As you budding cosmologists know, a supernova explodes with energy before collapsing into nothing. Well let’s just say those interstellar rules do not apply in Latvia. That’s because Supernova — it’s Eurovision 2015 selection — burned bright, but will keep on burning in 2016. Today Latvia’s LTV announced the rules and regulations for the second edition of the show.

Singers and songwriters of any nationality have until 1 November to submit their applications. (Latvia, like Estonia, has moved the deadline forward this year so it has more time to put together a banging show). In December LTV will announce the twenty acts that will advance to the semi-finals.

At the end of January, prior to the live heats, two-pre-recorded shows will tantalize all y’all with highlights of the selection process. In February we’ll witness two heats, a semi final and the national final, which takes place on February 28. Fans will recognise all of this from last year.

Artists and songwriters can apply here.

Latvia at Eurovision 2015

Supernova 2015 proved to be a huge success, helping Latvia reach new heights at Eurovision. After years of early exits, Aminata made it back to the final and climbed to sixth place — finishing an impressive second with the jury. When delivering “Love Injected” Aminata balanced power with pitch perfect perfection. The professional jury wasn’t alone in loving Miss Savadogo. Ahead of Eurovision, the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals — showered love all over “Love Injected” and its maestro. Here’s what one juror wrote ahead of Eurovision:

Aminata knows who she is and she ain’t changing for nobody. Rather than forcing herself to fit with Eurovision, she’s pushing the contest forward with her distinct, other-worldy sound. “Love Injected” showcases power and restraint in equal measure, and Aminata is so avant-garde she makes Margaret Berger seem pedestrian. The chorus explodes like a nuclear bomb, and her Amazon-inspired dance moves could disarm the most aggressive tribesman. Take note, Europe. A star is born

@Bavarson so you think giving one song 108 extra points and 0 for other would be fair? What the fxck? Where’s logic? You just a mega-addicted Eurovision fan who can’t actually change nothing. If you’re such a big fan stop criticising it and get along with the rules.

Order of performances is very important at the ESC. Those who performed at the beginning, they are in the worst situation, while those who performed at the end, they are in the best situation. These are obvious facts and it is unfair. This should be compensated. Distribution of points should be started from the points for the starting position. Participants appearing at the beggining should get the most bonus points, while participants occurring at the end should get the least points. Example: 1. Slovenia 27 + 130 = 157 2. France 4 + 125 = 129 3. Israel 104 +… Read more »

Here it is the new song of Anouk 🙂
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCT7Rbaax48

Anouk’s country Holland [Netherland} became the very first country in the world that legalized gay marriages 4 homosexuals back in 2001 🙂
The year that we also had the terror attack of 9/11..
Today marks the anniversary of 14 years since then..
R.I.P. to all the lost victims of that tragic day..

I would be happy with Markus Riva as long as he enters with a more upbeat song. As much as I love listening to “Take me Down” on my headphones, it wouldn’t have been captivating on stage in Vienna.
