The Croatian five-piece Let 3 are master provocateurs. Known for vulgar lyrics and obscene live performances, the group have, among other things, masturbated in a music video and been fined by police for performing naked at an outdoor concert. In 2008, their appearance on the Nedjeljom u dva talk show was cut short after they dropped a series of expletives and pretended to pop corks out of their rectums.

They also won last year’s edition of Dora with “Mama ŠČ!” and hope to do it again with “BABAROGA”.

We’ve just published our reaction video to their latest song below. But we want to know: Which of their entries do you prefer? Vote in our poll and let us know.

“BABAROGA” — Dora 2024

Inspired by a mythical hag who kidnaps poorly behaved children, this song is filled with the musical mayhem that Let 3 fans know and love. We haven’t seen a live performance yet. But we’d be shocked if they didn’t represent BABAROGA (said hag) in some way. Perhaps it’s another year of dresses for the guys.

“Mama ŠČ!” — Dora 2023 winner

Mama doesn’t just have a tractor. She also has sass, attitude and character by the bucket load. This was among the most visually arresting of all performances at Eurovision 2024. It slapped you with female soldiers twerking and men wearing bloodied dresses and refused to apologise. The anything goes spirit continued in the music, which was at once simplistic but utterly captivating. This took Croatia all the way to 13th in the grand final.

Poll: Do you prefer Let 3’s “Babaroga” or “Mama SC”?

Firstly, I obviously like both songs, but it’s Babaroga all the way to me. The song is much more coherent, there is actual story going in the song with the end where Baba Roga takes off her horns and the progression of the song is much better. This is just pure joy to me. I understand Croatian tho, so that might be the factor.

I hope they won’t go this time. I didn’t know that they did so many repulsive things. No I have even less desire to watch them and it was close to zero up until now.

Mama SC all the way…. I respect Let 3 a lot and would no mind to see them again in ESC but not with Babaroga. However Mama SC was messed up, there was a message behind, important one, and Babaroga is just… I dont know… just strange

I think I want something else. Let 3 in 2023 was the right choice, it’s time to move on.

I feel like Mama Sc had more meme-qualities and therefore is probably a better song for Eurovision. As an enjoyable listening experience, I prefer Babaroga. Hard to completely compare until we have seen the staging.

Well both songs are crazy and fun but Babaroga sounds more mainstream and jazzier. However what LETS me down is the fact that so much autotune is being used on it. I have a feeling the guy won’t be able to sing it as well live. It’s very strange. I chose Mama SC because I’ve warmed to it over time and when we first saw it we all went crazy!

“Babaroga” is satirical, musically fun, twisted and loaded with PR. It takes a very a special kind of “messed up” to produce a song like this. Welcome to the 21st Century. If you came from the 20th Century (like I did), id’s too late to go back (unless you have a friend with a time machine).

I feel like with bands like this, returning is never going to be the same- the shock factor element won’t be the same and people who vote for this type of act will have a new ‘novelty’ act to take their votes.

I share you feeling, they don’t have the shock factor anymore 🙁

I prefer Mama SC but I respect Let 3 for trying something different with Babaroga. I won’t mind if they go to Malmö.
