Many fans consider Sweden’s Loreen a shoe-in to win the jury vote at Eurovision 2023. Many others think that Finland’s Käärijä could give her a run for her krona in the televote. And on Friday night on Dutch chat show Beau, Loreen finally gave her thoughts on her Nordic competition.

“I think it’s exciting,” she said after the host played her a clip of the Finn’s UMK 2023 performance of “Cha Cha Cha.”

“I’m like, that energy — I’m just feeling it. I just want to head bang. I know him. I know he’s a puppy. He’s so sweet — and then this side and funny. He’s laughing all the time. And then you see this and you’re like, ‘Oh god!'”

Later in the show, a host brought up the ongoing concerns about Loreen’s 1.8-tonne LED screen.

Before Loreen even won Sweden’s national competition, her producers admitted that they would “have to adapt” if she made it to Eurovision.

The demands on the ceiling inside Liverpool M&S Bank Arena — the Eurovision 2023 host venue — are more significant than the ceiling in Stockholm’s Friends Arena. Producers at Melfest only had to deal with 12 acts. But at Eurovision producers have to contend with the demands of 37 countries plus the interval acts.

Loreen laughed off concerns about how she’d managed without her electronic behemoth.

“Darling, I can fix anything,” she said.

Are you loving Loreen’s positivity? Do you think that Finland could top Sweden? Let us know in the comments box down below.

I see you must read the previous article about her where Monika states that Loreen did not vibe with her and which was since debunked.
Until you know for sure I suggest you stop spreading rumours!

Well there was someone on here commenting that Monika from Lithuania said that “she could not vibe with Loreen” and that she was “false”.
And based on that one single account someone concluded Loreen is not a nice person at all and here we are..
Loreen is simply not a people person. She is very introverted and do not vibe at all. But those who have met her said she is nice, kind and interested in others. So calling her “not nice” without having any proof is close to personal attack

I agree. People mix up being rude with being introvert. Loreen looks like she snubs people but in reality she is very shy and more spiritual. Please guys respect people like us who aren’t that much of a fan of going crazy and being super social with everyone.

Loreen must be a good actress to have this ‘not nice’ behaviour since the IDOL days in 2004. Wiwi would’ve clocked the behaviour in the past 11 years like they did other ESC acts.

It’s called diplomacy. Seems everybody nowadays try to fishing complements and praising to their own country artist or song. It’s pathetic!

I dont want that Sweden wins. As Loreen I dont care about them all but I dont want her winning. If she wins It all would be so clichéd gay Eurovision. I want Spain, Finland, Norway, San Marino… Whoever but Sweden. Am i a hater for wanting this? I am not feeling that way on purpose, though.

Cliched gay Eurovision? What does it even mean? That only gay people want Loreen to win? As if she has no straight fans or what?
Then all of the other songs you mentioned should be just as gay Eurovision. I mean Norway is as camp as you can be, with a song about being bisexual

Tattoo – Juries winner! we all know they bribe the judges every year…
Unicorn – Televote winner! beautiful singer, feminist song, the kids will love it and the dancebreak will be the best ever…
Israel vs Sweden, OMG!

Israel could do well, still very reluctant to give a verdict until I see the whole thing performed because atm its not the most cohesive but I think it certainly has potential.

I would be very surprised if Finland doesn’t win the televote and I think theres a possibility the three Nordics (Sweden, Norway, Finland) might top to televote, thats less certain though.

The unfortunate thing is whilst some of us, perhaps quite a few of us may appreciate the Israeli entry as it’s performed in the semis and pressumably in the final aswell, having both such an idolising mentality towards the singer and a certsin level of toxicity towards either the songs it is competing against or commentors are express a difference in opinion, this will only lead to unnecessary negativity or possibly even resentment towards this entry because toxic fanbases can give people a negative impression of a singer or song and therefore will probably lead them to being perhaps more… Read more »

For me the front runners are Sweden and Finland, with Spain and Norway being potential dark horses for the victory. I think Sweden could win the jury, although it will have competition in Blanca, maybe La Zarra and a possible wildcard Brunette and Finland could win the televote (even if he has competition, i do think it could be a convincing televote win regardless) so Finland edges it for me (v much in terms of predictions if you know my opinions on the songs).

I think the juries will go 50/50 with Sweden and Spain. Finland will win the televote. It’s worth remembering that «Heroes» did «only» got third in the televote despite great visuals and an anthemic chorous which should have pleased the crowd. But if I have to make a bet I all in all I think Sweden will win since they will do well with both televote and juries, their biggest competitors potentially flopping one of them.

I don’t think Finland will flop the juries but I definitely don’t see it doing well enough to ultimately win. I’m 100 % sure that Finland will be blanked by at least 10 juries since all it takes is that 2 jurors put it in the bottom six which isn’t hard with such a divisive song. Loreen won’t be blanked by any jury or televote. I actually think Spain has more chances to win than Finland.

and Norway has no chances whatsoever. It’s kinda dated and really nothing special. I don’t even think it’s coming top 5 (France, Italy, Israel, the UK and Armenia have better chances imo)

Escfan

This is probably a controversial thing to say but personally on the basis. of song quality , I’d have Norway and Sweden in the same bracket, early 2010s pop which is why I find it so surprising that Sweden for so many is considered a serious contender for the win and Norway less so (To the performer has to be at least part of the reason). I do think jurors wont show as much love to Norway as they will to Sweden but if Sweden dont have their melfest staging (and this could come back to bite me) it might… Read more »

I agree that Tattoo isn’t the most “fresh” song but it doesn’t sound dated imo, whereas Norway’s song does maybe also because it’s so camp.

+ Loreen is a better vocalist and performer so I don’t see how Alessandra would win over her. Loreen is also doing better in the odds and has more streams than Alessandra.

Yeah the UK can flop.

Escfan

Yeah I very much think Sweden are more likely to win than Norway but I still think there’s perhaps better entries than both (personal opinion). Also this may seem dismissive but I really dont tend to factor the streams of any Swedish song thats selected to go to esc because there are plenty of videos which showcase the songs from the last 5 or so years that have performed the best on streaming services, mainly Spotify, and Sweden more often than not either tops the list or is 2nd (im guessing Spotify being Swedish and possibly being the most popular… Read more »

Hold me closer had some success in the British charts but I dont know if that happened before the contest, it was charting in the weeks after though. I don’t think any other Swedish entries in the last number of years had success outside of Sweden or at least a substantial amount of it (I think voices charted in Germany or somewhere but not very high). Look, I think Loreen is definitely going to fare out better in the televote than most of the Swedish entries in the last number of years no doubt, Cornelia did quite well so it’ll… Read more »

I always say, realistically you either need to be top 3 with both jurors and televoters or dominate one of them and be top 5 with the other. I think Finland might come 6th -8th (id personally predict 7th) with the jury seeing as their are more jury friendly songs and Finland’s entry might not be exactly their cup of tea, however I see Finland storming the televote. I do think Norway can do well but I have a feeling Finland will have a convincing televote win so depending on the points he gets from it in comparison to where… Read more »

I can potentially see (again dependent on whether jurors pay attention to lyrics) jurors having Armenia 1st (I think this might surprise us all), Spain 2nd and Loreen 3rd (I originally had it tossed between Sweden and Spain but I think Armenia if they stage it effectively could really speak to jurors.

Also juror critera was published recently which I think people should look at to see how jurors are supposed to rank songs.

Here are the juror criteria:
– composition and originality of the song,
– quality of the performance on stage,
– vocal capacity of the performer(s),
– overall impression of the act

….so if the focus during Eurovision-week will be on the similarities between «Tattoo» and l «Flying Free» it could actually decrease Sweden’s chances quite alot.

Exactly, which is why if Future Lover is performed and staged well, I think it could really make an impact with jurors, same goes for Spain but I have full confidence in them (especially after Benidorm fest) that they will have immaculate staging and a powerful performance.

I still think Loreen could do we seeing as at the very least, youd expect three of those criteria to be met (Im assuming the first criteria is about whether or not a song sounds generic or unique, not so much sounding exactly like another).

You mean Armenia who lifted parts of their lyrics from inspirational quotes on the internet is going to be a beacon of originality? That I doubt.

By that measure Finland should have both Sweden and Armenia beat though.

Escfan

Im talking about the structure of the song, the combination of Armenian and English and yes I dont think this sounds particularly like any other song ive heard at least. Not sure if the argument of “inspirational quotes from the internet” as an argument for a song to do poorly holds up when first in the odds has lyrics like “all I care about is you, you’re stuck on me like a tattoo”. I think in terms of ranking the entries for the jury, Finland may be more of an acquired taste (I’m fully aware most fans like it but… Read more »

And Loreen definitely is spiritual….
