A new year means a new start for Lithuania, as they aim to put last year’s disappointment behind them with the return of their 10-week selection process “Eurovizijos” dainu konkurso nacionaline atranka (aka Eurovizijos atranka 2018). Heat one kicked off tonight and six acts qualified for the next round.

Tonight’s opening show saw 13 participants sing it out on the first heat. The lineup included several returnees from last year’s competition, most notably semi-finalist Ieva Zasimauskaite. Luck was on her side as she won the heat with her song “When We’re Old”. Ieva topped both the jury and televote.

She will be joined in the next stage of the competition by Godo with “Fire Fountain”, Milda Rasilaviciute with “I Think About You”, Lukas Norkunas with “Tegu”, Germante Kinderyte with”Turn It Up” and Benas Malakauskas with “My Memories”.

Eurovizijos atranka 2018 – heat one results

The 2018 voting process remains unchanged from last year’s competition. The overall vote consists of 50% televoting, combined with the other 50% from the national juries.

Combined results

The jury and televote both had Ieva ZasimauskaiteGodo and Milda Rasilaviciute in their top six. Germante Kinderyte made it into the final on televotes alone, while Benas Malakauskas had the televote to thank for boosting his score. Lukas Norkunas had the jury to thank for his qualification, though he still placed high with the televote.

Leva was captivating. I can see her at Eurovision…and the song is good in my opinion.

Ieva is boring, Germante and Benas are the best.

I’m from Lithuania, so this is my point of view. I really didn’t find any of these songs suitable for Eurovision. Ieva for sure was the best, but still not Eurovision song. I personally love Lukas song but again I don’t see it in Portugal. So now we need to wait for other batch of singers and hopefully better songs.

Blood Roses and Serious seemed interesting, sad they’re gone. Glad for Godo – keep Lithuania weird! 🙂

Ieva’s song isn’t exceptionnaly good, but it’s a nice dreamy ballad. She struggles a bit with the low notes but I love the way she performs sitting on the floor (it gives her a charming look) and I wouldn’t mind seeing Ieva representing Lithuania this year. On the other hand, what’s with Godo ? This is Fusedmarc 2.0 : a weird song with little structure and nonsensical lyrics (“and I know, and I know, and I know…”) and a weirder performance. Hope Lithuanians learned from their mistakes… Quite surprised to see Aiste in the jury despite the jury killing her… Read more »

Godo’s and Ieva’s entries were the best ones last night in my opinion. Germanty Kinderyte second in the televoting… don’t know what to say about it. The song was trashy, but not in an entertaining way. The singer didn’t seem comfortable on stage, so once again, I’ve got to say: If you want to go for something trash, it’s okay, but you’ve got to be committed to what you’re doing.

I don’t understand. Is she now the representative of Lithuania in the ESC 2018 in Portugal???

No. She just won one of the uncountable heats of the Lithuanian selection.

Beautifully written song….simply stunning. Her vocals are pure and honest. There is no gimmicks here….Love it!

I just don’t get this hype over Godo… Her performance was ‘Fusedmarc 2.0’ – a strange song, which is forgotten just after she finishes it, her choreography was also as weird as Victoria’s from Fusedmarc, not to mention her terrible outfit… OK, Lithuanian jury has always liked such ‘alternative’ performances so there is nothing surprising about those 12 points but this to come 3rd in televote ???

Ieva was good but my winner is Benas. Don’t understand why he only barely made it.

Her singing in the lower parts of the beginning of the song is dreadful! Unstable voice, now power, even unsure about the pitch sometimes.

I really hate the idea about open voting whole show. They would make so much more if it was secret. U can technically buy the ticket to next heat.

Yeah, as if you couldn’t buy the votes when televote lasts only 15min in the end of the show…
In fact, I remember that in 2014 or 2015 there was one guy disqualified from Eurovizijos atranka just because he received some votes from phone numbers which were inactive… So, LRT takes an action if it sees something suspicious

No,if voting lasts only 15 minutes instead of 2hours it would make huge difference in cases like using huge amount of different sim cards.
Which is,believe me, happens a lot.

Could you please give me some evidences either that voting length has an impact on number of votes or that voting is fraudulent ???
Of course, the answer is no… You only ‘believe’ it.

She’s really not good during the quiet part at the beginning. Can’t really see such a slow song doing well if it makes it either (eg. Claudia Faniello, and she had pretty perfect vocals)

Well deserved. And I’m pleased the viewers saved Germante.
But why do they reveal the individual scores? Kills a bit of the (potential) drama.

Cause it goes on for so long, the favourites tend to change. You can check previous editions where the winners didn’t win their first heat. Although I agree they shouldn’t show it cause it does kinda kill the suspense.

You actually watch Eurovizijos atranka from Heat 1??? I’m from Lithuania, and even we can’t cope with it – we tune in in like semi-finals, when all the garbage is filtered out. Wow you people are patient.
