Portugal’s Eurovision singer Suzy is a ray of sunshine. Born Susana Guerra, this diva is the total package with the voice, the looks, and the personality to make our readers smile (and to make some of them sweat). It’s no wonder she won the Portuguese televote with 42% of the vote. Her marketing campaign helped too.

“We put the music on the local radio throughout the country and we had a lot of radio supporting us,” she told wiwiblogger Deban Aderemi at the London Eurovision Party. “I also did TV performances. And my home city has a lot of population. I was the Queen of Carnival of that city on the weekend!”

This ambitious lady knows that Eurovision doesn’t make a career long-lasting. That takes drive and self-belief.

“What about after? A lot of [contestants] just go back and back to Eurovision and they don’t continue their dream. You have to be proactive. You don’t expect a contest to make you succeed. You have to succeed for yourself. If you believe in yourself and believe that you have capabilities and record an album, then why not?”

Despite her many accomplishments—including Portugal’s best-selling Christmas single of all time—she was still shocked when songwriter Emmanuel approached her with Quero ser tua. “I was numb…I’ve been away for a long time. I lived in Canada, in the States, in Dubai. I was away from all of it.”

But baby, you are back! YASSSSS! We love Suzy so much. Will you be voting for her in the first semi-final on May 6?

Dear friends. The comments about both Dilara and Suzy are just stupid… one more beautiful than the other, One a monster the other don’t. Just bad taste. We shoul talk about music. But I suposed that When Javid talk about a poor country, he refers to Portugal. That’s my country man, and, when Azerbeijan didn’t even exist, Portugal was the biggest country in the wirld, my darling. plus, any social or economic indicator puts Portugal largely better than Azerbeijan. The Land of fire, yes, but an arab ditatorship where dogs had been killed so that you can received the eurovision…… Read more »
