“I’m so happy!” The words of France’s Lissandro after winning Junior Eurovision 2022. The “Oh maman” singer topped the jury vote and placed third with the public to take the winner’s trophy with his upbeat, feel-good number that has shades of Elvis Presley.
Lissandro hails from Moselle, a small town in the east of France. Since the age of five, the young singer has been passionate about music and his parents have always supported his desire to sing.
He enjoys a wide variety of music, from Elvis Presley to Bruno Mars. Lissandro’s love for the King of Rock and Roll came to the forefront when he participated in The Voice Kids France in 2020. Blown away by his energetic interpretation of Presley’s “Too Much”, the four judges all turned their seats around, even leaving their podium to dance. This performance earned him the nickname of Elvissandro. Under the guide of Jenifer Bartoli, Lissandro made it all the way to the final.
The lyrics of “Oh Maman!” see Lissandro delivering a message of perseverance. They explain that you must believe in yourself no matter what happens and no matter what others think. Nothing should stop us.
I step on stage, nothing stops me
Not the nos, nor the what are you doing, stop!
I take my guitar, I’m not afraid of anything
I’m a star for a chorus
It was co-written by Eurovision 2021 runner-up Barbara Pravi and Frederic Château.

Not so happy
I don’t understand how people can be upset by the result, this is how people voted, just because your favourite didn’t win doesn’t mean it’s a bad result, he got 3rd most votes in the televote, clearly people loved the song.
He was totally a star.. love his performance.. well deserve…
The star that night was the girl of Armenia
Everyone was a star! France did stand out and won, just accept that
Italy 2021, Eurovision winner, european cup winner, France 2022 Junior Eurovision winner, world cup winner….or not. Suspense….
693 comments and counting.
You all OK? :)))
People getting mad at a kid winning a kids contest…
I’m scared about security next year.
Just saw their reactions with the football match…
Look at your reaction for a kids contest before talking….you’re ill.
I think th resulst were good ! Suprised that france won but its better the The uk winning , i think the production from the Armenian broadcaster was absolute amazing , italy should takes notes ? although i wasnt really a fan of iveta , she kept talking abt herself but all together , i absolute loved this yrs JESC!
I didn’t check any songs nor hear anything before the show at all, but after I watched all performances, my top 3 were France, Armenia and Spain. So, for me, I don’t understand all the hates that France is getting.
I think his charisma is the key to the win. Overall, I think Armenia was perfect. Though, my heart went for France as my winner cause the vibe I got after watching France was just crazy. So, congrats to France and Lissandro! And thanks Armenia for such a great show that night.
That’s so funny. I waited until the end of the show to vote and ended up voting for France, Armenia and Spain for the same exact reason. They were the most memorable and entertaining to watch.
For the frustrated people who are not able to accept the results stop blaming Lissandro or France, you’re not happy, blame the juries and the public, at the end they are the ones who choose, 1st in jury, 3rd in public just to remember you. You can’t understand why Lissandro has won, but rewatch his performance without bias and you will see, he has brought a moment, his performance was a moment during this evening, he stood out a lot, his charisma was insane, he was charming on stage and has done everything, more the final high note and that’s… Read more »
Well, even though I agree with you on a lot of points here (like the fact that people will have to get over it even if they’re not happy with the result), I still want to add that Lissandro’s performance was very perfectible. 3 very strong points from his performance: the song itself that matches perfectly the idea of the contest, the staging and the charisma. But there are still some flaws that bothered me personally a lot. First, he was quite off key on some note (nothing terrible though). Secondly, and probably the thing that annoyed me the most,… Read more »
Gosh, thatnks for saying this!!! Couldn’t agree more!!
Very true.
Why everyone has a problem and simply cannot accept the result? Georgian, Armenian and Spanish fans are really toxic- your songs were weak, get over it or don’t watch next Year if you don’t like it. Period.
I think it’s not about accepting but more about figuring out why the voting system doesn’t work correctly.
But its the same story every Year to be honest. System failures are part of Eurovision ?
Armenian fans are very happy France won. Do your research before commenting.
And I don’t think any particular nation is toxic, the toxicity is in the nature of Eurovision fandom
Armenian fans are not complaining lol. Armenia loves France and vice versa.
I’m sorry sorry the France deserve to come last am I watching a different competition Ireland the UK and Neverland deserve to be in the top 3 not France France song was absolutely pants
Neverland, such a lovely country.
It would actually make sense for Neverland to be included. It is a junior contest, don’t forget. Are they in the EBU? Tinkerbell for Paris 2023.
I’d love to go in Neverland and in The France, I didn’t know these countries but they seem very cool.
This was all planned
JESC is suffering a terrible audience problem, so France AGAIN, are gonna host.
Qatar is a joke if we make an investigation here.
You sir, have a problem.. Get over it, France won fair and Lissandro deserves it.
you need to see a mental health specialist, you have problems that call for solutions.
Darling, not only Spain, it was the whole Europe ?, and just saying the obvious.
Not deserved.
The whole Europe voted Lissandro, juries and people from all around Europe and even the world, PERIOD.
The whole Europe? He was 6th and with all France voting hahhaha
Another day, we can discuss about that ridiculous and Unfair online vote.
North Macedonia can’t compete with France, Spain or Poland. THAT’S OBVIOUS.
3rd out of 16 big dumb
Their first victory was a playback and yesterday we stand a screaming boy but super protected by juries… Enmm…
I can’t wait for France 2023 and their new “sorprise” to kidnap JESC
Stop france bashing in eurovision ! France wins : that’s it ! France isn’t arrogante or wathever : France want to give the magic on eyes kids. Love Europe !!!!
Your level of stupidity is insane, your misplaced jealousy is so ridiculous lol. That frustration omg! Chill.
I guess the frustration was on you watching the AMAZING show thanks to Armenia, after your ridiculous stage 2021…
At least these year WORK…!
You are exactly what your name says
Stop bullying me
This was not deserved, there were amazing performances and songs, and the winner was one of the worst.
You want to let me as crazy, BUT THE LAST ARTICLE HERE ON WIWI, before the show, , in a survey France was 15th out of 16!!!!!!!
Noone cared about their song.
What are you even babbling about, my guy? Don’t you feel dumb* comparing the thousands (and I’m being generous) of votes from mostly die-hard Eurovision fans (on a small fansite poll, on top of that)… with the MILLIONS of votes from MILLIONS of viewers on a global scale? You really have to stop thinking the world revolves around you, the little bubble that’s the Eurovision fandom has little to no importance on the outcome. I can’t believe I have to explain something this simple. * Of course you wouldn’t feel dumb, you’re already making a fool of yourself by crying… Read more »
Top 3 public so not only by the juries deal with it.
6th
You’re that stupid to not not be able to read correctly the results, 3RD IN ONLINE VOTING, chill
Yeees can’t wait for France to win in 2023 just to see the frustrated people of this fandom being mad, it’s a big satisfaction too.
You can’t accept the results of jesc so stop following it and stop being a fan if you’re not able to respect the results at the end, we won’t miss you. Ciao.
Portugal had the same points than you and god, he deserved MUCH MORE!!
Oh maman, oh papan….mdr.
As an Irish Eurovision fan, I’m so happy to see an Irish entry, and especially one as gaeilge (in the Irish language) do so well! We haven’t had much to celebrate the past few years, I’ll take my victories where I can.
Maith an cailín, a Sophie! Tá bródúil againn asat! (We’re proud of you!)
I was hoping for Ireland to do well at junior vision, so I am very pleased that they made it to the top five this year.
Same the song and staging was absolutely stunning and perfect for her voice and to get our best placement ever in JESC and in Eurovision all round since 1997 it was really exciting watching the voting and seeing Ireland get points from almost all juries.
I truly hope RTE can take inspiration and maybe review their selection process or even maybe offer to translate some of the artists that have entered songs in order to have a mix of both languages
TG4 should really promote it much more because they only got around 2% of the viewer share which is only better than The Netherlands and the same as Germany a country not even participating, I think they should join up with RTE for JESC and it be broadcast on both stations with Irish commentary like for example some years Eurovision has around 50% or even higher of the share
If people are getting angry at a show that´s about young talent, then they need to rethink their priorities in life.
Assuming they even HAVE a life, that is.
Ha haha burn!
I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but whatever. The positivity of most of these comments is amazing, but I wish it was this respectful in other Wiwibloggs articles when we talk about entries in ESC proper.
A couple of lessons from this: 1) Barbara Pravi has found her way to keep nailing Eurovision (this can only be a good thing). 2) If UK keeps going from last year’s ESC and this year’s JESC, they will be hosting very, very soon on their own merit. 3) I can’t wait for Nicolas Alves to win ESC when he is old enough.
I just wish it was with that sing. Damn, it was so good.
Song
I’m I the only one that finds it hilarious that full blown adults watch this and are furious about the results? It’s a show for children, kids vote in this, kids watch this. Literally cringing at the comments right now lmao
3 minutes of screaming. Is this called music? His singing was not clean, our ears bleed… Unjustified winner, Georgia was clearly the best (song, clothes, graphics + her singing was flawless)…
No it wasn’t. She was off key in the beginning. France and Armenia were the best vocally and in terms of the overall show.
Yes, is the worst winner in 5 years…
Totally agree Dida, but French are gonna try to hide their manipulation.
We already know them, how DIRTY they vote favourites countries low just to win.
Armenia was yesterday THE WINNER. Georgia, Netherlands, Uk, Portugal, Ireland… All much better than France.
Psychlogical issues detected here, and it’s serious imo.
French are so bad, they manipulate everything cause they are so powerful! That’s why Fulenn was 2nd to last for example …
They can’t vote for themselves at eurovision (THANK GOD)
Portugal was the best for me
It wasnt and the staging was horrendous
Great show for that robot was annoying yes they are kids but they don’t need to treat kids like it’s on it
Regardless of the result, Babara Pravi, ESC runner-up and 2x JESC winning songwriter. <3
The winner deactivated his social networks, he received a wave of hatred, death threats because he won. lots of eurofan messages in France and especially from our Spanish neighbours. you are aware that lissandro is still a child?? how can you dirty a child so much? I’m really shocked at the turn this is taking. congratulations again to france and ignore the nasty reactions filled with hate
Very sad indeed. It also forces us to question the future of the JESC as a whole.
This is partly the EBU’s fault too. They need to guarantee a contest that’s held in a way where the children won’t receive any backlash after winning.
In my opinion, only using public (online) voting would work best.
You’re stating the obvious. We know threats come from a handful of stupid people. We live in a harsh world, it’s expected in any competition.
From a parental standpoint, the EBU need to do more to limit any kind of bullying. Simply hoping that people won’t send backlash to the winner isn’t enough. Kids need to be protected from these comments.
Emphasis on partly the EBU’s fault.
The world is a harsh place and online hate will continue to exist as long as the internet exists. The EBU needs to find ways to combat this. Whether it’s publishing an anti-bullying message before every MV or live broadcast or only using public vote, something needs to change.
Generally they do
I think you´re both right.
While the EBU isn´t responsible for policing the fanbase, I think it would help if they issued a statement condemning this sort of behavior.
Deactivating comments on their Facebook page is a start. Completely taking out comments for good on JESC’s YouTube channel is also a good option.
Not allowing children anywhere near the internet without adult supervision is the best option.
Like limit the comments on his social media? What can they do?
Limiting comments on social media is a parental control choice, nothing to do with the EBU. They could broadcast an anti-bullying message at the start of every YouTube/TikTok video perhaps?
I’m generally saying the EBU should let kids themselves choose the winner (public vote only) to limit any bullying against a winner chosen by juries. This should be the first of many steps, in my opinion.
They could do that, sure, but social media is full of bullies that will do what they want anyway. EBU can’t control that, neither can an anti bullying message.
So what’s the solution in your opinion, to cancel JESC?
Hahhahahaha dead threats? Lol
Frenchs playing the victim role. ZzZZ… Go to work and learn from. Armenia!
You’re embarassing and mostly embarassing for yourself, you act so ridiculously. Hilarious as would say Whisker.
You’re falling into this person’s trap, just ignore them.
You’re right, he is mad lol.
Yeah. Blame the Spanish fans. Jesus. I’m so sick of the hate against Spanish fans. Three idiots don’t represent a whole country.
THANK YOU. I hate that just cause some spaniards are toxic now we are the worst fans, like no, stop blaming us for everything, especially when most hate doesn’t even come from Spain.
Exactly!
You are the most active and the biggest fandom in Europe so of course you are the ones we see the most.
You cheat and still you are not grateful with people who voted your TERRIBLE song hahahah
Spain gave you 6 points, so show some respect to them.
My favorite country voting was Malta who gave you 0000000. You can’t buy them 😀
This makes me super sad but, let me tell you that what you see on social networks is not what represents an entire fandom. Here in Spain, there has been nothing but positivity towards Lissandro. For instance, last night he appeared on the news, where they highlighted his amazing performance, and Spanish press members have been calling him a winner (w Georgia and Armenia) the entire week, saying that nobody comes close to doing JESC as good as France. Once the show ended, everything was full of positive reactions since the show did well with audiences, and Carlos got a… Read more »
Because you are very polite, but the contest was rigged by France.
Yeah, I guess I am polite … someone should learn a thing or two.
What a pity
Maybe a child shouldn’t be on Instagram 24/7, just saying… Bla. Blaa blaaaa….
Go to cry and to prepare a new ridiculous tiny show in Paris.
Armenia show yesterday HOW TO MAKE A PARTY.
Could you please definitely SHUT UP?
So proud of our tiny and ridiculous show in 2021! It was a success and it was iconic considering the conditions, but your pure hatred and stupidity makes you blind.
Waitt What a BIG sorprise, some of you are french. Now all has sense. You don’t want to hear the truth about how dirty you play to win. Just take a look to your votes to POLAND and SPAIN in 2020. These talented – and favourites – girls were last for France that night hahahahaha. Really these girls were the worst for the french jury?? ? You play DIRTY just to get what you want. You win with a – nice – playback in 2020, but yesterday you didn’t deserve it at all. And you KNOW that. All my French… Read more »
No one, is just their victim role. They love it.
But then they say A LOT OF TERIBLE TINGS about Ukraine, and no problem!
Who cares about the poor children who are reading that?
Such hypocrites.
Viki, Valentina, Malena got the same, it’s usual but sad.
Spanish fans bullying others? Well that’s not the first time I hear that, they are known for being toxic pieces of trash, ask Chanel and what they did to her. Before she brought them their best result in 20 years.
Spanish eurofans are just pathetic clowns. Insulting, trolling, and now menacing other contestants. What a shame.
I won’t defend them but I think we shouldn’t generalize, some of them are too intense obsessed unbearable disrespectful vulgar and toxic for sure, they are omnipresent everywhere but they don’t represent at all the spirit of the others spaniards who are mainly friendly and fairplay but they are not omnipresent like the others. These extreme spanish eurofans are very hateful towards certain countries for sure and always the same, but the others good spanish eurofans feel shame to see that, it doesn’t represent them.
But as I said weeks ago France has not the right to win or to do well, a part of this fandom has a total negative bias towards France, so it was predictable, until I see Lissandro winning the jury vote I knew the hatred he will get, I didn’t expect him to win but when I saw this I was extremely happy but instantly sad thinking about the hatred France and this kid will get….and it shouldn’t be normal. The french victory gives a big slap to all these persons and I hope they will learn the lesson one… Read more »
Finally you confess, you didn’t expect to win!!!
Normal, because it WAS a BAD SONG in the middle of amazing performances and some hits
You didn’t deserve it AT ALL, sorry, but that’s the truth.
It was very unfair for the UK, Armenia, Georgia, Netherlands… And you had BETTER SONGS.
I was really wondering why his profile was gone when I wanted to check it and maybe even send a congratulating message to him 🙁 I figured he might have received a lot of hate comments and so I wanted to give him some positive comments as well! People have lost it nowadays… It’s impossible to understand how some people are willing to waste time of their lives just to send a hateful message to a different person, let alone a child… I guess some also forget that the results are not based on their own opinion but rather on… Read more »
Typical Spanish fans what did u expect?
Terrible winner. Even in FRANCE they didn’t expect to win, that says everything.
The only terrible thing I can see is your toxic posting here ….maybe you shouldn’t post something here ….because we don’t need those comments here.
What we don’t need is a country cheating every year
Valentina Playback, and now this.
Wow you’re still mad about that? It’s been two years bro, get over it
This visceral hate and obsession is frightening, it’s an illness at this point…and he dare to use the word “WE” , as if he was the spokesperson for the whole Europe, LOL he must feel so alone in his life…
We didn’t expect it but we have cheated and manipulated (I don’t knwow even what) to win, lol you’re a genious!
2020 – playback and we gave null points or just 1 (there were 11 options to vote lol) for the favourites.
That’s how YOU win.
SHAME ON YOU.
Serbia deserved 12 pts as all the others, and the hatred coming from certain countries mainly in 2020 wasn’t motivating to vote for them back.
And you was and are still part of that, that shame! Congrats!
*you were
Armenia put on one hell of a show! Well done to all at AMPTV.
Whilst the winning song was a shock, we shouldn’t complain as they’re just kids at the end of the day. I’m absolutely sure we’ll see some of these kids compete in Eurovision one day, they’re all superstars in the making, so don’t get upset if your favourite didn’t win.
Armenia, Ireland, UK, Serbia and Georgia were my favourites, but all acts were superb!
My favourites were
1st, 2nd and joint 4th in the public vote.
But then juries mess it all up
The show was amazing and I had a blast watching it. A lot of fans are pissed off about France’s victory, but I don’t really care myself. The performances were great, even the ones that were plagued by illness or even absence in Serbia’s case (which became my winner)
Here’s to hoping the 2023 edition in France will be at least on par with this year’s quality 😀
As an Armenian, I’m so proud of Nare! It is in a worthy second place. Everyone did a great job in this contest. And congratulations to France for the victory! As they say, the winners are not judged.
Was it Iveta who said Malena’s performance was sexy? No wonder why 4/5 kids in Armenia say they have been harassed by adults, paradise for pedophiles
What a mind you have!
*mindset
You are wrong and I hope you stop spreading lies.
i’m pretty sure she said sassy
It was “sassy”, not “sexy”.
She said sassy! You’re clearly sick
I barely (!) recognised Iveta with clothes on
First of all congrets to the UK and Freya Skye to win the public vote …. this girl will be a superstar in the near future. Congrets to Ireland and Sophie Lennon to get the best result for Ireland. Congrets to Armenia for a great show …and finally to France to win the JESC again. Gosh, this JESC was really good and unpredictable. So, next year I will fly to France to watch the JESC live. My country Germany already confirmed that they take part next year …hope they made their homework and we offer Europe a good song/singer/staging.
Just a tip: in English we say ‘did their homework’ instead of ‘made their homework’. I know it’s different in German but just some unrelated advice.
Thank you for that advice ….I finished school over 30 years ago …so my english is a little bit rusty.
I hope the Nordics
Sweden, Denmark (kinda unlikely), Norway (Unlikely) and Iceland will enter next year.
We (Denmark) will probably never go to JESC
Funny how the German broadcaster didn’t participate because they didn’t think Armenia was safe….Armenia put on one hell of a show and proved all the nay-sayers wrong.
It would be my last thought because I don’t want to be heavy, sorry to be so happy but it was so unexpected and that’s my point, this victory brings again more excitement in this contest, everything is still possible for every contestants until the end, whatever the reactions pre contest, whatever what the fandom in general thinks, the polls. The things will become again more unpredictable now, again more exciting and I’m here for that, thank you Lissandro to show to some of these toxic persons of this fandom that they don’t influence anything and will never.
I think Lissandro’s victory will make come back some countries in the contest, countries that had lost faith in this contest. This performance and this song represent exactly the jesc roots.
Definetely the running order in the jesc means litteraly nothing again the proof, and the hosting countries cursed results have ended these last years, I mean Armenia 2nd on their homesoil, Italy adult eurovision 6th in Turin, France jesc 2021 3rd in Paris, Poland 2019 winner on their homesoil too, not bad for the host countries.
Sorry for all my comments but I give my thoughts as they arrive, I think Malena’s victory brings something to the contest no doubt on that but for example if the UK would have won too this year, with a radio friendly song that you could hear in the clubs, how would have turned this contest…a minidivas contest singing only stuff for older teens and adult, it would be too cringe imo. Of course if you are 14, 15,16 years old teen or older this 2022 winning song is not for you even if….but I’ve seen on youtube some real… Read more »
I mean, I’m 22 and I’m enjoying his song xD
Yea, I was rooting more for Armenia, but it doesn’t mean I’m not into the more childish songs in recent years, like Oh Maman or J’imagine for example
Those kids are talented and the songs are super fun
As for your other comment, I didn’t even notice he was the first boy to win in such a long time!
There are definitely more girls in this contest but didn’t notice boys barely win haha
Also, I agree – Barbara Pravi is a talented genius!
You’re an adult, so you can openly enjoy childish things. So do I. These French JESC songs are very cute, and so is the one from Netherlands. Funny enough, older kids during puberty are the ones often staying away from childish stuff because they want to be seen as older. Adults usually don’t care about being seen as childish, because they don’t need external validation about their adulthood. Older teens do, and that’s why many of them avoid childish hobbies. They are the target audience for stuff like Qami qami and Lose My Head. From my current perspective, these songs… Read more »
I am 30+ and enjoyed the song:)
There is nothing that says adults can not enjoy childish songs or movies. I think it is about still having that child like sense without being childish
I don’t know how Barbara Pravi manages to do that but this woman is definetely talented, she knows what could touch the people without thinking about the die hard eurofans target, like Portugal does too in some way, and it works. I mean she has 2 jesc victories you can dislike her songs but the facts talk by themselves. France is the Junior Eurovision jury winner 3 years in a row, I don’t know if it has already happened Lissandro making the History becoming the 20th winner and the first boy since 8 years. Keep disliking his song or whatever,… Read more »
Oh I forgot to say but in the french team there’s a dancer who is in the jury winning performance 3 years in a row, so he is 3 times jury winner he is real little star too.
France got the EXACT same results as last year, 1st jury, 3rd online voting.
More than talented (she is), she is smart. She knows what works and she makes the same every year. Again and again. That’s funny that her best song was the worst in results: bim bam bum!
Armenia organized a truly spectacular show. Going from a country that had to withdraw from ESC and JESC 2 years ago and coming back and organizing a show that could easily match ESC level, the comeback Armenia needed. Hosting ESC next!
You were right months ago, Armenia did the best jesc ever, the bigger one and one of the most memorable.
*the biggest one…
Thank you 🙂
Seeing again the reactions of this fandom on youtube made my night. I predicted it weeks ago if France did well some predictable eurofans reactors in this fandom would be mad, and spot on, I mean they can’t hide their bias omg lol, maybe they should change their way to think now when it comes about Junior Eurovision.
France esc 2022 bottom 5, France jesc 2022 winner, Lissandro avenged Fulenn in the best possible way. First winner boy since a long time and it was largely time!
I’ll pray that Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany and Israel should return to JESC 2023.
Germany already confirmed that they come back for the JESC 2023. I still can’t understand why Australia doesn’t participate anymore.
Australia doesn’t even broadcast JESC anymore even though SBS did so every year before they were allowed to enter the Eurovision family. If I remember right, the three last entries were not even organized by SBS, but by ABC ME
Australia isnt gonna return and Azerbaijan are cheaters , they dont deserve to cone back.
come*
I didn’t expect France to win this contest again. More congratulations.
I hope the JESC 2023 will be held in Paris again.
I just think that besides La Seine Musicale. There is another arena. “Accor Arena”.
I think
Bordeaux or Strasbourg are in the running now and not Paris.
Congratulations to Lissandro and France for winning Junior Eurovision 2022. An unexpected, but deserved, win.
But I’m going to be real, though. Freya Skye should be given more props for what she did last night. For someone who was losing their voice because she was sick, she sang well and perform the heck out of that stage. I hope Sam and Freya should be a sign for the UK to take Eurovision seriously. Congratulations to Team UK for a job well done.
How can France win the song was awful the United Kingdom’s UK entry was the best it looks like they punished her for voice Jury and I could not even vote for her all my other to artists but online voting was terrible it was not working
The jury didnt vote for her because she didnt use her real voice in the jury final , she used playback , it would be unfair if she won the jury vote.
Dear Wiwibloggs,
Please ban Jonkonfui from commenting on any articles on your website. He demonizes Junior Eurovision, thus being an anti-fan. He doesn’t deserve to be on Wiwibloggs.

With France being a true, unexpected Darkhorse winner, I wonder what other Eurovision winning songs have been in a similar position of being shocking, Darkhorse winners at the time of their victories. For me, I would see Portugal winning Eurovision 2017 as a shocking Victor because I didn’t think it was going to make it out of the final, much less win the whole shebang.
I think the last proper dark horse winner (in ESC) was Jamala in 2016. Just weeks out from the contest, she was still 30/1 in the odds and wasn’t the favourite at any stage in the run-up. When it comes to JESC, I don’t know if France winning this year tops Georgia winning in 2016 (that year again!). Mzeo was at the bottom of all the betting odds for the longest time and then, well, Mariam slayed it. Since then though, there’s not been anything that’s *quite* come out of nowhere. In JESC, with the online voting at least, I… Read more »
2016 is the first year I’ve watched JESC, and after hearing the songs, I actually made the prediction that Mzeo might win. Seriosly, my comment still might be somewhere on Wiwibloggs when discussing our expectations. It was last in the running order, and it felt so uplifting. Sure, I have an inclination towards musical theater songs more than your average ESC fan does, but this striked me as a potential winner. I am actually surprised it was a shock that it won.
Portugal 2017 won both juries and public voting, it wasn’t shocking at all with 758 points.
Tbh Ukraine not winning despite having clearly war-related song and perfect running order is kind of a relief. That could suggest we might have more objective Eurovision next year.
Of course it’s not winning, do people forget it’s a kids show? Kids vote in this. Stop pushing your adult agenda into this.
Tbh, couldn’t care less about the results…
On the other hand, that was a superb show. This is what you get when you don’t overthink it and simply do your job TV-production-wise. It was a thing made by-the-book. And that was a good book. Slick.
Congrats Armenia and everyone involved.
RAI, yeah…learn a thing or two.
The United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Spain deserved higher places, they were my top 3 and one of them should’ve won. They got robbed by the juries.. Glad Ireland got 4th place and Georgia 3rd! France winning was unexpected and not really deserved in my eyes, Enzo brought a similar song last year that was much better. It feels kinda random, especially in a year where there were so many strong acts. Congratulations to Lissandro though, what a talented, energetic kid!
Having to vote for 3 countries seems to make the televote hold less power unfortunately. It means that it’s harder for a song to make up difference from the jury vote, especially when the juries gave their first like 130 points and the public’s was only 80 points.
We need a system like at adult eurovision, a 1 to 8, 10, 12 for each country for the televote aswell as the jury
Oh, and stop making us have to vote for 3 countries. One is enough, but you can vote more if you choose to.
From tomorrow, the junior contest will stop existing for me for at least ten months. I will not mention it, or even think about it. I know you will all be sorry to hear this. Thank you, Armenia, good job. See you next year in Paris, with hopefully child-friendly songs.
I can’t wait to read your comments when we are talking about ESC. They are also kinda funny to read.
Wiwibloggs wouldn’t be the same website as before without your rants left and right xD
Good weekend for France
Moselle is not a small city but a county 😉
