They’re among the most talked about acts of Eurovision 2024 and have shown that Ireland can do dramatic, dark and in-your-face with the best of ’em. And now Bambie Thug is casting a spell yet again — this time with the “Doomsday Blue” music video.
Working with Dublin-based CAMP — a production company “run by a collective of misfits changing the industry” — Bambie has given the song a comedic spin in this visually arresting music video that feels more like a short film.
Bambie Thug shares “Doomsday Blue” music video
Here’s how the non-binary artist described the production.
“Filming the music video for Doomsday Blue was mad! I’m so proud to have worked with an amazing team filled with so many queer and non-binary people. Camp are a dream to work with, and while the turnaround was ridiculously fast, there was a lot of heart and passion poured into it and I’m super grateful.”
“Originally the story for the video was very dark, but since winning the Late Late Show Eurosong, there have been so many people reaching out about how their children love the song, so I wanted to make sure the video was something enjoyable and accessible for people of all ages. My sister and I eventually came up with this idea of making it a little more cutesy, spooky and comedic. There’s a lot of odes to pop culture moments in there from Mean Girls and Barbie to The Creation of Adam (Michelangelo)…obviously all made a bit goth. I’m excited to share it with everyone and have it out in the world… now I can focus on bringing it to life on stage in Malmö.”
The Irish broadcaster RTÉ says:
“The video depicts Bambie Thug making a “Note to Self” to place a hex on their ex-boyfriend and conjure up a “better new boyfriend” who they dream they can enjoy a game of badminton and have a tea party with… but the reality turns nightmarish when Bambie finds themselves being chased through a forest by a 7 foot tall hairy monster. So grab yourself a cup of Melancholic Tonic and a slice of blue frosted cake and join the Doomsday Blue party!”
Ireland compete in Semi-Final 1 of Eurovision 2024 on Tuesday, May 7.

To be honest, I was hoping that this year Ireland would go crazy and enter something Celtic. They went another way. Maybe next year.
When rehearsals start media will flock to this – and that’s when the real interest starts – same with cha cha cha – it was rehearsals that created the frenzy no one here gave it a second thought .., that’s why wiwiblogg opinions matter little

So it’s a day later (post Bambie release) and I’ve got my two favourites. Doomsday Blue and Europapa… And you know why? Both are completely different music styles, and I jive with both; but; both also have the most immersive ‘can’t look away’ performances that continue to flip pace, intensity, and mood throughout their 3(ish) minutes. Thank you so much for this wonderful, uplifting post. I love the Eurovision entries this year for similar reasons: So many different musical styles, creativity and diversity. Sweden is indeed tonight, and so is Portugal, and I’m looking forward to them both. 🙂

When they announced that Scarlet would take part in MF and everyone thought their entry would be the most extreme and hardest thing ever seen on a MF stage…they were thinking about Bambie Thug! Instead Scarlet ended up being the most rated G entry of all kinda compared to this rated R entry from Ireland this year!LOL!

This Is New Low For Ireland , Its A Worst Then A Troll / Joke Entry . It Is Satanic , And Irish Should Be Truely Ashamed For Their Selfs For Alowing This Monstricity To Preticipate On The Eurowision .
If Its Not Last Place I Will Be Shokced Because This Its Not Musik , Its A Devil Worship Song And This Girl Is Very Evil , And Not SomeOne To Look Up To
Bejba still does not like Doomsday Blue and has a lot of the same things they’ve had to say anytime an article featuring ireland is published. More breaking news coming soon.
She’s clearly out of her mind lol. Why should they send the 2nd place over the winner? It’s crazy how political the contest became that a Palestinian must appear on Eurovision stage just because of what? Bashar didn’t win. Period.
It’s very sad, especially how she moves against her own singer who agreed to sing her dire song and elevated it so much that it actually won. She should be thankful, without Hera she’d never get a song into Eurovision if that’s the best she can write. But winning the virtue signaling contest is more important to her, obviously.
So she should suck up the fact the song she wrote for won off the backs of people hating the other act instead of loving her act? Why are we blowing this out of proportion when she is showing the bare minimum backbone and morals in saying “Hey, I don’t like that this song was massively voted for because people hated the other song/artist”
The gall of saying this all in a post about Ireland when it’s one of the primary countries in all of Europe who are Pro-Palestinian, they’ve tasted the treatment they’re currently receiving thanks to their history with England and coming here to do more of your petty fearmongering about “the evil pro-palestinians” is so gross.
If Iceland makes good on its promise to withdraw from eurovision 2024 over Israel, what would happen next? will there be a chain reaction from other countries to demand Israel’s removal or will Iceland stand alone?
It will stand alone, most people in Europe don’t support terrorists.

This one has slowly been creeping in to my subconscious and clawed it’s way up my ranking! Currently it’s in my Top 10 and it looks like it’ll be staying there for now. The song is in its own lane. Bambie Thug are also in their own lane. The staging that they can bring based off the song, and now the music video points at something that flits between a nightmare and a dream. On Wikipedia, Hera Björk was deleted as entry and it says Iceland decides their entry on March 11th. Congratulations on being as ridiculous as possible, RUV.

Is it posssible that all 7 entries in the first half of semi 1 could qualify? Unlikely. I’d leave Cyprus in the semi. I do think Ireland should qualify with this.
At the same time a completely stable you are being offensive and suggesting one’s mental issues because you’ve heard a song/seen a music video. That’s healthy AF, aye?
And who are you exactly??…. The Moral God??… Who cares about self entitled brats – like you! Take care of your OWN (!) business – don’t preach others about their rights – sit humbled in your own corner (aka: SHUSH!)
Gosh…. you didn’t exhaust YET (!) – your list of “teenage” nonsense??…. (my condolences btw). When you are done – go and help Mom wash some of her dishes…. (sure you would be overall more productive and useful)
Bla… bla… bla… – I know it’s hard (for you) to hear the thruth… Try to find an appropriate support group

No sitting on the fence with this one! Pure Marmite as comments below indicate. You’re more likely to qualify by enthusing half the audience and alienating the rest, than by being “middle of the road/pleasing” and failing to get people to pick up the phone and vote. Qualification chances? 40/60%.

‘Falling…. In love again… What am I to Hoodooo…’
I absolutely love this (and all) Bambie videos. Their ability to storytell visually and musically, in a non-generic way, amazes me. The production quality is amazing, the visuals and slice-ups; and then, that little calmer post-song… They got their man… 7ft of hairy Irish country dude complete with talons.
Let the haters hate… And let Bambie Thug and their new manbeast be their creative selves… But… ‘If you go down to the woods today… You’re in for a big surprise…’
One of my favorites this year and now they got a brilliant video. Pure Art and Creativity as it is.And they gave me my personal highlight of the season when they won over that terrible boyband at NF.
Fingers crossed for Bambie to qualify even if the 1st semi is a bloodbath but I believe in the Witches and other magical creatures. Go Bambie!
OFC Bambie qualifies. Did you see that huge magic book of spells on their lapp in the vid!!??
Such an amazing act!!
Glad EIRE made a right decision going out of the box.
Even friends of mine who are much in the music scene like the act and their previous material. Its just very good.

It’s a vibe, it’s fun, it’s cute and creepy at the same time. It’s not trying to be, it is totally unique, and it will stand out for sure, there’s nothing like that in the contest. The song itself is not my thing but the overall package performing on the big stage will be something seeing Bambie’s creativity and it makes me curious.
And curious to see if an out of the box entry will work for Ireland and I hope. I wish the best to Bambie and good luck Ireland!
And I wish they change their staging approach, though I am aware this is an extremely difficult song to stage. The dark, goth vibes of the video clip should be translated on stage.
Hmm, I’m not as impressed as I expected. I was hoping for something a little more creepy, high fashion & abstract. Similar to Sevdaliza or Viktoria Modesta’s ”Prototype”, but with a pagan Celtic twist.
The visuals here are just bog-standard cutesy Tumblr witchcraft aesthetic. I much prefer the visuals Bambie did for her Egregore and Tsunami music videos. I hope they do justice for this song with the staging in Malmo, if the aesthetic is similar to this music video I can see the song getting overlooked.
Yeah… I think it’s quite respectful to the EBU and ‘family’ audience, and expect the live show to work from the video aesthetic more than the Eurosong. You can see the thought that it was given.
That’s a fair point. Eurovision is supposed to be age-appropriate for everyone after all.
I’m still hoping for a sprinkle of spice and avant-garde in the staging. If Bambie brings those cutesy witch dresses and demon/bear boyfriend from the music video on stage in Malmo, people will count it out as a joke entry, when it’s not at all.
I’m never gonna be fond of this one… It just makes me cringe no matter when I listen to it or how I feel

What a fantastic video. I’m so glad it removes the image of the studio performance by RTE on the Late Late Show which looked like the song was being performed in a school concert hall. Good Luck Ireland

Kind reminder that Bambie Thug’s pronouns are They/Them and Fae/Faer. It’s totally fine if you didn’t know this.
The backing dancers with the long nails should also be on the stage imo. Not 2 but 4. Thats worked perfectly on the Late Late show in the small setting of the broadcasterstudio.
I hate on stage ‘furniture’ per se, but if those ‘groove-monsters’ were melded/camouflaged into a tree and ‘slurped’ out as the story progressed on stage it might help.
The led floor and walls can alter between hex-haus, dream-forest, and day-mare.
Perhaps the groove-monsters create the manbeast along with Bambie; and then they all go wild…. Frankenstein meets Teddy Bears picnic meets beauty and the beast?
The book of spells is a ode to Mean Girls ‘burn book’s I believe.

I appreciate every artist and their work, but this song is horrific and one of a kind. If Ireland wanted to send something different or authentic, they could conveniently ask for advice from Greece, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
I can’t believe, Ireland, a 7-trophy ESC country, with such a music industry, sends this.
If you want to do something different you don’t seek advice, you do you own thing. Most of the Eurovision cognoscenti are applauding Ireland for taking a risk and not copying other countries.
Doomsday Blue is definitely not the type of song I’d listen to usually but tbh I kinda like it and find it waaaaay better than Greece and Netherlands. The Netherlands currently are the last place of my top… All of this is a matter of taste.
I don’t think it’s a matter of taste. You can judge a song on its merits even if it’s not your taste. The Dutch song is a tribute to the happy hardcore genre, among other things, and as such it’s very well done. Just like this Irish song is great, just not a regular mainstream pop song.
@Sherlock: did you check out other material online of Bambie??
I loved it.
They are such creative artists and with they I mean Bambie and all the creative artists in their group.
Good seeing other artists are getting involved in the contest with diff takes on how things are being done.
Its good creativity is showing in a diff way .
We might call that the Hatari or Kääriä-effect.
Some call these acts Bonkers, Joke or Clown acts.
For me the quality ones are refreshing the ESC field.
But its all in the eye of the beholder.
Avada Kedavra
Oh lord yeah… Before Eurosong. My least favourite ‘track’ was Doomsday Blue… Love Bites, Tsunami, Headbanger, Merry Christmas Baby, Necromancy… All amazing.
This new video and the little blow-up, is making me love ‘song’ more… But the ‘artist’ is my winner… They deserve recognition.
Its the window of precious artists finding their way on the ESC platform.
Bambie Thug and Joost are after Hatari the best material I found on this plarform the last decade!
This is one of the few songs at Eurovision which is actually good in its genre. You have to be a little familiar with the genre of course, or a little open-minded. The song is very well done and deserves a place in the final… no matter your taste.
Industrial Gothic-style, never been done at this level at ESC.
Hatari 2019 were Industrial-Teckno, who were also very avant garde and new showing this at Eurovision.
They got on the 10th spot in the Finals.
Think Bambie Thug could match that.

Bambie Thug are also in their own lane. The staging that they can bring based off the song, and now the music video points at something that flits between a nightmare and a dream. Although im personally not a fan of the occult, I’m not against this song itsself which is a journey through various walls of sound. I’m not… Read more »
It’s nothing to do with the occult
They are already legendary. Bambie Thug should be proud of that creation. Fantastic, unique entry, it will be shocking on the Eurovision stage. The song is STILL in my top 6 places after almost two months.
One of best entries this year. Hope, they will deliver in Malmö. My call from Austria.
Do I Like the song? -No Do I think it will qualify? – No Can I vote against it – Not really as my 20 votes cannot damage one country’s chances for qualification Will I go Crazy If Ireland qualifies? – Not at all Will I bash the artist just because I dislike their song? – Never ever People have to stop being harsh and stop posting disgusting comments about artists and countries whose songs they don’t Like. A lot of people will Hate on this song, and so Many other songs will love it and vote for it. That’s… Read more »
wow you clearly not well versed in modern music lol
Good advice, Amigo!
Chappeau
This is still my number 1 and think it’ll stay that way now as there’s something captivating about this for me I love it
Wow, I got shivers!
Loving the confidence, the drama, the artistry.
Ireland did good!
Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s good. I don’t see this qualifying at all
If you think Spain is good it isn’t it’s the same old Eurovision rubbish Spain sends in but no one cares to say it
Zorra and Doomsday Blue are BOTH great. It’s not a contest.
(Oh wait… it is)
Oh they’re both just happy to be nominateddddddd 🙂
On Wikipedia, Hera Björk was deleted as entry and it says Iceland decides their entry on March 11th. Congratulations on being as ridiculous as possible, RUV.
Never trust Wikipedia as your only source of information. Even I can edit the articles. We shall be hopeful.
I didn’t. Eurovision.tv has “TBA” has the Icelandic participant.
Sad, but at least we’ve known all along the winner would not necessarily represent Iceland… although this is not the angle I was expecting.
Damn, I didn’t expect RUV to be this ridiculous
Never trust Wikipedia for anything that could possibly be disputed or ‘spun’. Save it for questions like – “What is the capital of Moldova and just where is Moldova anyway?”
Is it posssible that all 7 entries in the first half of semi 1 could qualify? Unlikely. I’d leave Cyprus in the semi. I do think Ireland should qualify with this.
From the 1st half of 1st semi I’d even leave Poland and Serbia in the semi. We’ll see…
I know it hugely unpopular and will never happen, but I would even leave Ukraine in the semi.
Me too, the “all the divas were born as a human beings” line and the cringy rap verse put me off, but people seem not to have a problem with that
Strangely, nobody has a problem with this song honoring Mother Teresa, either even though she was a horrible human being.
We don’t really need Poland in the final.
Poor “girl” with derranged mind (reflected in this tune) – medication is needed…
At the same time a completely stable you are being offensive and suggesting one’s mental issues because you’ve heard a song/seen a music video. That’s healthy AF, aye?
Who knew you could get a diagnosis so inexpensively!!! Great huh?
Wouldn’t it be nice if the haters would add links to their contributions to art along with their nonsense.
Enjoy your day.
Not every tourette screams and hysteria can be called ART….
oh does lady gaga? sia? Florence and the machine have deranged minds ?
Shame on you go back to your communist state
FREE speach darling… Are you (by your lame comment) trying to CANCEL others??… pathetic!
If you cant respect anothers way of Free Speech, you arent entitled to yours.
Point Fertig!!
We NEVER should cancel eachtother out despite our differences.
And who are you exactly??…. The Moral God??… Who cares about self entitled brats – like you! Take care of your OWN (!) business – don’t preach others about their rights – sit humbled in your own corner (aka: SHUSH!)
Nooo pumkin.
Im the evil Witch inside your brain of worms.
We shewed on every worm and spitted it out!!
Avada Kedavra,
Gosh…. you didn’t exhaust YET (!) – your list of “teenage” nonsense??…. (my condolences btw). When you are done – go and help Mom wash some of her dishes…. (sure you would be overall more productive and useful)
Reading all your comments under there, I’m pretty sure Bambie Thug is mor mentally stable than you are. You seem to have a lot of hate inside you…
Bla… bla… bla… – I know it’s hard (for you) to hear the thruth… Try to find an appropriate support group
No sitting on the fence with this one! Pure Marmite as comments below indicate. You’re more likely to qualify by enthusing half the audience and alienating the rest, than by being “middle of the road/pleasing” and failing to get people to pick up the phone and vote. Qualification chances? 40/60%.
It is absolutely hideous.
Thanks Bambie… Love your craft x
Marlene Dietrich would love Bambie.
Well someone got it!!! Haha.
Why the hell am I starting to like this song? 🙂
And I wish they change their staging approach, though I am aware this is an extremely difficult song to stage. The dark, goth vibes of the video clip should be translated on stage.
Ahhh… Because the Hex is working. Glad you’re coming around. Manbeast won’t have to come and visit you in your dreams 🙂
@Sherlock, The Hex spells Bambie are using are really effective.
As you might have seen in the comment section in the room.
I threw some around in the box and well………………………….
Avada Kedavra
Welcome back Ireland.
Haha
Hmm, I’m not as impressed as I expected. I was hoping for something a little more creepy, high fashion & abstract. Similar to Sevdaliza or Viktoria Modesta’s ”Prototype”, but with a pagan Celtic twist.
The visuals here are just bog-standard cutesy Tumblr witchcraft aesthetic. I much prefer the visuals Bambie did for her Egregore and Tsunami music videos. I hope they do justice for this song with the staging in Malmo, if the aesthetic is similar to this music video I can see the song getting overlooked.
I think for the Bambie crew this is making the song some more accesable for the mainstream ESC audience.
I do agree the Egregore and Tsunami music videos are very aestetic and avant garde. Tho maybe too disturbing for some?
Yeah… I think it’s quite respectful to the EBU and ‘family’ audience, and expect the live show to work from the video aesthetic more than the Eurosong. You can see the thought that it was given.
That’s a fair point. Eurovision is supposed to be age-appropriate for everyone after all.
I’m still hoping for a sprinkle of spice and avant-garde in the staging. If Bambie brings those cutesy witch dresses and demon/bear boyfriend from the music video on stage in Malmo, people will count it out as a joke entry, when it’s not at all.
Im confident that the artistic approch of Bambie and team of their stageshow in Malmö will be excellent.
Its hit or miss on this imo.
This entry is so bad. Can’t get the hype with it
If it was from Israel you’d love it though….
There is no hype… just a few yappy irish fans…
I’m never gonna be fond of this one… It just makes me cringe no matter when I listen to it or how I feel
Wasn’t a fan when it won the NF, but after hearing Greece yesterday, this is pure poetry in comparison!
It’s giving satanic and demonic vibes, not into it sry.. currently among my last places. Props to Ireland though for sending something out-of-the box for once, maybe it will pay off.
Avada kedavra
Avada Kedavra
What a fantastic video. I’m so glad it removes the image of the studio performance by RTE on the Late Late Show which looked like the song was being performed in a school concert hall. Good Luck Ireland
Kind reminder that Bambie Thug’s pronouns are They/Them and Fae/Faer. It’s totally fine if you didn’t know this.
Here we go….
Oh. I’ve heard of They/Them, but the other ones are new to me. Is there any Bambie-specific origin to Fae/Faer?
i was thinking the same.
Fae/Faer is that from Fairy??
Beautiful clip. On stage the white hair would work better. But the song is difficult.
That’s true… It would pick up any stage-light colour and make her more visible in that enormous stage.
Or just sing… You know… Whatev’s 🙂
Well well, interesting visions.
Did you see that big books of Spells on the lapp of Bambie in the vid?
Avada Kedavra
They dont need to fly in SJB………………….
The book of spells is a ode to Mean Girls ‘burn book’s I believe.
Wonderfull!!
Such a well crafted video created by the irish delegation.
For me this is art.
People will either love or hate it.
Hope there will be enough support for them making it into the Finals.
Good luck, Eire!
The Netherlands 2024? Surely not!
You truly don’t respect artists and their work with a comment like that.
Joost and Bambie are my top favs untill sofar.
For me they bring a concept of art.
Untill now the most unique entries.
I see the craftmenship of the artists and their creative teams with them.
Its not everybodies cuppa tea.
Thats good.
If there were no different spices put into the mix of baking the ESC cake it would taste like in our daily bread.
I haven’t heard Greece yet, but love Bambie and think Joost’s song has some great connection points for the live and TV audience.
I think theirs a place for all these ‘fever-dreams’. It certainly will break-up the semi’s and final.
*there’s
*glow-up
Its the window of precious artists finding their way on the ESC platform.
Avada Kedavra
Wouldnt agree less.
Industrial Gothic-style, never been done at this level at ESC.
Hatari 2019 were Industrial-Teckno, who were also very avant garde and new showing this at Eurovision.
They got on the 10th spot in the Finals.
Think Bambie Thug could match that.
God this song is so truly terrible people need to clean out their ears
Start with yours then.. deep thorough clean..
