They have been neck to (wolf)neck all along in both betting odds and amongst our readers, which amounted to quite a lot of votes when we asked, who your favourites were to win Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2024. And now the results are in.
It is folk-rock group Gåte and their Nordic anthem “Ulveham” that our readers want to see represent Norway in Eurovision in May, because they got 1,672 votes or 31.20% of the total votes.
Just a (wolf)length behind them are last poll winners KEiiNO with “Damdiggida” who collected 1,546 votes amounting to 28.85%. This means the two groups stacked up an impressive 60% of all the votes combined, which is something not seen very often in a poll with over 5,000 votes cast!
In third place Gothminister with “We Come Alive” got 449 votes or 8.38%, just edging out Eurovision alum Margaret Berger and “Oblivion” who came in fourth with 446 votes or 8.32% of the total votes.

How did the poll reflect your favourites? Do you think Gåte will win tonight and go to Malmö? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.
Was it necessary to put (and KEiiNO) in the title? Gate won the poll, period.
For the first time in a few years, I’m not sure who’s going to win in the end. Looking at the odds it’s a two-horse race between Gåte and KEiiNO. However, I have a bad feeling that it will be the jury that ultimately ends up deciding the winner. I think KEiiNO will do well with the televote (1st or 2nd or 3rd), but I can see the jury hold them back or overrate them massively compared to the rest of the field just because they are KeiiNO. Gåte looks to be the fan favourite with the televote (1st or… Read more »
Gate won the poll but even in the title that desperate push for Keiino is unreal!
Norway is unpredictable.
fingers crossed Gåte win
Out of the top 3 I think Keiino would do best at Eurovision. But it’s clear the fandom wants something different so I feel Gate is winning. I doubt they get a top 10 result but maybe they can prove me wrong 🙂 let’s go Norway!
Not sure if Ulveham would translate into a good Eurovision result if we look at last year’s rock bands and their songs or the ethnic songs, particularly France 2022 which was a bit different of a sound. The chorus is basically lines of screaming which would be hard for casual viewers to understand. I think a song with a clearer story should be chosen. I certainly don’t understand the fandom’s huge hate for certain other songs!
When Spain (2023) or France(2022) try to be original it doesn’t work, the esc audience has specific expectations for these countries and nothing else, France runner up with a classical emotional french chanson, bottom 5 with a mix of genres Edm track, Spain top 3 with a bomba latina but 5 televote points for again a mix of genres, flamenco with modern sounds.
But Norway must not be afraid to be original because for them it works (2019, 2022).
It´s so much better than France 2022, sorry.
France 2022:Bad staging, bad singing. Gate gave a great performance in the semi final.
The singing was weak but no the staging wasn’t bad.
Please.. Is more like a mix of G_oa shum rock and Nocturn.
I’m team KEiiNO. Just an incredible performance in the semifinal and a brilliant take on 90s europop. I like Ulveham too, but if I had to pick one or the other I would go KEiiNO. My AI is catchy but if the vocal performance doesn’t improve people shouldn’t vote for them.
I will try to objectively forsee what might happen tonight (regardless of my personal favourites that I will write in the end). Of the 9 songs, I feel the following 3 will go to the superfinal (Top-3) Gate Gothminister My AI or Judge tenderly on me (40% chance for my AI and 60% for the ballad) I feel Berger will be low (based on her previous performance) and Keiino will be in the middle (3rd time in 6 years and with a song that is not close to Spirit in the sky or even Monument). For the win, I have… Read more »
There’s a superfinal ????????
No there is no superfinal
I think it’s like last years format (aka no super final, jury score first followed by the popular vote for all entries)
I was said that there won’t be a superfinal this year…
I love the (and Keiino), but no they didn’t win this poll, it’s Gåte and more than ever I’m team Gåte tonight!
I am team Gate and team Gothminister, anyone winning and I am happy!
Nice choices!
It’s been rumored that it’s Gaute Ormåsen behind(or inside?) the Super Rob robot mannequin, one of Subwoofers.
Norway, please just don’t choose this type of an entry one more time ….
It’s not very likely. 🙂
I am voting for Gåte tonight as Norway needs to finally change its approach to the contest and Ulveham is mesmerizing, creative and ethereal.
However I don’t have a good feeling about tonight
Voting for Gothminister tonight.
Wouldn’t mind Gåte or Keiino to win as well
Since the very start, I have a feeling that Gothminister will win in the end. Dark horse you may call it. Personally, I like the song and staging. Objectively it can top the international jury vote. And come 2nd in televote. Let’s see.
That would be amazing!
Sad, NRK didn’t put “We come Alive” later in the running order.
I wouldn’t mind Keiino or Gothminister either.
My initial post of course referenced somebody else’s potential victories 😉
Keiino we know exactly what will happen. They’ll get like 2nd in the televote and 19th in the jury, like Norway usually does, and end up in 7th place or something. Damdiggida is not better than Spirit in the Sky, it’s just not. Gate is exciting. It’s a totally new thing for MGP, which always sends basic pop and have for the last decade. Please let us do something new, for once. It’s a “risk” but I don’t think Norway needs to care about that when the alternative is an extremely predictable jury/tele split.
2nd In The Televote? I Hope You Mean In MGP, Cause No Way They Will Even Be Top 15 In Televote In ESC
You’re both exaggerating. Keiino would be like 6-8th in ESC televote
usually you guys say the winner in the headline and picture, even if its close, then the runner up is mentioned in the subheadline… and they were over 100 votes and percentage points apart… come on. i’ve seen much closer polls. first you only make a reaction video to keiino, then the ranking video where you don’t even put gate in your top 3, now this, acting like they both won? the bias is strong. gate won the poll. not both.
If Norway wants to do something new, go with Gåte. If they want to have the best result possible, go with KEiiNO or MIIA.
If Norway wants to be the shame of this Eurovision, go with Super Rob & Erika.
They would still be better than Subwoolfer…
MIIA? I found the song and performance very mediocre compared to other songs.
I am shocked how bad some Keiino fans are behaving in fb groups. Terrified that Gate is so popular. Spreading false studio track from Gate so people don’t vote for them. OMG.
I like Keiino but the Damdiggida is not good. Ulveham is magical and can win Eurovision.
Yet the real one they should be scared of is My AI. I feel this will get a lot of televote (it’s the most streamed song after all) and the jury might not get Gåte and think that the robot is funny and cute.
I think the same.
Everyone is acting as if everyone outside the fandom supports Gate but the reality is that the casual viewer will struggle to relate to the song at Eurovision.
Icl Ulvehan is giving me robbed vibes. I’m like 90% sure my ai is gonna win but i hope im wrong
There’s no way the Norwegian public don’t appreciate Super Rob.
Keiino for the win please
Gåte need to win but I have the strange feeling it will be My AI … and this would be a really bad move from Norway. But let’s keep fingers crossed. Gåte are a potential Eurovision winner.
My AI would translate better to the causal audience though over the ‘screaming’ chorus.
