Bring your most fabulous fashion and best dance moves to London Eurovision Party, because Belgium’s Gustaph is coming to join the festivities! The Belgian singer had everyone going crazy in Liverpool, and he will be bringing his Eurovision top 10 hit “Because Of You” to Here At Outernet on April 7th.

A big fan-favourite by the time the final rolled around, Gustaph is beloved and we cannot wait to see what he brings to the show a year after competing in Eurovision.

Who is Gustaph?

Gustaph represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool with his ballroom inspired track “Because Of You”. He was considered an underdog in his quest for a great result, but his charm, staging and incredible vocals through his powerful song snagged him 7th place. He beat out serious competition from Estonia, Australia and Czechia to reach this very deserved spot.

His reaction to winning the national final Eurosong became a meme in the Eurovision community. He was competing against established singer and Eurovision alumni Tom Dice as part of The Starlings. There were also fan-favourites such as Cherine and Gala Dragot to contend with. The latter two beat him in the jury, and The Starlings won the televote. However, Gustaph’s very consistent and still very impressive results in both saw him win the spot in Liverpool. How tense was this? Well…he won by one solitary point. And his genuine shock endeared him to all the fans at home.

“Because of You” slowly burned brighter in the background through Eurovision season whilst press and fans talked about other songs, until we saw his elevated staging at the M&S Bank Arena in May, when everything clicked into place. The arena went absolutely wild for him, giving him a spot in the Grand Final of Eurovision. Interestingly, he came 8th in his semi-final based on televotes alone, but in the final he went a spot higher depsite the larger field of songs. Juries really appreciated his art, justifyably so, and awarded him 127 points.

And what’s the point for that? There were some others, more deserving. He was average, at the best…

Average, that’s why he finished 7th with a song that 80% of the eurovision fanbase thought wzsn’t going to qualify.
