Polands Junior Eurovision 2021 Singer Sara James Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent

It’s possibly the world’s biggest TV talent show. And on Tuesday night, America’s Got Talent viewers were treated to a performance from someone who will be very familiar to Junior Eurovision fans — Poland’s Sara James. The young songstress finished second at JESC 2021 with “Somebody”.

Poland’s Sara James on America’s Got Talent

Sara’s audition is preceded by a short interview with the four judges — comedian Howie Mandell, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, supermodel Heidi Klum and music mogul Simon Cowell. The 13-year-old tells the panel that she’s always been amazed by the AGT clips on YouTube and that now she’s come to America to see if dreams really do come through.

She chooses to sing “Lovely” by Billie Eilish, which she describes as really emotional with full lyrics. Her performance has the crowd on their feet. And once the applause dies down, Simon Cowell is the first to chime in with his opinion. “We’ve heard a lot of singers over the years, but wow”, he says. “This wasn’t perfect, but you have a real star glow about you”. He promptly stands up and slams his hand down on the legendary golden buzzer, which guarantees Sara a place in the live shows later this summer.

Sara James at Junior Eurovision 2021

Sara James previously won The Voice Kids Poland in early 2021, wowing the judges with covers including Demi Lovato’s “Anyone” and “Husavik (My Home Town)” from the film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. She then went on to win Poland’s national selection for Junior Eurovision 2021 with “Somebody”. Sara was among the favourites to take victory in Paris, but ultimately finished second in the 19 December final. She came just six points behind Armenia’s Maléna with “Qami”.

Cowell is an abuser of talent. Always was…..always will be.
He’s your best friend when the money is rolling in. As soon as the sales start to dip, then it’s a quick bye bye….see yer and bring on the next one please !!

I was a good move for her. there are many talented youths in every country, but if you want to go big, you need to move your butt and do something about it. With all due respect, in Poland she would be popular locally. and that would be a waste of talent. That’s basically what happened to Edyta Gorniak. Goo luck!

She represents Poland so well. Every Polish girl I have met has her personality.

Huge love from Armenia. Now Sara has proven herself once again to be an amazing performer. She’s got an all-star quality. Love you, sweetheart. She’s got a bright future ahead.

Beautiful comment. In Poland we really love Malena too. Music is not sports, there should be no competition. Eurovision is fun, but all participants are winners.

Exactly! Sara was superb. I understand the unfair approach towards Sara from Armenia on the big night, but Armenians wanted something positive after the war, so they really lost their senses to a certain extent. But I heard so many positive comments about Sara. She stole the show in JESC. Much love and support to this super talented young sensation from Armenia.

Quoting what someone said in the comments: “No sob story and she still got the golden buzzer”

This really shows how amazing Sara is as a singer. She doesn’t need any backstory to give her any help towards the golden buzzer. She just has pure, raw talent!

Being 13 is a good replacement for a sob story in terms of talent shows, to be fair.

Her backstory IS her personality and the fact that she is a great singer.

So happy to see Sara here and gain more recognition in the United States! AGT featured Daneliya Tuleshova not too long ago as well!

Agt and jesc are totally two different things. I don’t know why anyone would compare it.

It saddens me to see people getting so excited by the approval of a moron like Simon Cowell. Sara James, you don’t need a golden buzzer to have worth. You’re already so much better than this trash – you are serving them, they are not serving you.

I think people are more excited about Sara having her recognition spread outside of Europe.

Simon Cowell is a parasite he enjoys rinsing young talent for the £££ before spitting them out with nothing.
