The results are in. Following an evening evening full of Turkish musical flavour we now know the 12 finalists of Türkvizyon 2014.

Tatarstan were the first round winners. Of the newcomers, Germany, Bulgaria and Albania all failed to qualify. But Moscow, Turkmenistan and Iran were luckier. The biggest surprise was the elimination of Azerbaijan, the reigning champions.

I liked the Ukraine song but it was eliminated. Türkmenistan song is original and there are other goods onesas well. I was disappointed with the Turkey song.

The quality of music this year is up 1000% percent from last year. There’s a nice variety in the field this year. I really enjoyed a lot of the songs. But I was surprised Turkey got so high–she sounded a bit out of tune. I loved Albania’s entry, it was almost Eurovision quality, and I really like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. I’m surprised that with all the quality entries this year, Azerbaijan sent such a dud.

How cool would it not be if the winner of Turkvision actually represented Turkey in Eurovision? Why not? I would love it!
