Christer Björkman has his sights on equaling Ireland’s Eurovision record — and he’ll start the quest in a week’s time with the launch of Melodifestivalen 2016. Ahead of that Swedish broadcaster SVT has today unveiled their 30-second trailer for the show.

Melodifestivalen 2016 Trailer

Unlike last year’s Frozen-inspired trailer, this year’s is a slightly less glamourous affair — perhaps they’re saving some of their budget for the actual ESC? While there’s no sign of any of this year’s presenters, Swedes of all ages glam up and step inside a limousine — but this is no ordinary limo. As it drives off, it stretches on and on, fireworks fly and everyone parties above the limo roof! Reminds us of our time in Vienna.

You can hear the Melfest theme tune being played throughout the trailer, before it ends with the newly revamped logo and the message “Sweden’s longest party”. Given it’s a six-week national selection, we couldn’t agree more!

sweden “gets it”. the songs this year might all be a bunch of trainwrecks a la melodifestivalen 2013 but as long as they put on a good show and everyone is happy why not?

Why is it in English. Why is it not Sveriges Längsta Parti. I’m sure last years was in Swedish.
