The first semifinal of Lithuania’s Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 was filmed on Monday 24 January. This means we now know the nine acts who will appear in first semifinal which will air on Saturday 29 January.

Each semifinal will have nine competing acts and four of them will make it into the grand final of Pabadom iš Naujo 2022, leaving five behind.

With the songs out and the performances fresh on your mind, it’s time to answer one very important question: Who should qualify from Semi-Final 1? Vote for your four favourite in our poll at the end of this post. If you need a refresher, you can scroll down to listen to each of the competing songs.

Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022: Semi-Final 1 competing acts

Elonas Pokanevič – “Someday“

Joseph June – “Deadly“

Gebrasy – “Into Your Arms“

Emilijana – “Illuminate“

Queens of Roses – “Washing Machine“

Gintarė Korsakaitė – “Fantasy Eyes“

Lolita Zero – “Not Your Mother“

Justė Kraujelytė – “How to Get My Life Back“

Erica Jennings – “Back To Myself“

The running order is still unclear, so we have to wait until the broadcast to find out which act will perform when. But we wouldn’t be surprised if Lolita Zero closes the show once again with her artistic vision and unique staging.

Here’s something weird on YouTube. The LRT YouTube channel took down and re-uploaded the heat three live performances. I don’t know why they did that. What are something wrong with the original files?

Lolita Zero will be the only one to get great publicity and votes at Eurovision.

Now that the semi finals have finally been sorted, what do you guys think about Lithuania’s chances now?

It has to be either Monika or Ruta. We have a chance to make an impact with these two entries.

I love Vilija’s song but I would not send it myself to Eurovision. The rest is totally meh.

I absolutely agree, Monika or Ruta now. I prefer Ruta, but I can accept Monika. I hope the rest of the Eurovision community can embrace her.

I think if Monika is chosen, I think she needs to hit the pre-party circuit so that euro fans get a chance to know her

Only care about Lolita Zero here.
If I had to pick another 3, they would be Gebrasy, Queens Of Roses and fourth spot for anyone besides Erica Jennings or Emiljana.

My top 3 is
Lolita zero
Gebrasy
Juste Kraujelyte

I would like Juste Kraujelyte, Joseph June, Gebrasy and Lolita Zero to advance and although I am pretty confident of Gebrasy’s and Lolita’s qualification, I am not so sure about Joseph June and Juste Kraujelyte. It might be that Erica Jennings and the Queens of Roses will take their spots instead simply due to larger fan bases. SF2 will be even worse because it will feature many more fan-favourites.

For Semi-Final 2 I want Monika Liu, Ruta Loop, Moosu X and Ieva Zasimauskaite. Auguste, Mary Mo and Titas & Benas would also be nice but only 4 spots, ughhh! They could have simply made a grande finale of 10 acts instead of 8. I mean it would even make more sense due to the point system (12, 10, 8-1) because now it means that 3 points is least you can get instead of 1 point. :/

For me my 4 qualifiers are (in no particular order):
Gebrasy – Into Your Arms
Joseph June – Deadly
Gintare Korsakaite – Fantasy Eyes
Erica Jennings – Back to Myself
Although this semi is incredibly strong.

Juste, Gintare, Gebrasy and Joseph for me.
Don’t mind most of the others but I think Erica and Emilijana have the weakest songs and are both lucky to have made it this far.

Gebrasy’s song at first glance isn’t as impactful as “Where’d You Want To Go?” from last year, but the way he conveys it keeps growing on me. He’s my PiN favorite right now. Erica, Gintare, and Queens of Roses would be my other three qualifiers.

So it happened what I was fearing… unbalanced semis, even more unbalanced than the heats. Besides Gebrasy, all my favorites are in the 2nd one and 2 of them won’t make to the final.

Yeah, I also feel like this is an unbalanced splitting of artists for the semi finals. There’s a lot of more songs I like that are in the second semi final than this one. I put out my four personal qualifiers, but someone downvoted it. Granted, I usually don’t get bothered by that, but I wrote so many comments that got dislikes in the double digits in the heat 3 article that I really need to make some amends. I don’t want to be a user where you automatically downvote me when you see my name.

Oh yeah, I try to be tactful very much, but even when you’re trying to express your ideas in a nice tone, some people can be so oversensitive that they’ll attack you anyway.

Besides trolls, nobody likes getting downvoted. But it happens to everybody here from time to time. I personally only downvote comments when they’re disrespectful, absurd or are disrupting the conversation. But some people also do it when they simply disagree. In those cases I simply don’t upvote or downvote. It’s just someone else’s opinion after all. In your case, I guess the downvotes came from the fact you insisted on the thought a popular entry would get a bad result in Eurovision. Based on your normal behavior here, I don’t think you were trying to bash Monika, just concerned about… Read more »

If you like Lolita’s song, check out Beissoul and Einius: similar viby style and have an actual songs.
I like the vibe of Gytis’ (Lolita), but dude that’s literally 3 sentences and a killer remix. Even standing still was ungraceful, which is shame for a choreographer (yes, i account the heels)

If I had my way, these would be my four qualifiers:

Of course, this is only my personal finalist quartet. I bet Lolita zero and Erica Jennings will probably go through.

What are yours?

Really looking forward to seeing Lolita Zero again. It is such a brilliant track and the performance has the potential to be iconic. Lithuania would be guaranteed top 10 in Turin if they were to send it. It would be another SHUM – you heard it here first.

Happy to be proved wrong, but this song would have a very large fan base if it got to Eurovision.

Well that “screechy” voice is required in that particular style. What singing style is talking? I think it’s incredibly unfair to compare those two. Everyone can talk. Kate has a craft.

You’ve obviously not heard of Faithless? They had a very successful career performing in this style. It works for me, I find it very effective for the mood of the song.

I respectfully disagree. But if you want, try to give it some sense. I’m curious what you can come up with because you don’t have a lot of material to work with in those empty lyrics.

What it means to me is to embrace your dark side, the part of you that is hidden. It is an empowering song to love all parts of yourself. That part may not be safe or “nice” like a mother typically would be, but it’s important that you embrace it in order to accept your whole being.

I get it, you don’t like it, that’s fine. Divisive songs don’t win Eurovision but history tells us they often do very well. And top 10 in Eurovision would be very achievable for this song.

Please don’t even dare to compare Faithless to that crap. Faithless lyrics were often very poetic and philosophical, therefore spoken like poetry. Lolita mumbling random words and sounds, and rhyming “fire” with “desire”, is not exactly a spoken poetry material. It’s just a sad pile of monotonic trash.

I wasn’t comparing the lyrical content, I was comparing the vocal style, which is undeniably similar. And as I have said above, I do believe there is merit in the lyrical content even if it not high-brow poetry

I hope “Fantasy Eyes” will be among qualified acts. Really good song. “Into your arms” isn’t bad as well, so I wouldn’t mind that one to qualify.

I also hope Lolita Zero won’t qualify. There’s no singing at all.

I think since Conchita people expect from a drag queen to actually be a good singer and not just to appear on stage as a novelty act. Also, nobody is going to be amazed by a drag queen on Eurovision anyway, it’s 2022 outside.

Even for very conservative viewers in conservative countries, drag queens at Eurovision aren’t shocking.

But on the subject of Conchita, what made her revolutionary was that she was a serious entrant with a good song. Rise Like A Phoenix would’ve still done well if Tom sung it out of drag.
