Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz from Georgia have just completed their first rehearsal of their song “Midnight Gold” at Eurovision 2016. The entire performance was unapologetically colourful, and the boys were serving up some psychedelic ’70s realness. The show sources heavy inspiration from vintage styling but the performance does not feel dated in the slightest.

The mood and style of the performance stays fairly consistent throughout the whole three minutes. The stage is continuously flooded with yellow and purple lighting which creates excitement and engagement.

The boys are classic rockers. There is this air of an uncaring attitude which adds to the vintage feeling of the performance. There is a sense of unity between Nika and the band – feeding off each others energy as they perform. It brings the entire motto of the contest “Come Together” to life.

However, the most exciting part could be the camera choices of the performance. The entire show delivers mirroring, black and white shots and unique camera angles in spades. Along with the lighting choices, it really adds to the excitement of the whole show and makes it enjoyable to watch.

The Georgian entry could potentially be the most surprising in regards to the staging that we’ve had here on day 4 of Eurovision 2016. Everyone should start considering this as a real contender to qualify for the final.

WOW This is my favourite entry this year! and I’m so excited about the good reviews that I don’t wanna see the rehearsal. I’m sure smoking a big joint right before Georgia performs!

Wonderful song. I would vote for Ukraine and Georgia in II semi-final. In grand final I`m going to vote for Russia. I hope Sergey would be in grand final:)

@kris, maybe you have a point here. maybe I’m just worried that Georgia will fail to qualify. last days before semis is very nervous. too much expectations, zero assurance.

@oxana
I think being in the second semi is so much better for these songs……cause there are stronger countries either in terms of song or diaspora or past record in semi 1 than 2……here it’s easier to predict who will go whereas in semi 1 except for Russia Armenia n Malta nothing is set in stone

Hey, Robyn’s there?! Hi, Robyn!

Why is she so under-used in these reviews? I’d love to hear more of her opinions! And Deban’s, for that matter.

My prediction for final after first rehearsals and comments on many eurovison sites 100 % in final 1.Ukraine 2.Australia 3.Latvia 4.Serbia 5.Bulgaria 80% in final 6.Poland 7.Israel 8.Norway Fight for 9 and 10 place between 4 countries 1.Belgium good draw to sing last thanks to SVT and EBU , uptempo song 2.Lithuania don t deseve to be in final, but they have Poland,Latvia,Georgia,Moldova ,Belarus, UK and Ireland to get many points from televote 3.Belarus 4.Georgia I think that 9 place go to Belgium and 10 place to Lithuania thank to diaspora votes. Not chance for final for Denmark,Slovenia, Ireland, Switzerland,Albania,… Read more »

Georgia is surprise this day , like Belarus yestraday and Greece in first semi. Much better rehearsals then many expect from that 3 countries.
Thanks to good draw Georgia, like Belgium given by SVT and EBU reference group , these 2 countries have good chance to go to final.

I really hope they could qualify. My concern is about juries who usually don’t like this kind of entries. But Georgia is bringing something different and that’s good.

too bad they are in 2d semi, it lowers their chances to qualify. I’ll be excited to see Georgia in final, their song is one of my favs this year.

Still haven’t seen this on video but to make a qualifying opportunity out of this, you need to get quite crazy (also creative) on stage.

From what I’m seeing in the headline picture, they seem quite calm and composed.

This is a killer psychedelic song. Whether this guys are a qualifier to Grand Finals (which I hope it will) or not, I am still a fan. Keep on rocking guys and I thank Georgia for sending this band.

I’d rather have this song over Norway’s song

hopefully this gets through, Eurovision needs more songs like this in the final instead of yet another eastern european gypsy moaning about how badly the nazis treated her family 70 years ago

Reactions have been extremely positive to this, which is good – need more variation in the final.

I can’t wait to hear this! The video is KILLER and it is so creative. The revamp pushed it up into my top 10 and I can’t remove it. They’ll stand out for all the right reasons and I HOPE it gets through somehow!
