"He's finally here!" — Michael Schulte celebrates birth of son with wife Katharina Schulte

He delivered a touching performance at Eurovision 2018 and earned Germany its best result since Lena’s victory. And on Saturday Michael Schulte celebrated an even bigger achievement, as he welcomed his first son into the world with his wife Katharina Schulte. Congratulations!

Michael shared the happy news on Instagram, uploading a photo of the babe gripping his finger.

He is finally here!!? After so many days, weeks and months we can finally hold him in our arms! We have never before seen anything that beautiful! He is so sweet and most important a strong and healthy boy! @kikoschulte is also well and she did such a good job! I love you! Both you and our son!??

Writing in the Instagram caption, the “You Let Me Walk Alone” singer said:

“He is finally here!! After so many days, weeks and month we can finally hold him in our arms!”

“We have never before seen anything that beautiful! He is so sweet and most important a strong and healthy boy! @kikoschulte is also well and she did such a good job! I love you! Both you and our son!”

The pair announced their engagement in November 2017 and the news that they were expecting followed in March — just two months before Michael headed to Lisbon for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

They tied the knot in June after Michael took Germany back to the Top 5 for the first time since Lena’s 2010 victory.

The arrival of Michael’s son in many ways brings his personal story full circle.

Michael’s “You Let Me Walk Alone” was a quiet song of personal loss with a very loud impact. It discussed the death of his father at a young age and the sense of loss and mourning that he carried with him into adulthood. But now the boy is a father himself.
