Music Binds Us is the name of the Eurovision 2021 grand ginal interval act. It will be a mix of classical and dance music — two of the Netherlands’ biggest musical export products. The interval act will star worldwide famous DJ Afrojack, Dutch singer Wulf, Eurovision 2005 star Glennis Grace and a symphony orchestra made up of young talents.
Last year, Afrojack and Glennis Grace were scheduled to perform at Eurovision 2020 before that contest was cancelled. Meanwhile, a young symphony orchestra had been recruited to bring a special performance.
This year, the artists will come together in a musical extravaganza alongside singer Wulf. The singer — born Lieuwe Albertsma — has become a household name in Dutch music in recent years, appearing in De Beste Zangers last autumn.
Eurovision 2021 Grand Final interval act
In the first part of the act takes place with in film, directed by the Dutch film director Tim Oliehoek. Not only do Afrojack and the classical orchestra play a role in this, but also the singer Wulf. In this film, the centre of Rotterdam is used and the famous Erasmus Bridge is central.
Then things go live to the big stage at Rotterdam Ahoy. Afrojack and Glennis Grace will bring the act to a live musical climax, while the classical orchestra plays on.
Head of Show Gerban Bakker said in a press release:
The act is called Music Binds Us. Music connects, especially in these times. Our DJ’s used to fly all over the world to connect with their audience which is now different unfortunately. With this act we would like to send energy from Rotterdam to Europe and literally reconnect. Not only with the viewers but also with two unique music styles: The famous Dutch dance music and the sound of the classical orchestra.
We want to show the best that The Netherlands has to offer during this edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Not only with Afrojack but also with top vocal talents like Wulf and Glennis Grace. Tim Oliehoek is also one of the best directors of The Netherlands in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what he will create with this unique project. The orchestra consists of young talent and has been formed specially for the Grand Final. After this difficult year I hope that during this act all of Europe can forget the bad times for a while.

Is this something else from Rock the Roof with Mans, Helena Paparizou etc?
A lot of deja vus happening right now. I don’t blame anyone for reusing the ideas of last year, but it rather leads to a comforting feeling than excitement (as I remember I was feeling about this last year). There is also this new sober approach I have to news that sounds great. We all know from the EUs vaccine deals that the big numbers cannot be trusted. If it sounds quick to vaccine the EU for summer, then it probably is too quick. At least some of the backup videos will probably be used and the expectations for a… Read more »
Yes Glennis Grace!! One of the best female voices ever!
Yessss afrojack if only netherlands sent an edm song from their amazing music scene one year!
No Danny Vera with his Rollercoaster?!?
I hope it won’t drag out to 4 hours like Tel Aviv, because I want results! And I don’t want to wait longer than Avengers: Endgame to get there..
I just hope the interval act goes for 50 minutes like it did in Israel.
It’s very nice and all but I find I’m just too excited to find out the results.
Completely unrelated but San Marino’s doing a national final for 2022!
I like this news.
Who ? Who ? And who ?
Seriously…is your ignorance meant to prove something?
It’s all in the article, sweety.
It’s funny you can write, but can’t read.
I can also read that now people take everything so seriously …
Although I am really looking forward to this performance, I don’t understand why they choose to play another act outside the venue. they already have “rock the roof” which takes place outside the venue. I find acts within the venue more fun to see
It sounds great!
And normally I’d agree with you, but this year I think the crowd in the arena is going to be small (or possibly only the green room), so I’m okay with some of this being a film. I’d like it for the other Ladies of Soul the feature somewhere in the final too.
I did read that the interval act for the 1988 concert was a music video, which must have been a bit boring for the crowd in the arena!
1993 wasn’t live either, that’s why the audience were half asleep after Johnny Logan and all those children. Ireland made up for it the next year, of course.
Can you develop your thoughts on that 150 people on stage isn’t possible when the organisers say there maybe could be 3500 in the crowd?
