Her entry “Shine a Little Light” proved to be one of the stand-out favourites of the UK’s national final Eurovision: You Decide. Now former girl group member Bianca Claxton is putting herself through another challenge, this time auditioning for The X Factor.
The Sun is reporting that recently Bianca auditioned in front of the judges in London, giving a “polished performance”. She particularly impressed Sharon Osborne, who is said to have picked Bianca as a potential winner.
Bianca was part of the British girl group Parade, whose single “Louder” reached No.10 in the UK chart. Since then, she had worked on her solo career, and also done backing vocals for artists such as Leona Lewis and Cher.
This led to Bianca entering the new UK national final Eurovision: You Decide. “Shine a Little Light” was not an outright favourite before the show, but after Bianca delivered a confident, emotional performance with flawless vocals, many Eurovision fans had her picked as their favourite.
Former X Factor winner Leona was also one of the co-writers of “Shine a Little Light”, and Bianca will be hoping that some of that success rubs off when her X Factor journey continues.
The X Factor has a strong connection with Eurovision, though usually from former contestants going on to represent their country at Eurovision. The class of 2016 included Dami Im, Francesca Michielin, Highway, and Michal Szpak who had all made a mark on The X Factor before their Eurovision appearance.
In last year’s series of the UK X Factor, Joe McCaul — who along with sister Donna had represented Ireland in 2005 with the song “Love?” — also impressed the judges, but was eliminated at the Six-Chair Challenge.
But if Sharon Osbourne’s reported reaction is anything to go by, it looks like Bianca may have better luck on The X Factor, giving her the second chance fans feel she deserves.
I personally love Bianca that back from anorexia to reach the final. I wish her best of luck.
In my opinion Bianca is so much better than guys who represented Great Britain in this year.
EVERYBODY was robbed at the UK national final, by the BBC’s inept audio mixing. And Joe and Jake were robbed at Eurovision itself by the BBC’s inept staging.
Now Joe and Jake’s career is effectively dead, done, and Dubovie’d, because you know how the UK is to their former contestants. Bianca was lucky she didn’t win.
She had by far the best vocal on the night of the National Final and I hope she does well, but Darline had the best song on the night by far!
She was my favourite in the national final. Good luck to her. 🙂
I’m sure that if Bianca went to Eurovision the juries would have had her top 10 for sure just on her vocal alone. And televoters would have placed her in the top 20 at least.
Sharon usually predicts a high finisher and Bianca could win something like the X-Factor
Thou this wasn’t my favourite song of the selection I was convinced she’d win as she nailed the performance. Let’s hope she is better appreciated at factor.
she was robbed in the national final. i wish her all the best in the x-factor!
Yes yes yes! You go, girl! Was very impressed with her performance at Eurovision You Decide, so can’t wait to see her perform at X-Factor
