Tragic news from Sweden. Samir and Viktor, the famous duo who we all know and love from Melodifestivalen for their crazy antics (if not their vocals), have gone their separate ways. Tear emoji, tear emoji, sad face.

In December Warner Music Sweden uploaded Samir’s new single “Vet du vill ha mig” or “I know you want me” to YouTube. They did so using his full name Samir Badran and featuring someone named Kevin, who is obviously not Viktor.

The number has a Bieberesque quality, albeit with a bit more rapping, and Samir seems to work very well with the new man in his life. But devoted fans, such as myself, have noticed the painfully obvious absence of Samir’s brother from another mother. But the song is great. Don’t doubt that for one second!

Samir and Viktor started working together in 2014, back when they were known as the individuals Samir Badran, a former contestant from the Swedish reality show Paradise Hotel, and Viktor Frisk, a well-known fashion blogger.

The boys quickly turned heads with their first single “Success” and made their first appearance in Melodifestivalen a year later with the infectiously catchy (if somewhat cheap) “Groupie”, which was an instant hit among Melfest fans worldwide. The song peaked at #3 on Sverigestopplistan.

They followed their success with “Success” (wordplay!) and “Groupie” with their epic “Saxofuckingfon” that quickly made it to #2 on the Swedish charts. But the delicious duo weren’t done yet. They returned to last year’s Melodifestivalen with the song “Bada nakna”, which in my opinion is their best work. End of story.

However, I do miss Viktor. Where is he? Is he okay? Did they have a fight? Surely they can work it out! There is going to be a big hole in Melodifestivalen’s heart now. There’s always been Samir and Viktor, just like Penn and Teller, Mickey and Minnie, Kirk and Spock. The world seems darker somehow and I feel so empty and hopeless.

Maybe this is a one-off, and they are still going strong, and I’m just being a little bit hysterical here. I’m crossing my fingers and sending boundless requests into the cosmos. Bring Samir and Viktor back together, please!

Regardless of their future plans together, hopefully their hilarious use (and misuse) of English will continue individually. As you can see in the two interviews below — filmed at Melodifestivalen 2015 and 2016 — they appear to have learned exactly no English in the interim. Bless them.

I don’t know much about them, but the mistakes they make simply because they don’t know english, are cute. Not knowing english is not a fault, or maybe soon will be a sin ?

Samir spent a lot of time in the US lately. Surely his English must have improved now?

I dislike these guys with passion, never liked either of their Melfest entries. But I must say this song isn’t half bad, not particularly great, but a lot better than either Groupie or Bada Nakna, maybe they’re better separated.

To be fair, they don’t need to speak English when they look that hot! 😀

Remember that one time Ant and Dec tried to have solo careers and it failed? This is the Swedish version of that

William, you are a MESS for telling those two loonies that their English has improved. You could’ve insulted them and they’d be smiling and taking it as a compliment, ffs.
