Knucklebone Oscar & The Shangri-La Rubies will compete in Finland’s Eurovision national final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailiu (UMK) 2017 with their song “Caveman”. It’s an unashamed party track that urges the listener to “Do the caveman! Wunderbar!”
Channelling the spirit of kitschy 1960s novelty rock, Knucklebone Oscar and the glamorous Shangri-La Rubies deliver a super fun party number, in celebration of getting in touch with one’s inner caveman.
Oscar sets up his situation: “I got no laser, I got no guns/I got the fever burning in my buns”. And you know what happens when someone gots a fever in a pop song.
The chorus comes along with the memorable refrain of the song: “Do the caveman! Wunderbar!” This trilingual extravaganza (there’s also some French thrown in for good luck) knows how to bring the party.
The Shangri-La Rubies set out a manifesto for the good times: “This ain’t no misbehaving/This ain’t no Templar code/This ain’t no fashion feature/This is a life-long show”. I’m glad we cleared that up, then. Wunderbar!
