With only five days until rehearsals get underway, the EBU has now released the full schedule of Eurovision 2016, including rehearsal times, press conferences, show times and other important events. It’s getting close, y’all!
The schedule largely follows the typical format of previous years. The big difference is that the Big Five plus Sweden now start rehearsing earlier, as they’ll be performing their songs live at the jury finals.
After each artist has their first rehearsal, they also attend a press meet and greet, where the artists are introduced to the assembled media. After the second rehearsal, each artist attends a press conference. Team Wiwi will be on the ground at Globen, reporting from the rehearsals and press conferences.
As well as the usual schedule of dress rehearsals for the live shows — as well as the big three live shows themselves — the other big moment to look forward to is the announcement of the grand final running order, expected to be announced late on the evening of Thursday 12/Friday 13.

@Eugene: Good point there.
And yes, the host broadcaster playing God really isn’t fair. Particularly not if you look at Eurovision as a contest (*cough* ESC, you got it right there in the name), but if you see it as a pure entertainment show like Björkman… (Still, he’s trying everything to make Sweden win again, although according to him it’s primarily an entertainment show. Does this make sense? Not really.)
WKBI, The family show is basically the third dress rehearsal and it’s no different to the first and the second jury dress rehearsals.
I was looking at the Eurovision 2016 schedule, and it mentions Family Shows. What are those? Are they any different from the Dress Rehearsals?
Off topic, but since Eugene already mentioned it:
The best way to determine whether a country performs in the 1st or the 2nd half would still be one giant bowl with all 25 finalists (as Sweden was already drawn) and pick one by one (alternately for half 1 and half 2). This way they’d all have the same chances.
@Eugene
i agree with you, just a fair draw and also good luck to you 🙂
i’m really overwhelmed with all this exciting news, Stephane Boko is the creative director for Malta, well their staging is in good hands with Stephane, who has worked with Cirque du soleil and Madonna and Celine Dion
quite big ambitions with Malta this year 🙂
@Steve Gray
Dami Im is an amazing performer, she really slayed on x factor Australia, so i think she can slay on eurovision as well 🙂
also wish my favourite Malta good luck 🙂
Australia is my winner this year love the song.
i’m quite happy with this schedule 🙂 🙂
and to @Jan, i’m 100% confident that Czech Republic will qualify to the final, Gabriela is an awesome singer and i’m sure the juries will also see that 🙂
@Toinou it’s because the Swedish delegation will already be in Stockholm (big shocker I know :P) so they’re using the fact that Sweden will be there earlier to their advantage to get their first rehearsal in early, then others aren’t working so late.
Ian from the philipines, As they’re all on Friday and Saturday, we can film the second rehearsals from the 36 semi-finalists, but we can’t film the first rehearsals of the Big 5. So it’s business as usual, nothing new and rehearsals from the Big 5 will be streamed in the press centre.
Toinou, as Frans would already be at Stockholm by then, it’s a straightforward decision to slot him after Malta on Tuesday evening.
Ok and why will Sweden not be mixed with the other finalists?
Did anyone of you saw the footnote that the first rehearsals for the big 5 would be a ‘closed rehearsal’? Please confirm. It night not be streamed in the press centre
