Preparations for the second heat of Melodifestivalen 2022 are well underway ahead of Saturday’s show. And now, we’ve been given our first glimpse of the stage performances that each of the seven acts will bring, following the release of rehearsal clips.

Yesterday, Swedish broadcaster SVT released one-minute audio snippets of all the songs competing in heat two. But, any Melfest fan or Eurovision fan knows that the visual elements can be a deal breaker when it comes to a contestant’s chances of succeeding or flopping.

Throughout the day on Friday, LIAMOO, Niello & Lisa Ajax, Samira Manners, Alvaro Estrella, Browsing Collection, John Lundvik and Tone Sekelius had a full rehearsal on this year’s Melodifestivalen stage. Short 30-second segments of the rehearsal recordings have been released as the latest teaser of what fans can expect from each act on Saturday evening.

Melodifestivalen 2022: Rehearsal clips from heat 2

Click on the song titles to watch the rehearsal clips:

Full performances will be broadcast live on Saturday night from 20:00 CET on SVT1 and SVT Play.

My personal top Tone (My favorite!) Liamoo (He always delivers, 100% sure he’s going to place first this heat) Alvaro (Actually his best attempt!) – – – Samira/Lisa + Niello/Browsing collection/John (I don’t like any of these songs, so let the best one get through) If sweden has to vote, then i think they will vote like this… Liamoo John (Just like Robin last week) Alvaro Tone Lisa + Niello Browsing collection Samira I just wish every Deltavling would atleast have one winner contender I really hope that Tone gets through and i really hope that John doesn’t :/ i’m… Read more »

Here’s my 7 cents Liamoo: He’s still the best in this heat and should go DTF, but I doubt that this is the next Melfest winner. Niello & Lisa Ajax: I’m quite torn on this one (sorry, bad pun). I liked parts of the studio cut and the performance looks tasteful and cohesive. This could really go either way. Samira Manners: The staging reminded me of Clara Klingenström last year, which is definitely a good thing. Again, it can go either way. Alvaro Estrella: I constantly feel bad for Alvaro using his ethnicity to pander to the Swedish audience with… Read more »

Don’t know why everyone’s complaining. This is a genuinely competitive heat where pretty much all of the songs have a chance of qualifying. It’s going to be actually interesting to watch.
Or should we do like last week and artificially create excitement by putting the two weakest song through to AC for no reason? 😉

Tone has a costume change, camp pop song with lyrics that were new in 1990s and the hairstyle was fresh in 2005 – if this isn’t a drag act then what would be! Outdated and awful, let’s hope Swedes won’t be tone deaf tomorrow.

LIAMOO is a clear winner of this heat (and song is quite nice), but Cornelia Jakobs is miles better than anyone so far.

Alvaro serging Elena Tsagrinou – Cyprus 2021 male staging – bordeline DTF – ACH Ok (Liamoo is my number 1 of this heat) – staging looks amazing, reminds mi Lisa Ajax/Anton 2017 some elemenents of their staging lol Samira – cute but overshadowed by Cornelia at this point – she will be out sadly Tone – staging is messy – reminds me Jessicou Anderson 2021 staging which was messy too – Its my second fav of this heat tho John – Its nice but boring – deserve to go home Nielo and Lisa – staging looks cool, however they are… Read more »

Its not about winning but about presenting yourself in front of audience – that’s the point of Melodifestivalen – Eurovision is only a BONUS, so u can take your arrogant coments somewhere else …

ummm kind of obivous that this year’s winner will not come from this semifinal… the best is Liamoo but it’s not amazing at all… maby the second would be Alvaro with his latino-spanish cliché… the rest is a big “no thank you”… by the way, why John Lundvik looks so dirty? -and not in a sexy way-… he looks like needs to take a shower

My comments: LIAMOO: Not a big fan of his voice or those odd dance moves he’s doing Niello och Lisa: This performance is actually quite nice. Not quite the nygammal vals 2.0 I was imagining but excellent. Samira: A chill performance will fs stand out in all this activity. Well done Alvaro: I’m happy he’s not completely copying Bailá bailá. Cause the song feels identical. B.C.: I like their personalities, often hard to present those with all these instruments but they have great stage presence John: Incredibly basic, would be disappointed if he did anything else. Tone: Something feels off… Read more »

One thing that I’m really liking on this year’s Melfest is how they changed the approach for their camera work, giving it more of a live show feeling. Sweden had so much success with slick performances but a little bit of unpredictability (even if everything is rehearsed to look more natural) is actually good for some of the entries. Cornelia Jakobs was a good example last week, it felt more like the cameras were reacting to her performance and the result was great, because it really felt like she was singing to someone else.

Like Liamoo and Alvaro but need to see the full performance. Not sure why alvaros dancers are wearing those hats—didn’t work for Tamta as they are a distraction and hides faces.

I really don’t understand this running order and how they can end on those 2 songs and stagings. This year’s Melfest is quite the worst in recent memory. And next week the 2 closing songs are from veterans near or over 50. I don’t understand what is happening this year. In the words of Christer Bjorkman to the BBC: “sorry not good enough”.

Browsing Collection were my favorites of this bunch, it looks like it’s going to be a great Big Bang of a performance which is what the song needs.

Alvaro was top class as always, he knows how to perform a mood beautifully.

The others were ok, the only one I found irritating was Samira – that accent is offensive!

How can an accent be offensive? She’s part British. She’s singing in her British accent. Why is an American accent not offensive when a Swede sings that way but a British accent be offensive?!

My being is not offended in the way Zinedine Zidane was in the 2006 World Cup final, but my ears are not happy chappies. That accent is so bad and the worst of it is that it is being done seriously. It’s a pastiche of the worst kind. Can you imagine if a Brit tried to pull off an authentic performance of a Swedish folk song in a Swedish accent – the mind boggles!!!

How can someone singing in thier native accent be offensive? She has a British mother, that’s how she sounds when she speaks English..

If she sounds like that when she speaks English, then I genuinely feel very sorry for her because no-one in Britain speaks anything like that. It is the Dick-van-Dyke-in-Mary-Poppins levels of offensiveness. Kind of endearing if done in a jokey way but really irritating if trying to be passed off as a serious attempt at a British accent. It’s what non-native English speakers think English people sound like.

My thoughts: 1) Liamoo, looks great but also a bit empty? 2) Niello & Lisa Ajax, oh dear, that was quite bad. Niello is stiff like a board and it all looks rather cheap 3)Samira Manners, Looks nice and heartfelt, but it still lacks a little something. 4) Alvaro Estrella, It looks nice but oh so heartless. 5) Browsing Collection, Their live was just a mess. Just. A. Mess. Vocal shifty too at times. 6) John Lundvik, best vocal this semi and professional performance (simple but elegant) 7) Tone Sekelius, this is fine, but lackluster to say the least. It… Read more »

1.Liamoo’s stage prescense is a bit weird but it so deserves dtf 2.Although i have no idea what the lyrics say Niello and lisa are one of my favs from the semi 3.Samira is also one of my favourites its sooooo sweet 4.Alvaro brought a bteer staging than previous years but the song is trash it deserves 7th place actually it would maybe win if we were in 2016 5.Browsing collection was a suprise. Once i heard the snippets i though omg that was actually uinderated but once i saw the clip i regretted it. I have mixed feelings about… Read more »
