On Saturday Slovenia’s search for ManuElla’s successor continued with the second semi-final of EMA 2017, once again co-hosted by the trio of Tina Gorenjak, Maja Martina Merljak and Tanja Kocman.

The remaining eight semi-finalists all performed their entries live for the very first time. Last year’s runner-up Raiven could be considered Saturday’s headline act, as she squared off against lesser known competitors. Another veteran on the scene was Clemens — who replaced original semi-finalist Amaya, who announced her withdrawal from the competition due to other commitments.

After all of tonight’s performances, it was up to the televoting public and juries to decide who will join last night’s qualifiers. In the end Nuška Drašcek, Tim Kores, Raiven and BQL advanced to next week’s final. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to the remaining four acts. We hope to see you back again soon.

The final of EMA 2017 will take place next week on 24 February at a slightly earlier time of 19:55 CET. Mario Galunic will join the ladies as co-hosts. A combination of televoting and regional juries will decide who will be Slovenia’s Eurovision representative in Kyiv. The winner will perform in the second half of the first semi-final of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest on 9 May.

EMA 2017 is very strong. My favorites for the win are “Zazarim” and “Heart Of Gold”, maybe “Fse” as well.

I watched both semis, and for me there were 2 non-generic, creative, original songs: Free World and Flower in the Snow. Free World is out, so I sincerely hope Flower in the Snow will win.The rest does not do anything for me.

Raiven the headline act? What kind of hard drugs do Wiwiblogs editors consume? The show belonged to BQL.

I started losing hope with Slovenia but I found it again: 1st finalist: Nuška Drašcek — “Flower in the Snow”. I said” What?”. I’m not a fan of the song. But her vocals were on point! I was impressed! 2nd finalist: Tim Kores — “Open Fire”. I was like ” What is happening right there?”. I don’t like the song. 3rd finalist: Raiven — “Zažarim”. My reaction: “There we go. Back to normal.” I’m not a huge fan of the song, but the performance was great. It gave me “Love injected” vibes. An interesting song with a strange sound, which… Read more »

So much overhype for Raiven -,- She was good with high notes but really bad while singing normal. The start of the song is just a big fail (sorry). Nuska has great Vocal but song is just bad, nothing special like Omar. Tim, he was good. BQL was a suprise. They were good live (only few mistakes that they can train and fix). The song is really special and with few additions it can be easy in finals.

United Pandaz & Arsello feat. Alex Volasko was one of my favorite, but they sound not good live and stage perfromance was worst of this semi. Tim is suprise me, and he sound great live and stage performance is one of best tonight.
