Romanian daily “Libertatea” reports that Ovi Jacobsen, who represented Romania with Paula Seling in 2010, reaching third place with “Playing With Fire”, plans a comeback to the Eurovision stage. But the singer-songwriter is not saying if he is going to enter Romania’s Selectia Nationala or Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix.
Ovi Jacobsen, whose actual name is Ovidiu Cernauteanu, is Romanian and he lived in Norway for 15 years, but returned to Romania in 2011, after the success at Eurovision opened new doors for him in the music industry. These days however he is planning to go back to Oslo, where he will record his new album during the next six months. Among other things, he revealed that he wrote a song with ESC 2014 in mind and that he is going to record it soon.
Contacted by Wiwibloggs.com, Ovi said that his plans are not final and that he cannot give any details as to whether he would like to represent Romania or Norway, but that he will let us know before long.
Ovi’s involvement in Eurovision is not limited to 2010. He had entered several songs in Melodi Grand Prix in the late 2000s and, in 2011, he reached the semi-finals with “I’ll Be Yours”, performed by Pernille & Marius. The song, however, failed to make it to the MGP Final, which, as we know, was won my Stella Mwangi’s “Haba Haba”. In 2012 his song “High On Love”, performed by Reidun Sæther, reached the Final, only to be beaten in the end by Tooji’s “Stay”.
Ovi also hosted, together with Paula Seling, singer Andreea Banica and comedian Marius Rizea, this year’s Selectia Nationala on TVR, under the concept “Romanian ABBA”.
So what do you think about his chances to put “Ovi” back in Eurovision? And would you like to see his song compete in the Romanian or Norwegian selection?

Yes, yes! I loved Ovi’s songs “Seven Seconds” from MGP 2009 and “Playing with Fire”! Hopefully he’ll be preforming. That would be fantastic.
Me da igual al pais que represente, siempre y cuando siga en la misma linea,su acto junto a paula en el 2010 muy refrescante me gusto.
I remember that in 2010, when he represented Romania, all the scandinavian countries gave Romania high points. Maybe it was just a coincidence (“Playing with fire” was a great tune), but I don’t think so. I mean, Ovi has some connection with the scandinavian music industry. So..with that in mind, he could bring Romania back in top 10. Anyway..I don’t believe he would win in Norway and I think that Romania needs something bigger next year, even though he has a lot of potential. 🙂
