Babara Pravi Voila France Eurovision 2021

Thirty-nine countries are gearing up for Eurovision 2021 rehearsals, which begin on Saturday. And while most must contend with the semi-finals, a lucky six go direct to the grand final. These automatic qualifiers are the reigning winner and this year’s host the Netherlands plus the Big Five — France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Since March, we’ve been asking y’all to pick your favourites. And the votes are in.

France’s Barbara Pravi is your favourite automatic qualifier at Eurovision 2021…before rehearsals

After counting a total of 11,545 votes, we can reveal that France’s Barbara Pravi is your favourite automatic qualifier before rehearsals. The “Voilà” chanteuse picked up 3,954 votes or 34.25% of all votes cast.

The entry is also proving popular with both the bookies and OGAE Poll voters. Here’s how our Oliver reviewed the number back in January:

Barbara Pravi signals a return to French excellence with this masterpiece track. “Voilá” is meticulously crafted, with all parts working together in harmony to immerse the listener. Pravi spins a chilling yet enchanting tale of desperation and melancholy. And although the instrumentation is simple, it is an extremely effective backdrop for Pravi’s magical vocal. Right through the final descent into madness during the coda, “Voilà” grips you so you can’t look away. It’s an obvious contender for the French ticket. The real question is, how will it hold up at Eurovision 2021? With the right staging, France could be on to a winner. Expect a top ten finish in Rotterdam.

In second place is the country which regularly performs best of the Big 5 — Italy. Rockers Måneskin took 26.79% of the vote. That’s 3,093 votes for “Zitti e buoni”.

Italy and France are a long way ahead. No other entry passed the 3,000 vote threshold. In fact, only one other entry reached four digits — the United Kingdom’s James Newman. The “Embers” bopmaker received 2,074 votes or 17.96% of all votes cast.

Poll results: Who is your favourite automatic qualifier at Euroivison 2021?

  1. France: Barbara Pravi “Voilà” 34.25% (3,954 votes)
  2. Italy: Måneskin “Zitti e buoni” 26.79% (3,093 votes)
  3. United Kingdom: James Newman “Embers” 17.96% (2,074 votes)
  4. Germany: Jendrik “I Don’t Feel Hate” 7.92% (914 votes)
  5. Spain: Blas Cantó “Voy a quedarme” 7.68% (887 votes)
  6. Netherlands: Jeangu Macrooy “Birth of a New Age” 5.4% (623 votes)

Total Votes: 11,545

Do you agree with the results? Is France your favourite? Let us know in the comments.

To my own surprise, I enjoy (and probably gonna vote for) all big 5 entries this year!

France/quality
Italy/sassiness
Germany/guilty pleasure
UK/bop?
Spain/well…Blas is adorable
Unfortunately, Birth of a new Age is not in my playlist, still I appreciate the effort, the message and the uniqueness

Wow that’s a big difference actually. Didn’t expect that big of a margin between Italy and France.

Anyway, I would be DELIGHTED if one of them takes the trophy (the other 4 have really slight chances, unfortunately)

FRANCE: 24 tops: 11 tops 3, 13 tops 10
ICELAND: 24 tops: 10 tops 3, 14 tops 10

Iceland too maybe….
The thing is that these jurors judge the songs on music videos mainly and Israël’s mv is stunning.
So let’s see the real performances.
The thing that is weird is that San Marino got votes only from 4 countries out of 40 and only a top 3, because the San Marino’s mv is stunning too imo and they should have the same amount of love than Israël in that case.

And maybe that high note at the end appeals a lot, and more than we thought. Israël have been smart on this one I think and it’s awarded now, will it be the same in the contest, answer very soon.

I can’t wait to see how jeangu will bring ‘birth of a new age’ to the eurovision stage. I guess it will be very colorful and I think his led animations will tell a story of empowerment. Like with focus on the yu no man broko mi ‘you can’t break me’ line.

France has the best song, yes. I also think Netherlands has a very special song that cannot be appreciated in 3 minutes on stage. Spain has an emotional ballad which would need a dramatic staging to convey the meaning of the song. Germany has the lightheart fun and silly song which stucks to your head. Italy once again is serving us quality but in a different way this year. UK is sending one of their best songs in years.

Alex
Alex

Very good songs but most of them are not strong enough.

I would love to see the Big 5 taking part in the semifinals. It would’ve have been more interesting in general and they would put more effort i think. Plus, the viewing rates would be higher.

Italy is giving me winning vibes from the very beginning. In my opinion, the favorites to win the whole contest. France is also a big contender obviously. Other than that, “Embers” is a hit or miss. Even though I wanna see the UK finally getting a good result, I think it will probably be a 17th-24th place for them. Germany and Spain will probably end in bottom 5(almost certain about Spain’s result) and, at last, I could see The Netherlands getting a surprisingly good result(top 15). That’s just my opinion, I may be way off at the end haha

It’s impossible an american-punk rock of 00s to win this esc. Top 10 for sure.
It’s impossible the 2021 version of Edith Piaf’s padam padam to win this esc. Top 10 for sure.
UK could reach top 18 due to his professional and solid vocals.
Spanish song could reach top 20.
Holland somewhere between 25th to 18th.
And Germany is locked in the bottom 5.

If it’s impossible for everybody nobody will win then….. and it’s impossible 😉 …..then who? Since years now I’ve learned to not to use too much “impossible” or “never” when it’s about Eurovision, because in Eurovision everything is possible.
However it’s not the 2021 version of Padam Padam, it’s “Voilà” simply.

But if you are so sure of the winner this year why he has only 30% of winning chance and not 100 %. .
However Bulgaria more chances than France or Cyprus less chances than Greece….not sure about that.

Ireland and The Netherlands will have an epic staging too but you don’t tipped them…..
Seeing how Bulgaria’s song has charted in Spain with the casusal viewers and seeing how France’s song has charted too, I’m not sure of this. France has done even better than Switzerland in the spanish charts.
So everything is still possible.

you need both a good song and epic staging to win Eurovision. ireland and the netherlands don’t have winning songs. also i wouldn’t look too much into charts. ingrosso was like fifth in the charts before the melfest 2018 final whilst mendez was first.

It can give indications of how the casual viewers could react to a song the D-day.
It gives the indication if a song has appeal outside the bubble or not for example.

But I’m not talking about to chart in your own country but in others countries.
When you have 3 songs in competition that have the possibility to be sung publicly in the same country that is not their own, here Spain for example, these songs were sung in a show totally outside of Eurovision and the bubble, then I think the manner how they charted after having been shown is a good indication of how the casual viewers could react the D-day without esc bias,

Yeah, I think Italy will be great live and thrive in their performance. France is ready made. For the UK, I think a lot rides on having spectacular staging to match the bang of the song. Spain could be a dark horse. I feel like Germany will be the most marmite—loved or loathed—depending on how well they stage the message of the song and how charismatic Jendrik can be.

Jeangu is fantastic and I really hope his result for the host country is more Frans and less The Makemakes.
