Tonight at Andra Chansen eight acts sought to make the most of their Second Chance and continue in Melodifestivalen 2015. But only four survived a night filled with wind machines and confetti to advance to the grand final in Friends Arena next week. Here’s how things went down…
DUEL 1: LINUS SVENNING VS. ANDREAS WEISE
Winner: Linus Svenning with “Forever Starts Today”
Fire and tattoos triumphed over schmaltz and pyrotechnics. Yes, Linus Svenning has advanced to the final from Andra Chansen for the second year in a row. He seemed more subdued tonight but that actually helped him stand out against the exuberant Andreas, who seemed to be relishing his moment in the spotlight. He’s a relative newcomer to primetime, but he held his own. We’re hoping to see him again next year (but maybe with less cheese).
DUEL 2: HASSE ANDERSSON VS. KRISTIN AMPARO
Winner: Hasse Andersson with “Guld och gröna skogar”
Swedes didn’t just go retro, they went 1890s barnyard. Hasse defied the bookies and slayed with his dansband sound. He’s been growing in our estimation since last week and tonight he proved he can throw down with the youngins.
My heart is bleeding for Kristin. She cast aside the Adele karaoke cover act and came into her own this evening. Her voice has a lovely smokey quality, and she reached new highs with her falsetto. At the end of her song she giggled, suggesting a heady mix of excitement, giddiness and relief that the pressure is now off. Let’s hope those bedazzled shoulder pads are next…
Look, it’s Loreen SLAYING during the interval!
DUEL 3: DOLLY STYLE VS. DINAH NAH
Winner: Dinah Nah
Dinah Nah just killed three dolls — the teens will never forgive her! But they should understand. Dinah may be twice as old as the Dollies, but she brought youth, vigour and major sass to the stage tonight. Even though she did next to nothing during the dance interludes — was that the running man?! — she had some thrilling gangsta edge.
Dolly Style are totes adorbs, but tonight’s performance felt a little flat. It didn’t help that Dinah Nah appeared to have had a double-shot of something before taking the stage. They’ve earned a huge teen following in recent weeks and we are pretty sure #melfest2015 won’t be their final stop. Watch out for them in a toy store near you!
DUEL 4: BEHRANG MIRI FEAT. VICTOR CRONE VS. SAMIR & VIKTOR
Winner: Samir & Viktor
Behring Miri and Victor Crone had passion in their belly — and Eurovision 2009 contestant Malena Ernman belching out high notes in the background. Dragging out Malena may seem like a desperate measure, but it worked really well. But that could not help them overcome the (fleshy) appeal of Samir & Viktor — one part Paradise Hotel star, one part fashion blogger.
In recent weeks Viktor has looked as if he swallowed a few too many spacecakes, but today he finally pulled it together. He seemed less bewildered by the cameras and even managed to stay in synch with Samir (most of the time anyway).
Andra Chansen review
Listening to Kristin’s song, I have to say… someone write a song for her other than Kreuger and Kempe. Her vocal style doesn’t really fit this song so much. It’s like she wanted to sing in a pleasant, jazzy, calm style, while this chorus is written in a typical Swedish balladeer fashion. She does have a full year to find another song, though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she won the whole thing next time around. With that voice, there’s so much potential.
Samir and Viktor were *way* better than last time. Not the best singers, but they’ve got one of the best songs. And it’s refreshing to finally have a catchy, well-written uptempo Swedish-language song in the Swedish selection, regardless of the inanity of the subject matter. I wish Behrang Miri could have gotten through too, but Sweden’s music charts made it clear that that was never going to happen. (Samir and Viktor are at #3.) I wouldn’t be surprised if S&V won the televote. Happy about Linus, while I’ve yet to check out Andreas’ performance – I think I liked that… Read more »
@Lucas: Alas. I hope she does, too. I think she’s going to need new songwriters. Here’s why: Fredrik Kempe and David Kreuger also wrote Sanna Nielsen’s “Undo”. Both this song and “I See You” start out calm and then build to a thundering climax, before they both end calm. I imagine, in the minds of many, they didn’t want to send the same kind of song two years in a row. Once more, they figured that Kristin will have more years to try and win this thing; but for Hasse, this quite probably was his only shot. So, they cut… Read more »
@Charles, @Mario, @William Adams, @Mika, @Daniel: Alas; I smelled the scent of a cruel joke being played on us all week, given that they were in Hasse’s neck of the woods. Here is how I saw it: Duel 1: Andreas Weise 8.76 Linus Svenning 9.36 [I can’t say whether it helped that Linus started at a lower key. I think he might want to consider going back to the original key.] Duel 2: Hasse Andersson 9.10 Kristin Amparo 9.52 [Hasse might have been a contender at ESC 15 years ago, but is no match for some of TODAY’S songs already… Read more »
Kristin’s song is perfect! for me It deserved to win Melodifestivalen. Don’t know what happenned. Hope she comes back with a stronger song.
Loreen was is sooo amazing
The results of Andra Chansen are certainly a lot better than the results of the semis tbh. So happy Linus and Dinah are through <3
Here’s my say about tonight’s Andra Chansen: Duel 1: Linus surely deserved this place. His was a bit more quiet and not enthusiastic today, but his song still is on my top 12, and Andreas’ song irritates me in a variety of ways. Duel 2: Now this was a big, a big SHOCK. I had thought that the old Swedes might be a danger but after the slaying performance of Kristin, I thought to myself: Well, after almost all of my favorites having been eliminated, at least Kristin will make it. Swedes might love the grandpa, but they do have… Read more »
Kristin was robbed!
Looking forward to a great performance by Mariette tomorrow
Looking forward to having Kristin again hopefully next year. A better approach than to be shocked by her elimination that did not come as a surprise knowing the swedish audiences here as I do. She remains the best in this Andra Chansen watched by drunken old people and some girly teens screaming for the looks and not the voices of that duo of guys.
Anyway … Mans has to win this! Great song!
OMG! Can’t believe how AMAZING Loreen’s performance was! She could’ve won the whole shit with that performance! Can’t wait for the whole album and the video of Paperlights!
I had a feeling Sweden was going to pick Hasse over Kristen. But I’m quite surprised that Dolly Style will not be in the final.
Even so, this is shaping up to be a pretty interesting final.
Mans wrote the song of Behrang and Victor ??? lol
Sweden wouldn’t have even qualified with the dollies, so you guys need to get over that …. The song was JESC material, and also anime Is not new and fresh it is 80’s and JAPAN – Not current and Eurovision friendly ……
in no particular order:
Mariette/Mans/Dinah.
How Kristin is out against an old schlager meh-song, is completely beyond me. 🙁
Loreen’s interval performance was just pure perfection.
I cannot wait for her album to come out.
Dolly Style’s elimination, just a small mistake Sweden made there. The three could still have a chance at the Eurovision this year as the Swedish spokespersons. I’d really like to hear a “Hello Hi Europe! This is Stockholm calling!” during the announcement of votes at the final and I think Dolly Style will be the perfect people to do that because that’s something that they made! Meanwhile, I’m happy that Hasse Andersson got into the finals. Although he’s not a fan favorite or a favorite among the bookies, part of me still hopes that he gets the chance to represent… Read more »
Måns Zelmerlöw or Jon Henrik Fjällgren will win..would be surprised if we have another winner next weekend.
Dinah Nah !!!!!!!
I am pleased, couldn’t care less about the rest 3 duels ……. Since the good songs have been already going directly in the final these were all kinda bad except for Dinah Nah …….. I hope she slays the favorites tomorrow, tho If Mans or Mariette takes this I wouldn’t be mad at all.
I can’t even say how happy i’m now. My favourite Dinah made it to the final.
So did my other favourites:
Linus – Great song, it grows all the time
Hasse – Happy song and experienced singer.
Dinah – She killed it! Song is so powerful, and so was the performance.
Samir & Viktor – Fun song with handsome singers.
The Eurovision medley was probably the best of NF season so far, so many random Israeli songs lol. And Sanna trying to imitate Celine was pretty sad, she obviously couldn’t hit those note properly.
Happy Dinah got through! I’m rooting for her, because we need an uptempo song this year!
frankly, all the great performances made it through.. this was a fair and good result.
Non of them have a chance in the final anyway…
Ok i got right my 3 favorites picks out of the 4…I only lost Kristin when she was even the act that had the most chances to qualify even! Poor Kristin…If there weren’t duels instead and there was just open voting 4 all the 8 songs i truly think that she would had got her ticket 4 the final…Really sad that she won’t be present in the Friends Arena.. Im happy that the japanese lame famagotsi b*tches were eliminated.. We won’t have another version of Yohio at least on this edition of Melodifestivalen and that is good 🙂 Glad that… Read more »
Filippa Bark and Loreen to Eurovision singing a medley of Loreen’s new song and “Don’t Compete In Musik” 😀
Pretty expected results apart from Hasse who I kinda thought could’ve beat Kristin but wasn’t necessarily expecting it. Dinah impressed me the most and Behrang & Victor ruined their song by adding Malena. The synth-sounding background vocals were my favourite part of the song.
I wanted Andreas, Kristin, Dolly and Behrang and all of them got kicked out, literally all my choices got eliminated! C’mon!… If we add that my favourite song from all the 28 was “I’ll be fine” and it got eliminated right away, all it needs to happen now is Eric to win the whole thing next week and this would be the worst Melfest for me ever 😛 hah!
Anyway, since Dolly Style is out, I’ll be rooting for Dinah in the final, alongside Mariette.
So all predictions were right, except for Kristin. It’s not my cup of tea, but I can undesrtand why the swedes would vote for Hasse, his performance improved a lot since las time. Also, did anyone else notice something not quite right with the lights behind Kristin when she was singing? They overshadowed her a lot, that might have hurt her in the end.
I didn’t really like paperlight, too shouty, and did she glue her hair extentions to her boobs? Gross.
I’m glad Dinah is through. I wouldn’t mind if she goes to Vienna at all.
What an amazing resultat! But I prefer Kristin because Hasses song isn’t so good as Kristins song! Hope Sweden will send Dinah Nah but I think Samir and Victor will win because they’re so famous in Sweden :/
Sweden officially has no taste in music. Måns and Linus are the only good acts in the final.
YEEESS HASSE! Wow so glad :’) after seeing almost everyone here saying that he’ll lose tonight
but NOOOO Dolly Style :'( …
Not a fan of Samir and Viktor but it is what it is!
Next week’s final will be exciting to watch.
Glad Dolly Style didn’t qualify, worst potential ESC entry of all time. How people can like such crap is appalling and far beyond any sane person’s understanding…
unfuckingbelievable
@ Yes indeed William 🙁
That did not go with the plan unfortunately..
NOOO DOLLY STYLE WERE FAR BETTER STUPID DINAH NAH
Philipa Bark is lovely…! 🙂
The new Lynda Woondruff of Sweden! <3 😉
She is now a classic cult 4 the Swedes.. 🙂
Really pity that Kristin was beaten by the grandpa when she had so beautiful song and it was obviously much better than his.. I guess that just because he was the absolute outsider from the start not only to manage qualifying to the andra chansen alone he proved the chances wrong and now when we all thought that he would got eliminated finally tonight, here the grandpa did it again…The same phenomenon with the Melodifestivalen of 2013 that another clique of grandpas ruled.. I have realised how it works…That there are no real favorites & real outsiders here…Anything can happen &… Read more »
Dolly Style please please please!!!!
wow filipa
sorry i mean filina bark!
@ Thiefo
My ears are recovering that
lisa barkk for eurovision 2015
I said this on the AC post. I would’ve been okay with either Linus or Andreas moving on to the final but Linus had an extra spark tonight. I also liked that they changed the musical key so Linus can hit those high notes.
As for Hasse, I enjoyed it today compare to last week. It also helped that he’s got the hometown advantage.
Dinah vs. Dollies? Watching AC right now, I’m giving this to Dinah!
Another thing is: I just can’t stand Filipa Bark! Don’t let her come back next year… or ever! Please Sweden!
The picture WIWIBLOGGS chose is so good
Poor Kristin :<
I wanted Andreas and Kristin in the final, so the only good thing of this first half so far was Loreen, nothing else.
ANDREAS and KRISTIN have both strong voice and amazing staging,,, I have no idea why they were out
Just hopping DOLLY STYLE wins
I preferred Kristin over Hasse. Sweden has eliminated the wrong song this year.
NO KRISTIN?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
