Here come the girls! Sixteen female soloists will take to the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon in May.
These ladies don’t come to play, they come to slay and if they have their way they’ll be the ones walking away with the Eurovision trophy at the end of the Grand Final on May 12.
Nine female soloists have won the Eurovision Song Contest in the 21st century and the class of 2018 have a lot to live up to. Winners like Lena, Loreen and Jamala have gone on to become Eurovision icons.
This year’s female soloists come from all corners of Europe and they all bring different genres to the table.
We think they have what it takes, but we want to know what you think. Who’s your favourite female soloist at Eurovision 2018? You can review the songs below and can then vote for as many of the ladies as you like. But beware, you can only vote once, so make your vote count: don’t leave your henny hanging!
Let us know who you’re rooting for in the comments below too.
We’ll close the poll and reveal the results prior to first rehearsals in Lisbon!
Israel -Netta – it’s so cool
PORTUGAL, GREECE AND BELGIUM.
Definitely Estonia. I think there is no female vocalist like Elina this year!
Then I’ll go with Finland, Israel and Australia.
SuRie sounds like Annie Lennox.
I voted for Netta, because of her originality. Estonia, cause the woman rocks.
Belgium because I think the girl has a fantastic voice (even though I hate the song).
And Saara, because I love her. 😀
IM INLOVE WITH NETTA
MY TOP 3:
3. ESTONIA
2. CYPRUS
1. ISRAEL
Israel’s Netta. Best vocals, best song, best attuitude.
Portugal and Greece!!!
Songs aside, SuRie by far. She is genuine, hilarious and absolutely lovely. She should be topping the poll here if people voted on personality.
ok she is lovely but we talking about a music comp. and it can help if you have a good personality but her song is boring.
My top three soloists are Belgium, Greece, and Estonia. They’re each doing very different things, but I like all of those things and they do them well.
That said, I honestly enjoy most of the others, as well, and Cyprus and Finland and Israel aren’t far off the leaders, for me. There’s very little here that I actively dislike. This is truly a strong year.
And watch this too: Sennek about her song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJpSg45WYUQ
Sennek is so nice and very driven at the same time. It’s admirable. Belgium is certainly in my personal top 10 and them winning ESC would be so cool.
Hey William an all wiwibloggers, look what I’ve just found, very interesting background information: http://esctoday.com/161305/israel-the-man-behind-nettas-toy-doron-medalie/
Sennek is the best vocalist, I don’t make the rules
Cláudia Pascoal, so classy… I really dislike Israel, the girl can sing but the song is horrible…
So RIGHT!
It is a difference between ‘yout favourite’ and ‘best’ female vocalist, but the question seems to appear both way. About who’s the best, I don’t think there is any doubt, there are more good voices, but Elina is by far the best. She’s from a category from another level of music.
Agree. She’s from the category of emotionless robot that can reach ridiculously high notes. It’s not music, it’s sports. She could definitely win a gold medal in the Olympics of Pitch, but not Eurovision. Sorry.
@ Illuussoo
Well Eurovision is kinda Olympic Games of music…
Perhaps you are a robot if you aren’t able to feel the emotion and recognize it as a song, at least the melody part? I guess the force is too powerful for you to handle.
But hey, you’re entitled to not to like it, tastes are different anyways…
Greece is the best. Love her and the song.
But how can Israel be favourite? It’s terrible. Eeeew.
Still can´t believe it that Israel is the best right now? People what happend?
All the other songs ltrly sound like each other.. the only one who stands out is Israel this year….
*cough* Estonia *cough*
Estonia have an amazing singer but the song is boring af
Apart from that all the songs above are all very different and span lots of genres. Please tell me how Ieva and SuRie for example sound anything alike
It happened something called witty originality and amazing experimental pop music, for the first (and sadly only) time this year. That’s what happened.
Agree!
EASY, ISRAEL!!! She doesn’t have even any competition…QUEEN!!!
Sennek, Elina, Netta, Claudia and Gianna.
And for those who wonder how Netta ( from Israel ) preforms live , all I can say is she is even better on stage with tons of charisma , you just cant take your eyes of her.
See here :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYG1GngcLRY?
OMG! She HAS TO win! <3 <3 <3
This is completely irrelevant to the topic (and the year) but that video reminded me of some videos I saw of Hovi Star in the same competition and I’m still flabbergasted as to why his career hasn’t blown up. His talent and charisma are off the charts.
Netta is great, too.
Jessica e Christabelle are my favourite among all contestants. At first I was undecided, at the end I voted Australia!!
You could have voted for both.
Quoting:
“You can review the songs below and can then vote for as many of the ladies as you like. But beware, you can only vote once, so make your vote count: don’t leave your henny hanging!”
Elina & Aisel are above all + Netta #3
Toy definitely wins the most disappointing chorus award this year. The build-up is great but the chorus is absolutely terrible by comparison.
For me, Sennek and Netta seem like the most talented, well-rounded artists. There are many talented vocalists, but having a great voice usually doesn’t get you that far. For example, Saara Aalto is a great singer (her voice is not everyone’s cup of tea but I think it’s undeniable that she’s gifted), but I think she’s mediocre at best as a songwriter and her “artistic vision” is very lackluster.
For me:
1. Croatia
2. Cyprus
3. I do not know!
That will most likely will be forgotten by the televote….
From all these performers Sennek should be the favorite , great singer , great person , great song , nice country. Belgium hype anyone?
She’s my second favorite, great song!
I was initially disappointed but her song has been the biggest grower for me so far.
I can confirm that Elina can sing outside of opera. I have seen her singing some songs that weren’t opera in our local tv shows several years ago. It was before she started to take opera seriously. Elina still can sing non-operatic songs, but she likes opera the most 🙂
They are all very good, but Jessica Mauboy got my vote, I really love that song and the way she sings.
I think all songs on that list suck. I believe Lichtenstein should win!
THE ONLY ANSWER:
AMAIA.
Spain is the dark horse of the year and winner of 2018. Mark my words.
Could be, but Amaia isn’t a soloist.
Stop making Spain not happen too and respect everybody’s opinion. A lot of people like Spain’s entry and they are not openly supporting it because of you haters answering against them. Bullying. And yes, in my opinion Amaia has the most beautiful and sweet voive I ve heard in a long time, but she is not included obviously in the soloist poll.
Why don’t you respect his opinion too? Talk about freedom of speech huh? If he hates it he has every right of expressing it, it’s not ‘hate’. There’s nothing hateful or bullying about what he said.
Go spread your paranoia somewhere else.
Who is this crazy?
Jose Mourinho to Arsenal! I will be his assistant! It will be new, british Real Madrid! New colors will be white and red, because red is ManU and Liverpool. We must be different and better. This will be the new capital of the world. Polish singer Margaret thinks that the two most important countries in Europe are Norway and Sweden. But this is only about Europe. Football is about whole world. Let’s create a new Real Madrid in London. Real Madrid is white, Arsenal FC will be white and red as Poland. I’m from Poland of course. New outfits will… Read more »
amen!
PLEASE not Israel. 🙁
I know! That one is physically painful to listen to!
i really dont like that people like you just come to the comment section because the artist you like isnt getting voted … Israel slays this year deal with it….
I don’t like Israel either. Everybody has their own opinion. Slaying and topping youtube views and likes doesn’t guarantee that you’ll win eurovision. Look at the previous years!
stop being anti-semitic!
This is now the third or forth comment that I saw like that. This is absolutely unaccepable calling people that, only because they don’t like Israel’s song.
Babes. Just No.
Anti-semitic? Because I don’t like all the gimmickry or desperation of the track?
But, but, but, I loved Nadav Guedj’s 2015 entry — I’m confused ~~
I actually LOVE Israeli song. It is unique, catchy and has a say.
Won’t deny that anti-Semitism might play a part in the Israeli backlash, but it’s more likely due to how polarising the song is. People who loved Made of Stars will likely be unable to stand this.
Actually, only two duets (Italy and Spain), but several duos in which one is a vocalist and the other is instrumentalist (France, Switzerland, Macedonia). Also, few groups, some with one vocalist (Hungary, Romania), some with many (Georgia, Moldova, Serbia). And there is San Marino – too disproportionate to be a duet, yet Jenifer’s role is too big to say Jessika is a soloist.
You must be fun at parties.
Colin is lovely. 🙂
Thank you and right back at you 🙂
I agree ….. it’s not a good idea to do a separate poll for only 3 acts!
Portugal.
Israel…*sigh* She doesn’t even have the best voice.
Italy was a flop last year only because of the very boring and obvieous staging they had…. Israel nailed theire staging ltrly every year…. I have a good feeling netta is gonna come top 10… And ps salvador sobral didnt have the best voice last year and he was rated by a lot of the fans last and see what happend…. (;
Israel’s poor staging left them in 35th place in 2014 with one of the best songs competing that year. They don’t always get it right.
Moreover, unlike their last three songs, this will be difficult to stage if they want to avoid being seen like a joke.
For me, Elina and Claudia are the most magical. Their voices are the ones that I truly can’t wait to hear in Lisbon. I’m still keen for Tallinn 2019, personally.
2016 – Baltic Boys (Justs, Jüri, Donny)
2018 – Baltic Girls (Laura, Elina, Ieva)
And in 2017, they were all male/female groups!
Would you look at that! What a sincronization! 🙂
Baltic girls FTW, by the way!
2020 Baltic grannies.
2018 Baltic Babes. Although if Elina places last overall Juri there will be uproar.
Estonia, definitely.
OBVIOUSLY ISRAEL!!
I voted for some of the big faves (Elina, Sennek, and Netta are all awesome) and a few I believe deserve more attention (SuRie, Christabelle, Ieva)
For me:
Finland
Croatia
Israel
I voted for Elina.
Elina, Netta and Saara are my trinity!
They are such different yet fantastic vocalists with different talents. What a bae trinity though
Estonia and Portugal for me.
Whoever is not a diva would be under my opinion a perfect choice as long as she has a good personal song with beautiful andcreative lyrics.
Cláudia and Laura
No San Marino? Why?
They suck so much that the polling software refused to add them.
You suck so much wood bamboo but the software doesn’t stop your comments from getting added
Well, would it. The software likes my comments. And I’ll suck nothing. 😉
Probably you sucked the software developers’ pole too
Not that I’m aware of. But if you’re Evan Peters, we could have a negotiation, dear. Otherwise, beat it. 😉
https://youtu.be/oRdxUFDoQe0
That’s a duo that’s why
The Rapper is more like a backing vocalist . This is no different than Portugal. IMO.
It’s a matter of the name of the official entrant!
It has two names for San Marino
whereas there is only one official entrant for Portugal
