Kalomira, the Greek-American diva who represented the Land of the Gods at Eurovision 2008, is speaking out against bullying. The “Secret Combination” singer was horrified to learn about an 11-year-old boy’s attempted suicide after bullies harassed him beacuse of his passion for popular children’s TV show My Little Pony.
Kalomira, a mother of two twin boys, took to her blog, with compassionate and tender words.
Listen to me please…IGNORE THESE FOOLS THAT MAY BULLY YOU.
Appearances can be deceiving. Although Kalomira looks picture perfect, she’s faced struggles too. Born in West Hampstead, New York, Kalomira stood out for her parents’ Greek heritage, the fact they ran a restaurant, and their lack of money.
Be yourself. I was bullied as a child all the time. People bullied me for always singing everywhere and for the way I talked and also because my parents were poor and would drop me off at school in their beat up old car!
There were plenty of times when she felt alone.
This one time, my mom let me have a birthday party/sleep over at my house and I was SO EXCITED because it was my first time! Well the day of my party I was outside waiting for all the girls to show up and only one girl did.
Kalomira, we salute you! As your performance from Eurovision 2008 shows, it is possible to overcome the bullying and fly.
Kalomira, you were great on stage. Come back to ESC, you’re very welcome.
Dafuq do people have against people watching My Little Pony?
I mean, if they want to watch it, then let them. It’s not their life you’re controlling, you dork.
I was one of those watchers when i was 14 (Also want to remind that I am a boy).
I ain’t doing it anymore, but heck. If you want to watch MLP then alright. I don’t see people complain about Spongebob…
omg, how can you bully kalomira? kids are crap. and i hope the my little pony boy’s mother buys him even MORE ponies.
