After internally selecting their Eurovision artists since 2016, North Macedonia has returned to using a national final. Now broadcaster MRT has revealed the six songs that are competing to represent North Macedonia at Eurovision 2022. But which is your favourite?

The six Za Evrosong 2022 entries now face an online vote, with 50% televote, 50% international jury. Local viewers can watch lyric videos for their favourite songs and vote. This will be combined with a vote from an international jury of experts.

The online voting is currently open and will close this Friday, 4 February 2022.

The act with the highest score will win the ticket to represent North Macedonia at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

What is your favourite song in North Macedonia’s Za Evrosong 2022?

The viewers from North Macedonia and the expert jury will have their say, but what do you think? Which competing act in Za Evrosong 2022 is your favourite? Listen to the six competing songs and vote in our poll. As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like — but you can only vote once, so make it count!

We’re supplementing each video with details and quotes provided by the broadcaster in North Macedonia.

Andrea – “Circles”

Andrea says: “The domestic audience now knows me better, which means they have expectations to some extent, so I hope I will meet those, and maybe even exceed them.”

Kaly  –  “Love and Light”

“Visibly excited, yet calm with colorful thoughts in my head.” That’s Kaly on her song, which she describes as carrying a powerful message that each of us needs to repeat more often. She thinks we are all created of love and light, and that luck comes from effort and struggle. “Live more optimistically with the arrows on the moral compass pointing in the right direction,” she says.

Lara – “Flower of Sorrow”

Lara says she is impatiently waiting for the audience to react to her song. She emphasizes that for her it is of the utmost importance that the listeners feel the emotion the song brings.

Ris Flower – “Flying to Berlin”

“I am looking forward to the moment when the audience will feel the enormous energy and emotion intertwined in my song,” Mr. Flower says. “The whole team is very thrilled to be a part of this. I truly believe that the message of the song will get to everyone.”

Yon Idy – “Dreams”

“I am very glad that the song managed to enter the top 6 selection and has a real chance to be selected for a representative song at Eurovision. This is an opportunity I have been waiting for a long time and I am looking forward to the final result,” says Yon Idy. He says that “Dreams” reflects the tensions between dreaming and the difficulties of reality. But he hopes his cheery melody makes people happy.

Viktor Apostolovski – “Superman”

Viktor has been dreaming of Eurovision since he was a child. “It’s a stage I’ve always wanted to conquer and I think ‘Superman‘ carries such a contagious groove that it will make you all wanna shake. I hope the audience will feel the energy we want to bring to the stage and the message we want to convey, and that everyone will resonate to our frequency.”

“Circles” is the only competent one in my opinion… I feel like it may be a bit generic but in a good way. Also if her voice is as good live as it is in the studio version it may carry her farther than most would expect. Kind of like a Lithuania in 2018. An okay song that was elevated by Ieva’s raw and crisp vocals.

“Circles” is the best song of the bunch in my opinion. It feels sincere and we can see Andrea is really feeling it when she sings. I guess her vocals could be divisive, but they have character. “Flowers of Sorrow” is that standard power ballad we always have in Eurovision and if she sings like that live, she could get some jury support. It would be a decent even if far from exciting choice. And then there’s “Superman”. This is bad, last place with the juries bad. But it’s that kind of bad that becomes entertaining because it’s like the… Read more »

It’s sad they probably didn’t have something better and had to go with this. What’s the point in staging a National Final when there isn’t a single good song? The closest to it are “Circles” and “Dreams” but nothing is preventing them from coming dead last in the SFs. At least, they don’t sound like recorded through a potato which is a step i the right direction. Everything sounds so generic and basic. The lyrics are uninspired. I would’ve expected at least one song in Macedonian but this is just bad. 1.     Andrea – “Circles” (6.25) 2.     Yon Idy – “Dreams” (6.25)… Read more »

Why not do just these lyric videos without the artist dancing on the background? So awful, these lack everything. Even if I’d try to rate these, the best one would be 3/10.

Cirles. What a song. What a voice of Andrea. Absolutely for top 10.

My qualification senses only tingle when listening to Flower of Sorrow, but even Flower Of Sorrow isn’t that great. If it ends up winning the Macedonian national selection and ends up reaching the final of ESC, it can maximally get 20th.

Flower of Sorrow fantastic ballad with a rewamp for top 10. Macedonia is such underrated country in ESC and JESC. Shame..

In jesc absolutely, in ESC debatable. Most of the songs north Macedonia have had in Eurovision were either not great or decent songs staged badly.

This is like the music platform COLORS with no international flair…or unique songs and sounds.
Six entries and not a single one in a National language?!
For those cringing at the the lyrical value of Superman—help me understand the problem with this entry vs the merit of Subwoofer which is being deemed “winner alert”. Lyrically they sound the same. Musically they sound the same. The only difference might be production value which is why N Macedonia is giving €2000 to finish the final product. Any Scandinavian producer would be happy to take half of that and punch this song up.

“Superman” sounds a lot like 2NE1’s “I Am The Best”. I can see myself singing “Nae-ga je-il jal na-ga” in its drop all the time.

I’m ready for your stones babes, but the only song that has a change of qualifying (a slim one though) is Superman. It’s cringey, trashy but also iconic and the most important; not boring.

Still a very very bad national final, but I didn’t expect anything better.

Not the strongest batch of songs from North Macedonia, but I am thankful that they narrowed it down to just six as opposed to giving us over two dozens like some other countries. “Dreams” is probably the one I enjoy the most, but the moment I stop listening to it, I forget how it went. This will need really good staging if it gets picked for Eurovision, which N. Macedonia isn’t particularly known for tbh. The song will get forgotten if it’s just him playing the guitar. “Circles” is probably the most contemporary of the bunch, but it’s also quite… Read more »

Circles – I really like this one, no doubt this is going into my playlist 5/5 Love and Light – there are certain music progressions that make me insta love a song, this one has them, although it gets repetetive near the end and would benefit from more bombastic finish to make a bigger impact 4,5/5 Flower of Sorrow – a very ok balad, it would benefit from more ethnic vibes, I like it, but it doesn’t hold my attention and doesn’t linger in my mind that much 3,5/5 Flying to Berlin – the music alone and vibes the music… Read more »

I picked Andrea on the poll because I really like her voice. Yon Idy and Kaly were also good. I have to admit that overall there’s nothing special.
These songs will probably be better live. Those minimalistic lyric videos with bright backgrounds really doesn’t do justice to any of them but especially the sad songs. I had to put my phone away while listening so the video wouldn’t ruin the song

Tbh it’s not a strong national selection, but it’s also not bad Flower of sorrow is really good and if it wins, they might do somewhat well at eurovision. The song needs a small revamp though Circles is quite nice but it also needs a revamp Dreams is easily my favorite, I find it very relaxing and cute. Not sure how well it would do at esc though Love and light is fine but it’s nothing special Superman and Flying to Berlin are equally bad in my opinion (if superman somehow wins, North Macedonia will finish dead last at eurovision… Read more »

This is gonna sound harsh but they are all discardable. I don’t wanna be so negative but this just isn’t good music. The songs are all as flavorless as the green-screen videos. NM are not back where they started, they have never been worse off. Why? Because the songs they selected internally before Tamara were good pop screwed up abysmal staging. Now, they threw in the towel already with abysmal music. It’s like they selected Vasil twice to announce their new normal: we’re done trying. One jury hit is enough.

Circles is the least bad imo but still not good. I’ll truly miss NM. Proud, Lost and found, Dance alone were among the best songs in their years. It’s truly bizarre they stopped being good right after it starting paying off. Makes no sense.

It s really a pity that the wiwi fans have turned so caustic and acidic in their comments towards artists presenting their songs. Here we have six really amazing vocalists with different genres of songs. I have some I like others I like less but I don’t understand why these comments of hatred. Is it not supposed that Eurovision unites everyone with different kind of songs? But if the song is not depressive or up to 2022 fan standard according to some, poor artist! I m really not happy with how it s turning out.

people in here acting surprised the selection of macedonia (of all countries) is poor as if they weren’t the same country that sent the ultimate abomination last year… my standards were set to zero and i got what i expected. but flower of sorrow sounds cute so they should go for it.

circles – good idea, repetitive lyrics, lost me at the end. love and light – i fear that this might come off as screaming irl, not the best production. flowers of sorrow – best production so far, however feels like a song Christina Aguleira turned down. flying to berlin – what is this year with rock songs whichs singers lack any kind of charisma . dreams – if i take my taste out of the equation, this is nice. i just dont like gitar-lead songs. supermarn – super basic lyrics, edm at least a decade late, but finally, a song with… Read more »

Thing is, I don’t particularly enjoy any of these, flower of sorrow gets close but not really. Superman is horrible but I still think it’s the best choice. They won’t reach the final with any of these, I’d rather be remembered and get 17th than get 13th and immediately forgotten

I think yon idy has the only song with some potential.
With a good staging and some revamp it might have some chance in the competition. Especially because I don’t think many countries will go with that kind of song.

I’m shocked by the votes so far.
I was truly 100% sure “Dreams” would be the only suitable standout for everyone !
I Guess i was wrong haha.
Ivy has the only song i listened to thé end ans i truly appreciated it. Such a mood, à la Kedvesem but a bit more mainstream.
I think all the other are weaker, both in the production or the lyrics.
If it’s not Dreams, then yes flower of sorrow or circles could do the job but…meh.

Disappointed to see 6 songs in english even After Ukraine, Portugal and Italia wins..

To me this is without a doubt the WORST selection of songs in any national final this year!

No matter which one they pick that song is going to need a major rewamp of some kind, or else most likely fail in the semi-final. (But without a dougt to me “Superman” is the worst sounding of all “pre-eurovision” songs this year, as it was geniunly a pain trying to listen and watch that video.)

Guess you still haven’t checked Romania’s and Malta’s songs out. Yes, it’s definitely not good but the 3 women ‘s songs are enjoyable enough not to be classified as bad. That’s 50% of the songs. Those two previously mentioned countries don’t come anywhere near that.

This is a very nice selection from North Macedonia, all 6 songs have their charm. For me, there are two stand-outs:

Superman – this has the potential to be iconic, what a tune!
Circles – the only one that gave me goosebumps – it feels very personal and authentic

Well done North Macedonia!!!
