We’ve been waiting for information about the Eurovision 2015 host city and venue like a cat waiting for a mouse. So yesterday, when ORF revealed more information about its decision, we pounced on the news. ORF now promises that it will reveal its final decision by early August, meaning we should know within two or three weeks.

Officially there are three venues in the race, with various backup venues also being mentioned. Those three venues are the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, the OlympiaWorld in Innsbruck and the Stadthalle in Graz. Innsbruck seems like the current favourite due to their strong bid, deep pockets and its sheer determination to host. But Vienna recently pulled a wildcard when its mayor suggested building a brand new 15,000-seat facility. Talk about upping the ante…

Eurovision 2015 dates: May 19, 21, 23?

ORF will also reveal the official dates of Eurovision 2015 at the same time, so all y’all can start booking your plane tickets and hotels. The only thing we know so far is that Eurovision will take place in May.

But speaking to Vorarlberger Nachrichten for a July 23 article, ORF’s general director Alexander Wrabetz appears to have inadvertenly revealed that the grand final for Eurovision 2015 will take place on May 23.

“The halls in Innsbruck, Graz and Vienna meet our requirements,” he said. “Therefore, we were able to define 23 May next year as a fixed date already.”

So what do you think. Will Innsbruck, Graz or Vienna play host to Eurovision 2015? And where do you want to go?

I’ll be really annoyed if it isn’t Vienna just like how I was annoyed in 2013 when they chose Malmö instead of Stockholm (where I live).

I’m probably in the minority when I say I want Innsbruck to host… Plus I don’t think Austria’s track record should be judged regarding when they win next. Take Denmark for example who won in 1963 and they next won 37 years later in 2000 then only had to wait 13 years in 2013.

vienna should be the host city. more convenient for fans. plus austria will not host the event for another 50 years so yeah grab that opportunity!

Vienna’s public debt is immense. Sure, it probably compares pretty well to other large European cities, but it’s one of the worst in Austria – whereas Innsbruck has one the lowest debts per capita.

Add to that the fact that a city like Vienna won’t have much to gain from Eurovision (the tourism industry is already so big there isn’t that much room to grow) and you will see why they might choose Innsbruck.

Wherever it is, please make it somewhere that has good transportation to it. Getting to/from the shipyard in Copenhagen was a giant PITA.

VIENNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot stress enough how much I want Vienna to host Eurovision 2015!
I’m sure Vienna has even deeper pockets than Innsbruck considering its status at Austria’s capital and largest city.
After being there last week and seeing its scale and wealth I am 100% sure Vienna could host an awesome Eurovision.
