Eight of this year’s acts took to the Junior Eurovision state for the first time on Tuesday, November 17. After taking in all the glitz and glam and LED magic, we asked you guys to let us know who impressed you the most that day. After counting 1,166 votes we can reveal that Russia’s Mikhail Smirnov slayed the pack.
Misha came here to sing “Mechta” (Dream) and his dream of winning Junior Eurovision 2015 may very well come true. As we wrote in our rehearsal review, he’s like a mini Dima Bilan on stage. Wearing a rather dapper blue suit, he seems to feel every note and beat, bending and stepping and throwing his arm around like a proper R&B singer. A lady friend in white rocks in a hammock before getting up and stretching out — she’s all pirouettes, spins, and splits. Along with a purple-to-blue sky and plenty of stars, this creates the dreamy feelings he sings about so tenderly. His voice fits the music and the staging quite well. Given Russia’s ever-reliable diaspora, look for this to challenge.
