Eleftheriou is gone. So is her trademark head-shaking. This is Eleftheria 2.0 and she bears more than a striking resemblance to Helena Paparizou. Her hair’s been subtly darkened since Baku, and like Miss Paparizou she’s now all about pouts and sultry stares, instead of giant grins and her spine-shattering head-shaking. The dark beats of ‘Raindrops’ were crying out for some melodramatic spy storyline with Eleftheria stalking around Athens in a catsuit having a gunfight with Deepcentral’s vocalist Doru Todorut. Sadly, the Greek economy being what it is, they’re stuck pacing up and down a beach on Cephalonia – but boy, does Eleftheria work the pebbles.

“I’m feeling so lonely, I’m crazy for you, you are the only one. What can I do?” Eleftheria croons over the well-honed Romanian Eurodance production. Flattering camera angles disguise her height and she plays tease in her flowing maxi-dress. There’s the usual Eurodance video clichés as she ruffles her hair, stands on rocks as a wind machine blows her dress in slow motion and the point where she finally meets up with her love interest and you know they’re in for a summer of love. To his credit Doru Todorut, Deepcentral’s vocalist does his best to assert himself by singing for more of the song, but the minute Eleftheria rocks up you only have eyes for her. Dr. Auto-Tune has performed some serious surgery on the vocals, leaving Eleftheria sounding like a synthetic siren and there isn’t a lot of vocal variation on her part but who cares – this tune is banging! A guaranteed summer smash and hopefully a sign of what to expect from Eleftheria’s upcoming solo single!

It’s still nice, though (and as a side note, Disturbia is pretty intolerable). Would listen to this one again.
