It’s Croatia calling! Tonight the sunny nation will host Dora and select its singer and song for Eurovision 2020.
Yesterday we asked you to vote in our poll for your favorites. Tonight in Opatija sixteen acts will be fighting for the ticket, but you already have your winner.
Our poll accumulated 3,010 votes in less than 24 hours. And Aklea Neon topped it with 964 votes or 32.03% of all votes cast.
Dorotea Zovko, who goes by stage name Aklea Neon, is yet to make a name for herself in Croatia, but her style will be remembered for a long time after tonight’s Dora. The Zagreb-based singer from Osijek describes herself on Facebook as “afro-soul, ethno-beats,(a)live and fully wired woman“.
And her song totally fits that bill. Speaking to vecernji.hr, she calls her song a green anthem as her answer to the fires in our country and all around the world. Her songtitle “Zovi ju mama” translates to English as “Call Her Mamma”.
Coming second with “When It Comes to You” is Mia Negovetić. The Little Big Shots finalist and winner of RTLove Zvjezdice picked up 767 votes or 25.48% in percentages. Her song was penned by two Melodifestivalen winners – Linnea Deb and Anderz Wrethov – and the lady herself. Last year she performed a medley of Dora songs from the past together with the winner of Junior Eurovision 2003.
In third place we have Indira Levak with “You Will Never Break My Heart”. The big favourite to win tonight will sing a song penned by songwriters Doron Medalie, Ambrogio Crotti and Branimir Mihaljević. She earned 313 votes and 10.40% of the overall votes.
