. As of today, my alternative would be Anton, even though I know that is not very likely.

Yeah though weve seen a billion times that the eurovision fans opinion can have absolutely zero correlation with the actual casual fans who vote at eurovision.

I think dotter so far has the best chance of winning melfest. But theres no way in hell she is good enough to deserve sweden pushing up to 3rd in the odds. And if Eric has anything decent he will win without any sweat.

Fans and bookies were hyping Dotter like crazy last year. and in the moment of truth, it was so close for Swedes between Dotter, Mamas, Hanna and Anna.
We never know. Fans are one thing. Juries another. And Locals another.

Yup, and that‘s exactly why I‘m on edge. Because to me, the case is clear: So far, Dotter‘s song is the best AND most suitable.

Dotter still my winner, with Paul Rey, Danny and Anton behind her. Tusse’s song is good, but I really can’t see this being the winner – it’s quite a static performance.

There is something really appealing and ironically fresh about the vintage vibes from Charlotte’s song I find! And I fully realize that is a contradiction but I really think there is something to it. Ah well, looking forward to see the performances for this semi.

Tusse has an amazing voice but there is something that is missing from the staging or the ‘presentation’ of the song. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure he will go through, I just don’t know if he will win Melo. At minimum I hope he comes back with a stronger song. 🙂

I’m very surprised to hear people think this is a weak semi. I thought last week’s semi was incredibly weak (with the exception of Dotter), while this week I’m enjoying most of the songs based on the snippets. I look forward to Saturday! 🙂

Last week I liked Rena Rama ding dong , Tears run dry and Little tot.

This week I like ………….(maybe skip melodifestovalen entirely and watch MGP)
This week’s songs from Sweden are not that good. You might like a few but not three . So yeah

Waiting to see the entire performances, in terms of staging, Klara stands out, in terms of song Mustasch stands out for sure.
I’m not really feeling the two favorites songs of this semi, Tusse it’s ok it’s good but I’m not ecstatic, Charlotte same, it’s anthemic, not bad but nothing new, not dated but almost.
No winner vibes here…..

In the snippet Klara’s staging looks empty . She’s wearing Laura’s dress from 2016 and she has lost a lot of weight , and it’s making her face look hollow.

This semi is quite hard to predict.
I don’t get the hype around tusse, the song is nothing special..
Also, it looks like Álvaro is doing some lipsync!
For now, mustach and Emil are my picks.

Tusse will win this easily. No doubt.
Then Alvaro Estralla (How come Sweden does despofuego songs better than Spain…) and Mustach (although this pales compared to Blind Side…). The lady in wonder woman costume looks interesting visually, but not musically, yet I reckon it will fetch few votes here and there (kids, straight men, drunk youngsters, high teenagers..)

This semi has some weak songs and one really strong song! Here is what I think it will happen on Saturday night based on the rehearsal clips: DTF 1.Tusse – Strongest song of the semi. Easy DTF here. 2.Alvaro – I really don’t like the song but Swedes have fallen in love with the latin vibe. However, it could be a shocking disqualification in the end of the night. Andra Chansen 3.Charlotte Perrelli – Her comeback looks promising – the song sounds like an anthem! I have a good feeling that she might even qualify DTF. 4,Klara – The song… Read more »

After seeing the video clips, my mind hasn’t changed. Mustasch will easily qualify because of being different in the bunch. Tusse will also qualify due to the hype, last position and weakness of this semi. None of these songs will be able to contend for the crown this year, imo.

After watching clips I still think Dotter is the one to beat. I dont think a winner comes from here. That said Tusse slayed it and should win this heat easily!

Not sure. He is a newcomer with no established fanbase. That only worked for Frans and Begendahl. I can see him doing a Bishara though..
That is why I think Dotter has the edge!
