He’s the Hollywood star with a big love of Eurovision. And now Will Ferrell has publicly confirmed that his love of Norway’s Eurovision selection Melodi Grand Prix may be even bigger.

The actor — known to many as Lars Erickssong from the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga — filmed a short clip for NRK ahead of tonight’s grand final.

Will Ferrell loves Norway’s Eurovision selection Melodi Grand Prix

“You know I love Eurovision, but maybe even more the Melodi Grand Prix,” he says, sporting an on-trend lumberjack beard.

“You have so many beautiful, beautiful — or should I say interesting — songs. Those angels wings — I mean, they looked great on TIX, didn’t they? And the evil eyes on Rein Alexander.  They were really spooky.”

“But most of all I love the magnificent host Kåre Magnus Bergh and his roller skates.” Very Blades of Glory, right?

Will recently joked that he hated Norway in a playful Super Bowl ad for General Motors. The commercial touted Norway’s amazing record for buying electric cars and his desire to help the United States catch up.

“We’re gonna crush those lugers,” he says as he hits the road in one of GM’s EVs.

Will’s love of Eurovision has been covered extensively in recent months owing to the success of Fire Saga.

Will, who spent several years researching and developing the Netflix movie, landed a nomination in the Comedy Movie Star of 2020 category at the E! People’s Choice Awards. His character Lars may not have been the most talented singer, but the real-life actor behind him has definitely made an impact in bringing him to life.

The film has also won plaudits for its music, securing a coveted Grammy nomination. America’s Recording Academy nominated it in the “Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media” category. In layman’s terms, that’s the category for best movie soundtrack.

At least we know he’s cool with Norway! (Also, I was watching the Super Bowl with my housemates and I pointed out how funny his getting lost in Sweden was since his wife is Swedish).
