Last Thursday night, wiwibloggers Mike and Denise went to Amsterdam to meet Dutch TV presenter Cornald Maas. If you don’t know who he is then shame on you (and please read this interview). Cornald hosts his own television show called Opium and on Thursday Douwe Bob — the Netherland’s Eurovision 2016 singer — appeared on the show. Afterwards he had a quick chat with wiwibloggs to talk Eurovision, celebrity and more…
We’ve all seen the picture on Twitter (yes, the half-naked one) where you ask your followers if they like your Eurovision look. You got a lot of reactions from it. Do you already know what you will wear on stage in Stockholm?
I don’t know what I will wear yet, but why are you asking? Don’t you want me to wear the outfit I put on my Twitter? No, I’m still trying to put on new things. I will share some outfit posts with you on Twitter more often.
Cornald Maas told us that you have a song you really like for Eurovision but that the song could still be changed. So has it already changed?
I’m pretty sure we have found the right Eurovision song and it’s still the same one. And, of course, you never know what other songs we will find but for now I’m really happy with this one and I think it won’t be changed. We still have a few months before you’ll be able to hear it. A lot of things can change in those months…
Nice meeting you, @manszelmerlow! pic.twitter.com/FJMgEkAZii — Douwe Bob (@douwe_bob) 26 september 2015
You met Måns Zelmerlöw last week. How was it and what did you discuss? With Måns I just had some small talk. He was a really nice guy so it was great to meet him.
Are you planning on going to Eurovision in Concert? Of course I want to be there. I’m not saying that I will be singing, but who knows. I just know that I don’t want to miss it.
Ben bezig met mijn Songfestival-look. Wat vinden jullie? #esf16 #songfestival pic.twitter.com/Cwls0MHL9U — Douwe Bob (@douwe_bob) September 24, 2015
What else will you do to promote yourself and your song?
I love getting attention and I love flirting with the cameras and with everyone else, so I will do everything I want to do. I will be on the red carpet. Years ago, before being known in the Netherlands, I already wanted to attend a red carpet while wearing a perfect suit to show myself to everyone else and now I’m able to do that. I’ll just see whatever happens once I’m in Stockholm, I’ll do everything I want to do.
Thanks to Douwe Bob for taking the time to speak with us!
By the way: did you know that Douwe has a lot of tattoos? You can see some on his fingers in the picture with Mike above. He also has one behind his ear but everyone thinks it’s his in-ear monitor.
@YoungsterJoey he is far from that. He is a really fun person to talk with and so positive. He really took the time to wish all of his fans a good evening when we were talking to him!
His personality seems very nice and he seems fun to be around. I hope he does well next year!
He seems annoying based on your headlines and subtitles.
At least he gets attention and flirts with cameras the right way and for the right reasons … the same I cannot say for so many so-called artists inside and outside Eurovision, where music is secondary to their attention-desperate-need. Canadian kids being rewarded with #1 hits and awards all of a sudden after the wonderful choices and behaviors publicly exposed with no filter or any kind of shame and regret is truthfully a wonderful way to promote music and its musicians. Has everybody lost the understanding that you only deserve being rewarding after doing something positive and outstanding worth of… Read more »
I love Douwe and hopes he does well. I kind of expected him to be a flirty person anyway and I think his song will steal alot of attention. I kind of want him to win. #godouwe
I guess Douwe is well aware that behind every camera is a camera man
His new single ‘The News’ features the lyrics:
“Hey, have you read the news today
used to be so far away
now it’s coming to our doors
open up to a man, flesh and blood
if there’s warmth in your heart
let it show”
Quite visionary lyrics for a song that’s about one year old.
