Festivali di Sanremo 2025: Night 1
Top 5
This year brings some changes to the format of the Festival di Sanremo. On the first night, as usual, the press jury voted after all 29 songs were performed live. However, while a provisional ranking is created after each night, this year, it will not be made public. Instead, the audience will only know which artists made it into the top five, but in a completely random order.
The rankings from the first three nights are crucial for the contestants, as they will contribute to the final result in the Grand Final.
After the first night, the artists who made it into the top five are:
- Brunori Sas – “L’albero delle noci”
- Giorgia – “La cura per me”
- Lucio Corsi – “Volevo essere un duro”
- Simone Cristicchi – “Quando sarai piccola”
- Achille Lauro – “Incoscienti giovani”
Night 1 running order

Who was your favorite tonight? What are your thoughts about tonight’s top 5? Let us know in the comments below.
an ocean of tears in the comments here, i think we can see it thru satellite imagery
(The winner is the orchestra, obviously.) It’s not often I completely disagree with the press jury, but this time I do. With harsh, tangible lyrics combined with an edgy electro rap sound, Fedez easily wins this selection for me. Am I alone in this? (One of the lyrics will probably need adjusting for ESC, but this seems to be a good trend this year for NF winners.) Elodie is my second favourite; this was a classy performance and I can easily see this at ESC. After that I liked Giorgia, Francesco and Rose. Achille Lauro has a heartfelt touching moment… Read more »
You are not alone!
I think the victor will be Fedez or Francesco, probably Fedez.
I think maybe a lot of people are upset that the songs they just heard for the first time last night don’t sound as familiar as the ones they’ve been listening to on repeat for the last 12 months. Folks – give things a hot minute – get to know the songs – they’re mostly gorgeous 🙂 Good music is worth getting to know.
All these people bemoaning the slower songs… tell me, do you speak Italian?
It’s okay if you don’t, but for some songs it might really help. Lyrics are important!
100%
I agree for overall, for Eurovision tho songs should be good without understanding the lyrics because a good majority won’t understand or look up to the lyrics and will vote for their favourites of first listen. I can assure you 90% of Eurovision people to this day doesn’t know what Zitti e buoni means or Molitva but they still voted for this songs. If you need to check lyrics to appreciate the song that song wont make it far.
Ps. Didnt listen to any San remo song yet, just commenting on your sentiment
This is true
if Achille Lauro is in the sanremo top 5, you know italy has a weak line up, to see this san marino non qualifier doing well here haha
Ok is it me or is this uber boring line up of songs this year?
It’s you
My favorites were Gaia, Rkomi, Giorgia, Rose Villain, Elodie, Serena Brancale, Clara, Fedez, and Joan Thiele.
So like one in common with the actual top five is pretty good for me with Sanremo.
I also like a lot Sarah Toscano, her song is cool.
Am I the only one who thinks that Achille Lauro isn’t a good singer at all? He has personality but he missed quite a few notes yesterday.
No, you are not the only one, but in the case of Achille Lauro it doesn’t really matter. He’s not there to show off his vocal prowess, and never has been.
A non-Italian here. San Remo is not the national final for Eurovision; it is an older and more music (melody + lyrics) oriented competition than Eurovision. Unlike Eurovision, they still have a live orchestra to enjoy the music created at that moment. So they don’t (and hopefully will not in future) select a song for Eurovision, they just give the winner a chance to present his/her music in a very big competition (Eurovision) to people outside Italy. And regardless of the score they get, they always bring good music to Europe.
I like Sanremo and I know it is not for Eurovision selection; but if there are too many slow-tempo ballad songs at Sanremo, RAI should choose different song selection for Eurovision
Sanremo 2025 was like Sanremo edition from 1980s; with so many slow tempo ballad songs without diversity 🙁
Even the presenters were old, it seems that the new Director wants to make this show more appealing to order audience
People here enjoying BabyLasagna 2024 boring, repetitive consequence of sounds but not liking Giorgia 2025…
Because Baby Lasagna’s song was up tempo song; making you happy 🙂 Whereas, Giorgia’s song makes listeners bored; her song is good but outdated; saw so many Italian ballad songs like her song 🙁
Still, it is a nice song but it didn’t have even any melody which stay in mind.
I am sorry but I listened to Giorgia’s song and nothing left in my mind because it was average ballad song; nothing striking
That’s right what I wrote: Escfans generally prefer easy, obsessive tunes.
You can say whether you like Giorgia’s song; you definitely cannot say she’s not got a unique voice. 90% of Esc singers could not even hit properly a middle note
I love a good Italian ballad. But I’ve listened to this one 3 or 4 times now and I still can’t remember a single note. Whereas if you say “Fai rumore” I can immediately sing the chorus for you. This is just a mediocre song.
I really like Irama. I thinks he deserves to go to the ESC and he has so much passion when he’s performing. I’d love to see him on the Eurovision stage. No other performance caught my eye unfortunately, maybe The Kolors.
Same old same old artists being hyped every year. Italy is stuck.
Sorry that Italy is not Sweden bubble mans, loreen etc who only live for ESC bubble
Milla, I know you don’t really mean that. I understand your point, though! Mello gets a raw deal.
Not seeing many comments about Giorgia’s performance which surprises me! Her voice is insane and love how she mugs to the camera! I did not understand the lyrics but still felt the emotion. I would call the song nostalgia rather than dated and she sings the hell out of it!
I understand voting for meaningful lyrics (I am fluent in Italian so I understood them, but lyrics alone are not enough to make me emotional), but some of those songs had barely any singing or melody which is what stroke me as a bit odd that they were being lauded. I think I would have felt it way more if there was actually an impactful melody to carry those deeply felt lyrics. That aside, I really like most of the songs this year. Out of the top 5 of the first night, Giorgia gets the push, but I also loved… Read more »
This festival gives off a musty smell which, combined with the egocentrism of the Italians, makes it really unpleasant.
I love those who are envious!
go and listen to something else then. it’s our festival and we like it in this way. whatever comes out of Sanremo dictates what you listen in italy and italian radio, so we do not care about your comment. I wish your country has the same music industry like we do 🙂
I love Irama. Though I agree, “Tu no” was a better song than this year’s, but still he is amazing. I saw him live last November.
its The Kolors – TU CON CHI FAI L’AMORE that got me enticed.
I’m Italian and that’s my top 10:
1) Lucio Corsi – Lucio Corsi
2) Joan Thiele – Eco
3) Simone Cristicchi – Quando Sarai Piccola
4) Brunori Sas – L’albero delle Noci
5) Serena Brancale – Anema e Core
6) Shablo feat. Guè, Joshua e Tormento – La Mia Parola
7) Willy Peyote – Grazie ma no grazie
8) Bresh – La Tana del Granchio
9) Irama – Lentamente
10) Fedez – Battito
Same winner!
Honestly, this Sanremo festival is even less suitable for an international audience than previous ones, so I am not surprised that international fans do not understand the songs in the competition, much less the jury’s decision. It is a festival where you have to understand the Italian language because it is the words of the songs more than the melody that play the most important role. Also given such deep topics one has to have lived to understand and be touched by the songs. I, for example, who became a mother a few years ago, can say that I got… Read more »
The mere sight of Fedez is enough to make me change a channel, deeply disgusting individual
What has he done?
He was talking to his mistress on the phone 30 mins before his wedding ceremony + just seems like a monumental bozo in general
historic boom for Sanremo, ratings exceed 65% share, 12,500,000 viewers.
It marks +2,000,000 from last year, despite this year Carlo closing early and going against football.
It seems that all older Italians watched the festival as its new edition with more ballad songs appealed more to them

I love your “closing early” at 1:20am…. 🙂 Finally I would say!
The artistic director this year preferred to focus less on the show and more on the song. And he was rewarded with a historic record, reaching peaks of 18 million viewers
More on the song? He might have preferred only slow tempo ballad songs :/
Wow, last year almost all songs were incredible! I played at least 15 of them non-stop. This year… not a single one. Maybe Gaia and Rose Villain, but that’s it. Huge letdown.
An italian voice here.
The “boring ballads ” are meaningful songs that tell a story.
The press jury voted the lyrics not only the sound or the music.
And as you all know sanremo is also the national selection for eurovision, but is first and foremost a contest on its own.
So people will vote what they like and not what they think might fork for eurovision.
92 minuti di applausi
Finally. And I would also say that although in recent years those who have won have always decided to represent Italy with the winning song, it is not granted. I have the feeling that at least two artists from the top 5 of yesterday night would not go to Eurovision because it is not the environment where they can fully express their type of music (Simone Cristicchi and Brunori SAS).
boring ballads might even work as long as they have good staging or good performance such France last year.
Marco or Slimane’s ballads weren’t boring though.
I don’t know, maybe it’s because last year there were at least 5 or 6 truly incredible songs and the bar was raised almost impossibly high, but this year feels very bland in comparison. Not as much variation, the ballads are good, but none really stand out… I’m slightly disappointed. 🙁
Italian here – if everyone is surprised by the Press’ score, you have to know that Italy has a long history of poetic songwriting, and the artists in the Top5 (except for Achille Lauro and Giorgia) have very important, brave songs in terms of themes and songwriting. The press usually focus on that – the content of the song, its lyrics, its personal story behind it. Shocked to see foreigners didn’t like this year’s batch of song! For me it’s one of the strongest of recent years. The quality is very high. But I understand the language and cultural barrier… Read more »
I think it’s a very strong year – I don’t understand the other comments at all.
Exactly, they complain that Sanremo this year is flat in terms of genres (and this is partly true, let’s be clear) but they would like a Eurovision with all the same songs.
very well said
The Eurovision fandom should be aware of this by now. Without Sanremo there wouldn’t be Eurovision. And because Italy focuses on celebrating their music culture, it also does so well at Eurovision every year. Italy is praised every year for their high quality and therefore it’s the best out of the Big 5 countries.
Greetings from Switzerland!
This year is going to be unpredictable. Also it is possible that some of the frontrunners aren’t interested in going to Eurovision. For me the clear standout last night was Rose Villain. I also enjoyed the songs from Gabb an i, Noemi, Elodie, Moda, Brunori Sas and Fedez.
Unfortunately for me Irama and Achille Lauro felt a bit mediocre. And that’s coming from someone who has Ovunque Sarai and Tu No as my winners in 2022 and 2024 and also most of the times like Achille’s entries.

That top 5 is so weird. I’m surprised Gaia and Clara aren’t among them
you clearly do not know Sanremo’s history and environment and the range of people watching Sanremo.
My first year properly engaging with Sanremo, I can’t believe how much the Italians love a dramatic ballad! All of them lined up next to each other sound the same.
you have to understand the lyrics and the language to really get it. it’s an italian festival after all
Clearly, this are not THE top five contenders to go to Eurovision…
For me, it should be Rose Villain.
Joan Thiele is class.
Noemi supporters let me hear you!
Judging this one performance what a change of direction for Achille Lauro. The only song in the selection ive heard and a massive improvement on 2022. I await the others with interest.
Are the songs available to listen to yet?
Everyone I looked for on Spotify was available.
RAI has posted the performance clips on their Youtube channel. If its like most years, they will be gone in few weeks.
Simone or Giorgia will take it imo, and maybe somebody else would go to Eurovision like in 2016…because with all my respect for these 2 great artists but I don’t think their songs are really suitable for Eurovision.
Agree; they don’t fit well for Eurovision.
Giorgia would need to cut 40 seconds out of her song if she decides to go to ESC with that one.
Annalisa, Ghali, Mahmood, Alfa, The Kolors
Dragen D’Amico
Just a few artists of 2024 who would have easily won this years edition with their 2024 song
Agree; this year Sanremo is monotonous and quite boring
This was the most boring Sanremo edition that I ever watched. Also, couldn’t understand the Press voting; it seems that they just vote for slow ballads; rather than younger, up-tempo songs.
Italy disappointed me.
You should translate the lyrics to full understand the meaning of the songs. Music is not just tunz tunz tunz
I agree with you. But excluding Kolors, Elodie etc.; almost all balad songs have quite similar chorus and melody at Sanremo, not so distinguishable
Italy has a long-standing story of song-writers and the press loves that and they vote for it.
As long as Achille Lauro was among the Top 5 I’m pleased. That man never delivers a bad song and he was amazing tonight. My Numero Uno music artist in the entire world. He means the world to me. BTW, Elodie was my #2 so also pleasef to see her in the Top 5.
Elodie was fantastic. Achille surprised me as well, really enjoyed his performance.
Sorry, I made a mistake. I see now that Giorgia and not Elodie were among the hTop 5. That may happen when the show lasts until the middle of the night, lol.
Unpopu opinion: Lucio Corsi deserves to win Sanremo
Predictions: Olly wil win
One of the standout performances of the night for me! Looking forward to hearing more from him this week <3
i think my top 3 were elodie, fedez, and the kolors
its only the first night ig, but a lot of these songs sounded kinda the same…
Clara, Elodie, Rose songs are my standouts but seeing the top 5 tonight I’m confused….
Elodie, Clara, Gaia, The Kolors and Joan were the standouts for me.
I really question the musical taste of rhe Press who voted today; they either really don’t have musical taste or they are quite old.
?t is obvious that Simone Cristicchi and Brunori SAS were rhe two weak songs.
Music is beautiful because it can express emotions, feelings, ideas in so many different ways. Simone Cristicchi and Brunori SAS simply have different genres, the fact that you do not appreciate a genre does not objectively make the song weak.
Simone and Brunori (and Lucio Corsi) had the best lyrics of this year by far. Italy has a strong tradition of singer-songwriters with amazing poetic lyrics and complex human feelings. The press voted for that.
Press journalists unprofessional for another year. And why are they given so much power on Sanremo? Should be ditched forever. And all this concept of them hearing the songs and then creating a list of favorites before people even heard the song doesn’t click with me at all.
Agree; they have no musical taste. Simone Cristicchi and Brunori SAS were quite bad; dont think that they should be in top5.
Press jury is something that no longer works for a national final that intends to have a powerful contestant at ESC. It is clearly outdated.
This year the televoting will be much stronger, simply on this night only the press jury voted.
Me happy with Lucio Corsi and Achille Lauro at top5(or top jury votes or what was it I’m not so sure but anyway…)
Good night until tomorrow lads .
I wonder why the Press never votes for Elodie 🙁 Do the press members only like slow-tempo ballad songs?
Absolutely freaky today’s TOP5. Hope this can completely change during the week.
