Always the bridesmaid and never the bride. It’s an apt description of 20-year-old aspiring pop star Melanie McCabe, who has auditioned for the X Factor four times but never made it to the live shows. She was supposed to compete in Ireland’s national final for Eurovision in 2013 with the song “Kiss Me”, but withdrew due to focus on her studies.

Despite all her studying, she still managed to find time to audition for this year’s X Factor. During the Bootcamp Stage she reduced all four judges to tears, making it into Nicole’s Top 6 in the girls category. But, after a heart-breaking performance, she failed to make to the live shows, despite being one of the bookies’ top three favourites to win the whole thing.

So, do you think she should actually take part in Ireland’s NF next year? Will X Factor’s loss be Eurovision’s Gain? Could Melanie win the whole thing?

Studies? Sure sure. Typical girl is desperate to be a singer but only if it means overnight X Factor success and not having to actually work at it. She probably turned her nose up at Eurovision.

She should try only if she has a great song .. Otherwise don’t bother …

I was devastated when she didn’t get through to live shows, I believe Abi took her place.
And she should definately try for Ireland in 2014, she’s amazing.
