Twenty-eight songs. Four semi-finals. And now 12 finalists. Next Saturday at the final of Melodifestivalen 2018, Sweden will decide who succeeds Robin Bengtsson and becomes its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Portugal in May. Eight acts qualified direct from their semi-finals, four survived duels at Andra Chansen and now all twelve have a shot of winning the final. So we want to know who you think that should be.
Maybe you think Mariette’s time has arrived? Or perhaps you prefer Benjamin Ingrosso and his light display? Or could it be the case that Felix Sandman is your favourite to win now that he’s flying solo (and with that very large microphone)? Whichever one of the terrific twelve is your favourite we want to know!
You can vote for as many of the twelve finalists as you like in the poll below, but beware, you can only vote once so make your vote count! We’ll reveal the results before the acts take to the stage at Friends Arena on March 10.
Who should win the final of Melodifestivalen 2018?
1. Mendez with “Everyday”
2. Renaida with “All The Feels”
3. Martin Almgren with “A Bitter Lullaby”
4. John Lundvik with “My Turn”
5. Jessica Andersson with “Party Voice”
6. LIAMOO with “Last Breath”
7. Samir and Viktor with “Shuffla”
8. Mariette with “For You”
9. Felix Sandman with “Every Single Day”
10. Margaret with “In My Cabana”
11. Benjamin Ingrosso with “Dance You Off”
12. Rolandz with “Fuldans”
[polldaddy poll=9951687]Voting in the final of Melodifestivalen 2018 will be split between international juries and televoting. International juries will reveal their votes first and then televoting results will be added to the jury scores to give a final result. Last year Robin Bengtsson won the jury vote but, failed to win the televote.
I am sooooo hoping for my favorite JESSICA ANDERSON! This song gets stuck in your head for days… and i already remember the whole lyrics..
Love it!!
But I also love Margaret, Benjamin and Liamoo
Felix Sandman or Samir & Viktor to win please. Just not Benjamin… It’s too manufactured for me and nothing special. Also it would be the fourth year in a row a young-ish male won with an overrated song.
In the swedish Spotifychart Felix is best today anyway, then Mendesz followed by Samir och Viktor. Then Benjamin.
MARGRET FTW!!
If Benjamin wins, it will be sth similar to last year. Good looking guy with a pop song and a cool staging. If Felix wins, it wil be sth like Frans in 2016.
Personally, I like both Benjamin and Felix. I also like John as well as Samir and Victor.
I think all 4 can qualify.
My top 3 of who I like and think has got the best chances:
1. Samir & Viktor
2. Felix Sandman
3. Benjamin Ingrosso
I’ve listened to the song for first time. My favs: Rolandz – “Fuldans” and Felix Sandman – “Every Single Day”.
And I would like Samir & Viktor – “Shuffla” if it wasn’t paste copy “Papa Americano” XD
And I really surprised with Melodifestivalen. It’s known for being smth greatest national selection. But in reality it’s meh. The only great thing is stage. Songs are meh. Either dated or clishe or bad vocals. We had better national final for sure.
It’d be funny if Margaret won bc Sweden would be sending a Pole and Poland would be sending a Swede.
In my opinion, Felix Sandman should. He has a beautiful song and the one I like the most, and his acting when singing is great. Sincerely, most of other songs have just empty insubstantial lyrics for me.
i will vote for margaret, she deserved it after escapeing from authoritarian Poland
I think she just got the ferry, love.
I just listend to Melfest songs for the first time. And here is my top 3(songs that stuck in my head after the first listen)
1. Dance you off
2. Shuffla
3. For you
My favourite is Felix Sandman’s “Every Single Day”. Renaida’s song is good, but becames a bit repetitive. Mariette’s “For you” was engaging at the beggining, but then… meh. And “Fuldans” is, well, very silvery. The rest seems so alike, I can’t seem to differentiate. Go Sweeden!
Margaret? Seriously?
Even though the hate on Sweden is massive in this community. Swedish aucience doesn´t seem to think so.The songs are doing phenomenally well on Swedish spotify. This is Melfest entries on Swedish Top 30. A total of 14 entries. 1. Shuffla Samir & Viktor 2. Everyday Mendez 3. Every Single Day Felix Sandman 6. Dance You Off Benjamin Ingrosso 8. In My Cabana Margaret 9. Last Breath Liamoo 10. Fuldans Rolandz 14. For You Mariette 15. My Turn John Lundvik 18. Patrick Swayze Sigrid Bernson 23. Party Voice Jessica Andersson 24. Cuba Libre Moncho 25. Never Learn Olivia Eliasson 26.… Read more »
Just asking out of curiosity: why did you place Renaida so low?
These are where the Songs are placed in the spotify top 30, it’s not an opinion. These are Facts. ^^
I am pretty sure Benjamin will win, the pretty boy with a boring song. Should be S&V with Shuffla for the win, if only they could make up a cute little dance to go with it, create a hype, it´s too messy and incoherent now!
I hope the winner will be Mariette or Benjamin!!!:)
I personally prefer Margaret, John Lundvik, Martin Almgren and Mendez (although he’s been quite bad live). Based on what I think will actually win it’s Benjamin Ingrosso or Samir & Viktor. But considering how the Swedes can be sometimes… I would not even be surprised if Rolandz win. XD
Also, this is definitely the worst MF for years, especially considering the quality of the songs. For once, I really don’t care who wins, because I’ll probably be disappointed anyway.
Felix is the only act that could come top 5 in Lisbon in my opinion. Mariette and Benjamin are good performers but their songs are very poor.
Ok, I’ve calmed down and went somewhere else to watch all the videos and I have to say, it’s not gonna be an easy choice. I’d say 10 of the 12 are great. But how on earth are you all gonna choose a song from this group? Every song represents a different style of music. You have Pop, Country, Rap, Scat, Dance, Lounge, etc. etc. I am flabbergasted by the diversity of songs. Congrats to the winner, but in my book, there all winners.
Anyone but Samir & Viktor or Mendez
OMFG! Can’t you make the video’s available in the U.S.? What’s the freakin deal?
They’re unavailable everywhere except in Sweden. Quit complaining.
Not really, I am not in Sweden and I can watch them…
I’m in Canada and they are also banned for us as well alas. 🙁
You can watch them, ONLY on SVT.play, they have the videos available there
I’d like to see S&V or Jessica Andersson, I think Felix also has a chance. But tbh Im 99% sure it’s gonna be Benjamin.
i have a feeling In My Cabana could surprise in the night, it’s a very solid song
I dont understand how people can claim that MF was bad this year. I have so many favourites this year. This will be a year when no one will know who will win until the very end I think. Almost every other year MF has been more or less predictable… With one or two songs in strong contention.. This year at least 6-7 songs can win! People complain about MF every year. And every year MG has high ratings and every song charts in the Swedidh charts… I think Felix, Benjamin or Mariette will win.. But I can also see… Read more »
I’m standing behind Margaret and Jessica Andersson.
Margaret is my favourite.
If they want to send ballad best choice Martin then John
If they want to send uptempo song best choice Benjamin, Renaida, Samir and Victor
I think winner will be Benjamin. Dark horse for win maybe John
I like Benjamin, Samir and Victor, Renaida , Jessica
NO ONE, THIS IS THE WORST MELODIFESTIVALEN EVER, NO FINAL FO SWEDEN THIS YEAR
I agree with you worst MF from 2002. Sweden will always be in final, thanks to overrated points by juries. If they have 1 points from televote in semi, they will get 100 to 150 from juries.
If Benjamin is selected, he will be in the final for sure. 🙂
There are already so many winners in this field. Mendez: The icon of the 2002 rebirth of MelFest comes back after 15 years, not knowing how the Swedish public would react. Many former heroes have fallen from grace on the Mello stage. Not so Mendez. Renaida: The standard Swedish Idol reject narrative. Sweet nonetheless. Martin Almgren: An exceedingly rare case of an all female writing team in a MelFest final. Except for a boatload of songs from Ingela Pling, the only other one which comes to my mind is “Why Am I Crying” from 2012. The interval acts this year… Read more »
Thanks for the positive review. 🙂
So does “folkkär” mean “loved by the masses”?
OK, I just wrote two long ass replies which refuses to come through. ^^ So I’ll keep it shorter.
Yes, basically “folkkär” means someone has attained a high level of acceptance by the people. One needs to be charismatic, competent, and credible, as well as sincere, affable, and unpretentious.
You’re basically the definition of folkkär then (minus high level of acceptance)! I know that’s a random thing to say but considering how negative this fandom can be, compliments like this are warranted 🙂
Thanks a lot. Really appreciate it.
You’re welcome!
Benjamin please. Liamoo and S&V would also be acceptable.
I’d like to see Shuffla or Renaida for Sweden, but we know that’s not happening.
My top 12:
1. Every Single Day 9.5
2. My Turn 9.3
3. Last Breath 9.0
4. Shuffla 8.5
5. Party Voice 8.2
6. In My Cabana 7.8
7. Fuldans 7.3
8. All The Feels 7.2
9. A Bitter Lullaby 7.0
10. Dance You Off 6.2
11. For You 6.0
12. Everyday 5.8
My prediction:
1-4: Benjamin, Liamoo, Felix, Mariette
5-8: Samir & Viktor, Jessica, Margaret, John
9-12: Martin, Rolandz, Renaida, Mendez
They should internally select Petra Mede with a revamped 2018 version of “Love Love Peace Peace”. She’d leaps and bounds ahead of all of those.
* she’d be
I PREFEER HER TOO
Any dream will do. But my favourite is Benjamin Ingrosso, followed by John Lundvik.
For me it’s Felix. His song is much better than FO&O last year, it’s building nicely and the melody of the chorus stays in my head.
I’m very unimpressed by Benjamin, he’s good but I find the song so flat and there are so much backing vocals that I can’t hear his voice in the chorus. Good luck to everyone anyway.
Felix has the best song, period.
I hate to burst peoples bubbles.. But Margaret will not win… Likely.. She will more so place somewhere between 5-10 …
When was the last time that a song from Andra Chansen won, just out of curiousity?
2013. First and only time.
I don’t think many people expect her to win, but they still might want her to. I personally see In My Cabana as the best one from the bunch, but then again, I praise Havana as the greatest masterpiece in the whole history of music 😀 Benjamin or Liamoo would probably get the best result in Eurovision tho
I am hoping for either Benjamin, Jessica or Margaret to win. I think Benjamin has the best chance of doing so.
Mariette, Felix or Benjamin will likely win.. Somehow I think Felix could surprise everyone
I’m not so sure. I think the international juries are as likely to sink Felix as they are to sink Samir & Viktor. What do we really know about these juries? History suggests they favor the more schlager-y/stereotypical Eurovision style songs.
Mariette will never be a winner, baby.
I like Rolandz. The singer is a comedy actor and the song is IMO meant to be a funny joke. I like that. He has so much humor!
I want Liamoo to win, very modern, current and something a bit different for Eurovision. I would not mind Mariette or Samir & Viktor winning either though.
I’m not at all sure who the winner will be, though on balance I think it will probably be Benjamin. The juries will fall for the slick staging, the cute boy and forget that the song is not so hot. I doubt he will top the televote, I can even see two or three others beating him there. A week out, I predict a repeat of last year – despite the slight changes to the system, the juries will be the decider and be totally at odds with what the Swedish public actually want.
I would say this feels like a bunch of Melfest rejects – but it is Melfest…
As I said on earlier occasions, the only thing left for Benjamin Ingrosso is to lift the trophy. Another year without Sweden among my favourites. Samir & Viktor would change that easily, but they aren’t exactly what Bjorkman likes to send…
#TeamIngrosso
I’m not loving all these Despacito/Havana “inspired” songs in the national selections this year, but I have to say Cabana in my banana is growing on me. Margaret is surprisingly charismatic as a performer and her voice stands out. Personally I’d like to see Shuffla in Lisbon – Sweden, take one for the team!
I think Benjamin and Mariette would both have a good chance for a Top 5 finish. Mariette definitely needs to switch up the awkward choreo and change the outfit, though.
Anyone but another boring random guy TBH. Even if that means Mariette.
If Margaret wins (I know, unlikely, but you never know), it would be an interesting parallel with Jessika, who tried out for Malta many times before representing San Marino. Margaret, singer of a fan-favorite Cool Me Down, singing for Sweden, would be another example of international exchange. And if Latvians could vote for a Brazilian artist, don’t tell me it’s impossible.
Well, there is already Swedish guy singing Polish-written song for Poland, so it’s maybe time for Sweden to reciprocate and send Polish girl singing Swedish-written song!
I was thinking that! 😀
No Margarets song is not good! I do not care about her old merits, if you do not deliver a good song, you do not deserve to win, and that’s it!
Have no idea why everyone likes her song about sex in her cabana but it is a horrible song to be honest!
@Colin, you can’t be serious? She shouldn’t win simmply because there are better songs/performances. Her song is ok, but nothing special, it is already great achievement that she’s in final.
I’m not saying she is the best, I am just saying she would be less predictable choice for Sweden, a country that is becoming predictable in their choices. My favorites are Samir & Viktor and Felix. Still, Margaret is better than Mariette, at least.
Then we have same favourites, but Felix is still my no. 1.
I think its between Benjamin Margaret and possibly Marriette (it is my least favourite of her attempts ) .its theres not a huge pool of great songs this year to be honest but any of these 3 would let Sweden do well
Margaret song is so overrated by the fans. But because it’s Sweden, even an average song like this can end Top 10 in ESC, that’s sad for music ..
Benjamin, Felix and LIAMOO are my top picks. Mariette too but needs a staging and choreo revamp.
