Two-time Junior Eurovision winner Belarus is on the hunt for its next star. Earlier this year BTRC — the Belarusian state broadcaster — revealed that it would, as ever, stage a national selection during the summer. Now the Belarusian broadcaster has revealed more details: as of 18 June, it had already received 37 songs from Belarus’ aspiring young pop stars. The number of songs can still expand or shrink according to the broadcaster’s wishes.

In only a few days — on 26 June — BTRC will have a select number of those entries and artists perform in front of a professional jury. This jury will choose the 10 best songs for the national final, which is scheduled for 21 August. The winner will, of course, be named the Belarusian representive for Junior Eurovision 2015 in Sofia.

The competition promises to be fierce. Belarus has one of the best track records at JESC, having won in 2005 and 2007, and having finished in third in 2011 (with a gorgeous ballad) and 2013 (with choreography that popped). Last year Nadezhda Misyakova came seventh with her song “Sokal”. The staging wowed us in Malta — just check out her LED — and we still think she deserved more. You can relive her JESC journey below.

Wow, I just listened to the 2011 song. That is AMAZING! One of the best Eurovision songs I have heard (yes, both contests included). It is so mature and inspiring, but it retains a youthful vibe.
