As we enter 2022, the anticipation for the upcoming national final season is rising. One of the highlights is undoubtedly Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2022.

The field of 28 participants has been completed and we know the running order for the first four semi-finals.

But before the shows kick off on 5 February, we want to know which act you’re most excited about.

Scroll down to vote in our poll

Melodifestivalen 2022 line-up

Browsing through the 28 participants for Melodifestivalen 2022, you are likely to encounter some familiar names. A total of three past Melfest winners are present in the field. These are Anna Bergendahl (2010), Robin Bengtsson (2017) and John Lundvik (2019).

From 2020, the band Lillasyster will make a comeback. Alvaro Estrella will return for a fourth time (2014, 2020 & 2021) and Klara Hammarström is set to complete a hat-trick with three participations in a row.

The other returnees include Lisa Miskovsky (2012), Faith Kakembo (2020) SAMI from Medina (2021), LIAMOO (2018, 2019), Malou Prytz (2019, 2020) and Lisa Ajax (2016, 2017 & 2019). Veteran Shirley Clamp will take part for a seventh time, while Linda Bengtzing counts eight participations now.

Another interesting name is Omar Rudberg, who will perform for a second time as a solo artist (having also previously competed as part of boyband FO&O). Broadcaster SVT was very interested to secure the Netflix star for the competition

A breath of fresh air comes from the debuting artists for Melodifestivalen 2022. These are Anders Bagge, Angelino, Browsing Collection, Cazzi Opeia, Lancelot, Malin Christin, Niello (duet with Lisa Ajax), Samira Manners, Tenori, Theoz, Tone Sekelius and Tribe Friday. Cornelia Jakobs and Danne Stråhed will debut as solo artists.

Poll: Which Melodifestivalen 2022 act are you most excited for?

And now it’s time for you to cast your vote. You can vote for as many acts as you wish, but you can only vote once.

Which Melodifestivalen 2022 act got your vote? Tell us in the comments below why you’re excited about your choice and who you think will win!

Of course, I’m most excited for the new faces: Cazzi Opeia and Tribe Friday, but I’m also intrigued by other acts.
But we’re talking about Sweden, I’m dead certain the winner will be a generic, formulaic and kinda dated song – performed by a pretty face that lacks any personality, that will be a borderline qualifier in the worst of cases, just because it’s Sweden. I hope I’m wrong for the sake of the contest, though.

  • Lancelot
  • Liamoo

Medina is a hip hop duo with two men. There’s no female singer in it. I guess you’re referring to Malou

You got that wrong about Medina. The Danish singer is not part of melodifestivalen. Instead a nice pop music band with rap and milde eastern influences. They reunite for the contest. https://open.spotify.com/artist/3HbP7OfT7PCV0BrR0ReUkC?si=kU6UZ5WyRsaUkz0iNZ–sg

It doesn’t matter who I am excited for. The winner will again be a plastic song from a singer without any personality. And because it’s Sweden, they will qualify even if they stand still in the arena meowing.

This is the harsh truth guys. Their 2021 entry was a a small exception to all of these, but it doesn’t mean anything. This situation will not change any time soon.

With ”most excited” polls, it’s always about whose previous work made you hyped. In this case:

  • Anna Bergendahl
  • Faith Kakembo
  • John Lundvik
  • Klara Hammarstrom
  • Liamoo
  • Malou Prytz
  • Robin Bengtsson

However, knowing Melodifestivalen, a lot of surprises will emerge. I am hyped for the whole thing, actually. 😉

Is this a genuine platform to discover new talents or just a show-off of the biggest music labels’ puppets needing some promotion?

It’s never been about new talent, what do you mean? The vast majority are always established artists.

For me, it’s just a great show in itself. I’d watch it even if it wasn’t a contest.

I hope Lancelot will win. His 2 solo songs are just amazing. Can’t wait for his melo song!

I’m mostly excited to hear the new ones(and maybe Lisa miskovski).
It is just that I can already imagine what kinds of songs the comeback guys will bring and none of them is making me too excited.
But whatever.. maybe the songs will prove me wrong.

Sweden loves sending pretty boys with basic songs to Eurovision. I’m sure if Liamoo or Omar’s song fits the basic criteria (which I’m sure they will) then they’ll probably be heading to Turin.

Malou (w/ Ace Wilder as her songwriter), Cazzi, Samira and Anna!!!

So many in my generation have zero idea Cazzi was the principal writer for so many of their Kpop faves. She’s a sleeper to contend IMO…just listen to Red Velvet’s “Psycho” and “Power Up.” Both amazing songs but completely different. She’s capable of anything.

I know so many of us are excited about the 28 new songs competing in Sweden, but let’s not forget, Azerbaijan brings the 29th song as usual!

Klara because the last time we had a girl for Sweden was 8 years ago and if Mello let her participate 3 times in a row and knowing how much she improved and that she closes the 4th semi… we could expect a lot of from her.
In the other hand, i vote for Tribe Friday for being the most original. We really needed some new faces and music not so generic and they hace their own brand that could make them outstand from the other competitors.

Right now I would say Omar Rudberg has the edge followed by Liamoo. That is how it looks here I Sweden. But as we know things change when it starts..

Oh, Anna Bergendahl seems to be in the lead in the poll now… That’s awesome! I just hope the song will be good enough. In second, Klara Hammarström! I didn’t expect people would be excited about her, but I think she’s gonna be a strong contender. Fingers crossed for my favourites! I just hope that the winning song will be original and different from Sweden’s recent entries. And please, their streak of polished male pop songs should be broken this year!

Tribe Friday by far! An indie group that composed their own song (now thats smth u dont see in mello often)

Will it win? ofc not. Is it smth different from Sweden? Hell yeah! And maybe thats the most important thing cuz mello lacks originality unfortunately.

The Ark wasn’t exactly indie group. They were well-known mainstream group. Their fame was the reason they won.
