OGAE Poll 2021: Germany gives 12 point to Lithuania

The annual Eurovision fan prediction poll is well underway. And the next club to deliver their votes in the OGAE Poll 2021 is OGAE Germany, who award their douze points to Lithuania’s The Roop. This is the second set of 12 points for The Roop, pushing “Discoteque” up to joint second position overall.

The club of 73 voters named Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears their second favourite. The current poll leader picks up ten more points to extend his lead. Meanwhile, France’s Barbara Pravi picks up eight points.

Further down the scoreboard, Denmark’s Fyr og Flamme and Norway’s TIX picked up their first points of the season.

Votes from OGAE Germany

  • Lithuania — 12 points
  • Switzerland — 10 points
  • France — 8 points
  • Malta — 7 points
  • San Marino — 6 points
  • Denmark — 5 points
  • Iceland — 4 points
  • Sweden — 3 points
  • Ukraine — 2 points
  • Norway — 1 point

OGAE Poll 2021 leaderboard — 19 April

With seven clubs voting, Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears is still in the lead. Lithuania and France are currently tied at second place, with Malta in fourth just two points behind. San Marino rounds out the top five.

With Norway and Denmark receiving their first points, 18 countries are still on zero points. But there are still 35 more clubs yet to deliver their points, so it’s still all to play for!

1. Switzerland — 68 points

2. Lithuania — 49 points

(=) France — 49 points

4. Malta — 47 points

5. San Marino — 37 points

6. Cyprus — 33 points

7. Italy — 24 points

8. Sweden — 21 points

9. Croatia — 13 points

10. Azerbaijan — 10 points

(=) Ukraine — 10 points

12. Iceland — 9 points

13. Finland — 8 points

14. Romania — 7 points

15. Denmark — 5 points

16. Greece — 4 points

(=) Estonia — 4 points

(=) Serbia — 4 points

19. Israel — 2 points

20. Norway — 1 point

(=) Russia — 1 point

Countries that are not listed are yet to receive points from any voting clubs.

Between now and Sunday 2 May, half of the groups voting in the OGAE Poll 2021 will reveal their points one by one. Then, the remaining groups will announce their points at the same time on Friday 7 May in a grand final video spectacle.

What do you think? Who are you awarding your douze points to? Who will win the OGAE Poll 2021? Sound off in the comments below.

Actually, I’m not surprised at all about those twelve points for Lithuania. But even though this is only one of Germany’s two OGAE member clubs (why’s that, btw and ffs?) and the other one’s results might differ greatly, it’s kind of eyebrow-raising … Even though Germany and its neighbouring countries never really shared some sort of Scandinavian or Balkan voting alliance, one would and could expect them to vote for their neighbours once they’ve got winning material at hand – especially if it’s one of the German-speaking neighbours. So, what I mean to say … maybe this vote indicates it… Read more »

I think it’s really interesting that the odds and also many fans see Bulgaria as a safe qualifier or even a potential winner, but it’s getting almost no YouTube views or Spotify streams (and I’m really not exaggerating when I say almost none) and so far no points in this poll. Will be really interesting to see how it will do in May…

Bulgaria chose the least fan-friendly song, on MyEurovisionTop app it was 6th out of 6 Bulgaria’s songs, on Youtube it had scored the least views before announcing this song, maybe the fans are still salty over Imaginary Friend or Ugly Cry.

Kristian

It was last on the app yes . But it had the lowest views as it was released last. Still Imaginary friend and Ugly cry were the most loved and since Bulgaria decided to get fans involved in the selection , they should have listened to the fans .

Its one of these songs that are better live than as a studio i think. Look what happened with Portugal 2017 and Russia 2019. Not that many people like them as a studio version, but they elevated with the live perormance. I think Viktoria can create a moment with good staging and performance and create a moment. She still can end up with very good result. Look also at Austria 2018 and N. Macedonia 2019, no one thought they would win the jury votes and be in top 10.

If you asked me “which country would definitely give 12 points to Switzerland this year”, my first thought would be Germany (or France, because of, you know, the language) but what a pleasant surprise! The Roop deserve the 12 points here in the OGAE because (and I am so sad to say that) I think their result in the contest will not be as high as we expect it to be… 🙁

Btw Ireland, Belgium, Greece and Bulgaria STILL underrated

Finally it seems that to reveal their songs and to be chosen among the firsts is not so a disadvantage here seeing the scores of Lithuania and France. The Ogae members follow the national finals season very deeply as all the eurofans and I thought they could be tired of these songs, Voilà was released at the beginning of December and Discoteque at the beginning of January, Voilà was the 3rd out of 39 to be officially chosen, Discoteque was the 4th, and they still love it a lot so it’s a good sign I think.

I find their long waited reveals annoying and since you’re pointing out that an early release will not do harm , If they have the song ready they should release it in appropriate time and now pointlessly wait for the deadline.

I find it annoying too cause I’m really impatient each years to have all the songs, to judge them, to compare them, to see the potential in them or not, to find who has chances to win, it’s an exciting moment for all the eurofans, but finally if we had all the songs in February for example and all at the same time, it wouldn’t be funny and it would be boring. To have songs revealed until 15th of March, it’s a little bit annoying yeah but at the same time it makes the excitment and the pleasure to discover… Read more »

I don’t think order matters. Germans are people who value professionalism and quality. I do not expect such good results for Lithuania from such countries as Cyprus, Malta or Slavic countries. Perhaps Sweden and Switzerland can vote for them.

Lithuania is a good song, why they wouldn’t deserve good results? You said Germans value professionalism and quality so seeing their 12 points here, it’s a good sign for Lithuania, maybe you don’t like it, it’s ok but you can’t deny it’s a quality song with a very professional and charismatic performer.

This is my country song and my favorite band. But I can already see that Cyprus did not give them a single point, and Malta and Cyprus gave each other 12 points. Neighbors voting, in addition, I noticed that the musical tastes of cross-border groups differ.

All hope for an audience at eurovision 2021 has just been lost by the way. Because of a public outcry against field lab events a lot of events are being cancelled at the moment. Politicians always want to go with the popular opinion and there is no way they’ll allow a eurovision audience now..

Really!!? Why some people do that? Eurovision is something so special , so exceptionnal, it happens so rarely in a country, people should understand and support this event instead of doing petitions, I can’t understand that. The organizers have done all they can to make this event more secured than ever, so I can’t understand these people trying to ruin all the works that has been done since 2 years now.

It’s not a petition specifically against eurovision (altough a lot of ignorant people would also sign against this since they have no clue at all about the safety precautions) but more to cancell fieldlab tests with audience experiments in general 🙁

It’s sad, these people should already know that an experimental concert was held in Barcelona, and it works very well without issues. This Eurovision could show to the world that even with this f…ing covid, it’s possible to organize big shows and concerts with an audience and without risks. People of The Netherlands your country could be a worldwide example, so let’s do this.

1) Cyprus geographically is in Middle East, but the majority of its residents are Greek=Balkans
2) If you see German votings, actually, they usually tend to support their neigbouring countries and Australia, Sweden and Norway making a voting ”bloc” (oh they support also Italy way too much, but this is not for that reason)
The ”Scandinavian” bloc actually isn’t only Scandinavian as Germany and Australia by far are part of it, while countries like Netherlands and Belgium tend to support them

We’ve a pattern. I can say results till now is an indicator for top 15 and top 10 and top 5. The final result will be the same with changes within these intervals. One of the top 5 will be the winner, from 10 to 6 will be these countries (+/- 1 country) etc
