Today RTE, the Irish state broadcaster, announced that it would be reverting back to last year’s mentor system that helped it choose Jedward as the act for Eurovision 2011.
Five finalists will be chosen and mentored by five former contestants, producers and/or musical celebs. Each of the acts will perform in a live show, and the public will vote for its favorite. Linda Martin, one of this year’s mentors, represented Ireland at Eurovision twice. She placed second in 1984, and won the contest in 1992.
As you can see in this video clip from RTE announcing the news, John and Edward seem to think that victory at the national contest is a foregone conclusion. And we’re hoping they’re right!
Wiwi does not yet know who the other four finalists are. Do you? Who would you like to see compete against Jedward in Ireland?
