He’s a mover and a shaker on the Latvian music scene.
But on Saturday the beautiful Latvian Justs didn’t have to move very far or shake very fast to get to the Eurovision Pre-Party Riga 2016, which was held in his hometown.
Looking every inch the pop star, the 21-year-old slipped into a black leather jacket while he spoke with us about his connection to ESC 2015 star Aminata, the close race in the Supernova national final and his plans for Eurovision 2016.
Interview: Justs at the Eurovision Pre-Party Riga 2016.
His star-studded connection to Miss Savadogo actually started in the ghetto.
And by that we mean he first collaborated with the “Love Injected” singer several years ago in the Latvian singing contest Ghetto Factor, which saw her secure second place and him third.
Justs says he doesn’t feel much pressure after Aminata’s sixth place finish, but he will try to keep her good Eurovision vibe going.
The staging in the national final was pretty simple. While he wants to keep that purity, he says that we can expect some changes to the performance in Stockholm — but he isn’t giving anything away.
Justs clearly owns a lot of leather jackets, and he transitioned from day to night with an orange, slightly distressed jacket that continued his rock star vibe from the press day.
He performed his Eurovision entry, “Heartbeat”, but he also worked two others songs — “Fly Away” and “Ko Tu Dari” — which show him to be a diverse singer, able to rock rock and ballads.
Justs told us that he has listened to a few songs from this year’s Eurovision, but he hasn’t had time to sit down and listen to all of them.
Anyway, we’re sure he will get to know all of them sooner or later, especially with all the other Eurovision pre-parties that are yet to come.
