Malta may have only just hosted Junior Eurovision 2014, but a group of fans of young singer Veronica Rotin have already started  a campaign on Facebook, ‘Veronica Rotin to represent Malta in JESC 2015‘, calling on TVM to internally select her for the next contest.

There’s good reason for them to want her too. Veronica, who would be eleven when the contest airs, has got some serious pedigree y’all. When she was eight years old, she started studying at the La Voix Academy under vocal coach, Gillian Attard – who also happens to coach JESC 2013 winner Gaia Cauchi and Federica Falzon.10534302_315855525256534_5656585602544344735_n

Veronica is also a regular on Maltese TV on various different shows and charity marathons, but she’s also had a lot of international exposure too. Veronica has already made it to the finals of the Italian TV talent show Io Canto (I Sing) in 2013, as well as the finals of Romania’s talent show Next Star. She also won the World Festival Association’s (WFA) International Contest for Young Talents in Macedonia in 2014, ultimately winning both her category and the entire Grand Prix prize. She’s already booked to perform at the 2015 WFA contest in Russia and she’ll be representing Malta at the Star Dest festival in the Czech Republic. Girl is BUSY.

Veronica has also released her first CD in 2014 – even that has a Maltese Eurovision touch to it, as it was recorded by Elton Zarb. He’s the composer behind both Gaia and Federica’s JESC entries, as well as Amber’s “Warrior”.

Veronica was also part of the Junior Eurovision 2014 interval act, alongside other representatives from the La Voix Academy:

So, do you agree with the Facebook fans and think that Veronica Rotin would be a good choice for Malta? Let us know in the comments below!

Ramon, while it would be nice for Malta to hold a National Selection, PBS have given no indication that they intend to change their method of selection from the one that has given them the 2 best ever results at JESC and their only ever win at any Eurovision event. When PBS selected from a National Final they did send some excellent songs and performers to JESC but they never placed as high as they deserved. Since PBS have been selecting La Voix singers internally they had a better result in both years than in any of the years when… Read more »

Oragnize a national selection and let the best song win, there are loads of talented kids on the island and they all deserve THE CHANCE to represent our country. This monopoly has to stop… it’s always the same tutor and the same song writing team. I am sure there are other songwriters who want to write for the Junior Eurovision and more tutors who have a number of talented kids who would do Malta proud! We live in a DEMOCRATIC country! I am a MALTESE FAN and I want a NATIONAL SELECTION, not yet another internal choice. This article is… Read more »

I’ve been a fan of Veronica’s since I first saw one of her videos, and if Malta are serious about wanting to win JESC again then they have to send her.
