In 2024, Ireland turned their Eurovision luck around, when sixth-placed Bambie Thug became the best-performing Irish act at the contest since 2011. With that wind under their sails, the country aims to extend their success streak.

Very soon, we’ll see who will follow in Bambie’s footsteps and represent the country in Basel. That decision will be made at Eurosong 2025 on Friday evening.

Before the Irish public and jury have their say, we asked y’all to name your favourite of the six acts in Eurosong 2025. After tallying up all 2,742 votes, we have your winner!

Bobbi Arlo is a favourite to win Eurosong 2025

Bobbi Arlo was the first artist revealed for Ireland’s national final. It can sometimes be hard to maintain people’s attention throughout the rest of the song releases, but that was not a problem for Bobbi. Even after all the other acts were announced, many were still hyper focused on Bobbi’s edgy pop number “Powerplay.”

This support is massively seen in the results of our poll. Bobbi earned more than double the votes of second place, securing just over a third of all those cast (37.93%). “Powerplay” picked up 1,040 votes in total, making it our readers’ clear favourite to head to Basel.

In second place, we find Reylta with “Fire,” a Celtic-twinged ballad written partly by Ryan O’Shaughnessy, the Irish representative from Eurovision 2018. Reylta scored 479 votes amongst our readers, which is 17.47% of the total.

The third spot on the podium comes by the way of Norway. Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen — better known as EMMY — is an accomplished member of songwriting team The Woods, and a previous Melodi Grand Prix finalist. You deemed her bubble-gum pop number “Laika Party” as your third favourite with 16.99% of the total, 466 votes.

Poll results: Who should win Ireland’s Eurosong 2025?

  1. Bobbi Arlo — “Powerplay” — 37.93%  (1,040 votes)
  2. Reylta — “Fire” — 17.47%  (479 votes)
  3. EMMY — “Laika Party” — 16.99%  (466 votes)
  4. Samantha Mumba — “My Way” — 10.94%  (300 votes)
  5. ADGY — “Run into the Night” — 9.45%  (259 votes)
  6. NIYL — “Growth” — 7.22%  (198 votes)

What do you think of the results? Is Bobbi Arlo also your favourite amongst the Eurosong 2025 line-up and the best chance for Ireland to start a qualification streak at Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below!

I am not sure this is the winner. It’s probably going to do well.

I love that they have a backing dancer for Turkey 2006 on the studio panel tonight 😀

He is well known in Ireland- he is a judge on Dancing with the stars and is married to Brian Dowling. He was excellent last year as a judge- fair but critical.

I agree he was good last year. Looks like they have not invited Sonia back.

You accused me of being mean for saying Linda Martin hasn’t a clue about modern-day Eurovision, but it’s fine for you to say Sonia is “a little empty in the head” is it? That’s not mean at all, no?

Groan…Linda Martin is a guest on the show tonight. Linda, of course, is another Louis Walsh act, so I’m sure she’ll be pushing Samantha hard (“I think she can go all the way.”)

I kind of feel sorry for Linda, she never realised she wasn’t relevant anymore and instead of gracefully stepping away from the limelight as a Eurovision legend, she has become a laughing stock with her ridiculous and clueless takes on modern-day Eurovision.

I don’t think so. Linda Martin and Louis Walsh haven’t a clue about modern-day Eurovision, yet consider themselves experts on the topic. Ireland’s Eurovision record from the last 20 years would look an awful lot better if Linda and Louis had been kept far away from Eurosong.

She’s only on the show to sing a song ffs

She went to the papers last year to praise Next in Line to the hilt (‘They’re young, good-looking and they can sing. I think they can go all the way.”) Next in Line would likely have finished last in the semi. She hasn’t a clue, but she can’t help herself from getting involved.

Will be interesting to see if she starts to distant herself from Louis Walsh now there has been no much recent bad press around him.

I wonder if she really believed that or if she was just parroting the lines Louis fed her. I felt sorry for those guys. It’s cruel to build up young hopes like that.

What song? There’s clips of her on YouTube singing Euphoria, and even Daft Punk’s Get Lucky. She has a wide range, does our Linda.

She’s not going to be on the panel, so she won’t be there to give feedback.

#iambobbiarlo [older, wiser,…male…er 🙂 ]

But I have respect for all tracks this year. Reylta and Samantha (without all that processing) could be amazing ‘live’. I don’t dislike any track this year.

Catch y’all later from behind your anxiety Cushions as the Late Late Show does it’s best to screw up their chances.

My favorite is Laika Party. Its so catchy and fun. However my second favorite is Powerplay so I’m fine with that song winning as well.

Reylta said that she would sign another letter to boycott Eurovision this year. For that reason alone, I hope Reylta does not win and take the chance off somebody who genuinely wants to represent Ireland at Eurovision.

I also think that Reylta would be a NQ at Eurovision so I am hoping that Bobbi wins.

Having signed the letter to boycott last year, she’d be a massive hypocrite if she goes to Basel this year.

I really hope no one votes for her now.

Maybe this is all part of some dastardly plan to actually achieve a boycott. She just would refuse to go onstage.

Powerplay is the best option, I will have everything crossed tomorrow night and that Bobbi will have no issues singing live.

I still won’t rule out Reylta or Adgy but it would not be a certain qualifier.

If any of the other 3 are chosen, it’s back to NQ

jercle

Bobbi is the right option, and the one most likely to qualify in Basel.

I just hope the “I loved Samantha Mumba when I was 13 so I’m definitely going to vote for her!” brigade don’t follow-up on their promise.

I can tell you now that there is no way Ireland votes for Samantha Mumba on name value alone. Zero chance. She’ll come 3rd at best in the televote.

Especially after the fact that she’s come out in support of Louis Walsh after the Boyzone documentary and the exposure of his behaviour during the height of their careers. To excuse his behaviour in the press isn’t going to bode well with her when the masses all feel sympathy for Mikey Graham and the others.
Shes sealed her own fate.
Plus her song is dire.

Yes…while she doesn’t want to bite the hand that’s likely working very hard behind the scenes to get her to Basel, it’s certainly an interesting strategy she’s taken, publicly defending someone that most of the country dislikes anyway and can’t wait to see ostracised.

I hope you’re right, but I’ve seen an awful lot of “I had Samantha’s poster on my wall when I was 12!” type comments on various Irish social media sites, so that’s a worry.

It’s not so much that RTÉ has a guaranteed place for a boy band, it’s more RTÉ has a guaranteed place for a Louis Walsh act, and this year it’s Samantha Mumba.

With so much bad publicity around Louis Walsh right now, I have my fingers tightly crossed that this might be the last we hear of him at Eurosong.

Perhaps it will be Maxi, Dick and Twink next year, runners up to Dana in 1970. For younger viewers, this is not a boy band or po*n movie.

Absolutely, but that, thankfully, is as close as we got. Twink fancies herself as multi-talented, so she’d have probably wanted to host, be the interval act and sing the Irish entry!
