Eurovision 2021 will see 13 male solo singers take to the stage of the Rotterdam Ahoy arena. These men are bringing a variety of songs to the contest this year, from ballads, to pop, to soul and more.
They’re all hoping to follow in Duncan Laurence’s footsteps, who was the last male solo singer to win Eurovision in 2019.
We asked you to vote for your favourite of these 13 talented men. After counting a total of 7,059 votes, we now have a result…
Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears is your favourite male solo singer of Eurovision 2021
The gold medal in this poll is awarded to Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears. His entry “Tout l’univers” won by quite a large margin, picking up 2,097 votes – that’s 29.71% of the total.
Gjon’s Tears has remained a steady favourite since the release of his Eurovision 2021 song. The Swiss star sits in the top three with the bookies and is also currently leading the OGAE fan vote.
He’s also clearly a favourite with our readers, as they awarded him over 1,300 votes more than the poll runner-up.
Speaking of the runner-up, the silver medal goes to Tusse from Sweden. His song “Voices” earned 721 votes (10.21% of the total). Tusse won Sweden’s prestigious Melodifestivalen on his first attempt, and he’ll be aiming to continue the country’s strong set of recent results at Eurovision.
The bronze medal goes to the United Kingdom’s James Newman. The British singer-songwriter is bringing the fire with his upbeat song “Embers”, which received 653 votes (9.25%). While the UK has not had the best results at the contest over the past decade, it seems our readers see James Newman as a favourite amongst these 13 gentleman at least – perhaps the UK’s journey up the scoreboard begins here.
Rounding out the top five are Spain’s Blas Cantó and Norway’s TIX. Both men are bringing ballads to Eurovision 2021, but with a slightly different flavour.
Blas and TIX were the only other acts in the poll to be awarded more than 500 votes.

It’s atmospheric (which means it has great staging capabilities) and Gjon has an incredible vocal range.

I can sort of see the resemblance, given the same songwriter (Wouter Hardy) played a role in creating both Arcade AND Tout L’Univers. However, several differences make the two entries very distinguishable, and language isn’t the only one. Normally when two songs really are similar, most people start identifying patterns in the chord structure and melodic similarities. A much bigger case would be with Cyprus, but that’s another story.
