Just hours before the opening credits roll on the third episode of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2021, we can reveal that one act has the backing of the majority of our readers. If their taste is to be trusted, Emmy should comfortably qualify for the MGP 2021 grand final with “Witch Woods”.
Emmy is your favourite to win semi-final three of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix with “Witch Woods”

Do you agree with the results? Could we be in for a shock? Let us know in the comments.
I get the guldpass performances are so much stronger than the first go. Good luck to Emmy and Big Daddy!
Am still leaning more towards Emmy but I feel like Norwegians might vote more for Karsten.
Right, almost time for me to move to TV5 Monde (France). Best of luck to both Norwegian artists in the final duel. 🙂
Kaja Rode – WOW! Those vocals woke me up! A surprise contender for MGP this year, surely. P.S. Can the UK steal her for our entry? 😛
I agree! I really liked that performance- a bit too Loreen with the staging but I agree this has to be a contender.
Yep, it’s like they ran out of budget for her choreography backing, but I didn’t mind because she belted out those notes through a headset! 🙂
I’m unsure about who I want to win between Emmy and Big Daddy. I think the staging for both could be improved but perhaps Emmy has the most potential to be elevated.
Two very different songs but both could do with some staging improvements for sure
I felt Emmy’s was too dark. I liked the flames and the red throne but found it too dark on a whole to properly appreciate the dancers. I did not like that moving image close up of Emmy. The song itself is interesting.
Same here. I’m torn between them. Emmy’s song has slightly more interest for me, but also good luck to Big D Karsten.
I wish I understood Norwegian- Big Daddy seemed to be fun in his interviews and a warm person so good look to him!
Emmy vs Big Daddy Karsten in the final dual. Keeping my fingers crossed for Emmy 🙂
Ole Hartz “Vi er Norge” – This sounds like something I wrote once because I really didn’t like the singer and I was sending a joke. Sadly he took the song and made it his own anyway! I’m not suggesting that this is a “joke song,” I just sense some similarities. Anyhow, Ole is cute, and the crazy theatrical choreography works well here.
Yeah, the song itself is just decent but I really thought he embraced the performance and kitch.
Alright, I think the whole thing is going to be between Ole and Emmy. Currently leaning towards Ole.
Personally I found Ole’s performance the most engaging and I loved his energy! Emmy’s song is more ‘contemporary’ and I love listening to it but the performance felt a bit ordinary (and wasn’t really feeling the ‘effects’, if I can call them that).
Dinaye’s performance was great but the song is just decent. Karsten’s song is definitely catchy but the performance seemed rather stiff.
If only Emmy and Ole were going into the final duel together, that would be a closer race tbh.
Only one of them progressing to the final duel against Karsten
Agreed. I like the MGP format but if there was one criticism its not being able to see what might be the ‘strongest’ competitors go head to head.
Ooh I stand corrected, Emmy went through! I have trouble seeing her not get the guldpass now. :O
“Witch Woods” – Wow, what an interesting song. Great hook and Chorus; loved the choreography. My only bad concern triggered is it risks stereotyping certain people I know in a bad way. They’re not really as bad as that, haha.
Witch Woods is musically really interesting Disney Channel-sounding song which I actually kinda dig. As for the stereotypes, I couldn’t personally tell anyone how to feel, but for me it was pretty inoffensive as any fairytale concept out there. I really don’t think that it was meant to imply anything about the actual Wicca religion. Personally, I love Halloween in general and I would keep witches, ghosts, demons and vampires totally separate from the actual religious practices, which should be respected in their own right. 😉
Yep. Emmy’s in the final duel against Big Daddy Karsten. Tough one. Two OTT choreographies, but with completely different musical styles. Culturally I love bears, of course, but Emmy I think has a more interesting song. So this should duel be interesting.
I agree. Both songs totally rocked on stage. I am personally leaning towards Witch Woods, but good luck to both. 🙂
Emmy and Ole Hartz are duelling together so only one can make it to the final duel tonight… I’ll be happy with either of them winning the final duel tbh
After watching both of them live, I enjoyed them both but very pleasantly surprised with Ole’s performance. Quickly climbing up my favourites list now 🙂
Oh wow, that Big Daddy Karsten performance… Blimey. I mean, thank you to all proud bears out there, I appreciate it. 😀
