It’s all going down in Spain. On Saturday evening eight acts will sing in the grand final of Benidorm Fest 2022. But only one will survive the night and grab the chance to sing at Eurovision 2022.

The running order order was decided this afternoon during a random draw in Benidorm. Unlike at the recent Eurovision semi-final allocation, acts drew specific spots (so not just first half or second half).

Benidorm Fest Running Order for the Grand Final

1. RAYDEN
2. TANXUGUEIRAS
3. VARRY BRAVA
4. CHANEL
5. RIGOBERTA BANDINI
6. XEINN
7. GONZALO HERMIDA
8. BLANCA PALOMA

Rayden, who finished second in Semi-Final 2, will open the show with his song “Calle de la llorería”. The entry, which inspires a lot of clapping, is a solid opener and should encourage viewers to stick around for a night or quality music and effective staging.

Tanxugueiras, considered strong contenders in the public vote, perform second followed by Varry Brava, who came fourth in the first semi-final.

And then come two of the big favourites: Semi-Final 1 winner Chanel will sing “SloMo” in position four, which Semi-Final 2 winner Rigoberta Bandini will sing “Ay mama” (and wheel her giant breast globe) on stage in spot five.

Xeinn and Gonzalo Hermida compete in spots six and seven.

Blanca Paloma closes the show with her beautiful ballad “Secreto de agua”, which features some stunning visuals, as when the floor becomes a sea of water. Queen of the sea!

i hope in the end the spanish people and one of the two most popular songs have the last word and not this 5 member jury with too much power.
very weird giving the people only 25%.
i understand benidorm as a new beginning and then you need also a good start.

Chanel is an amazing dancer but the song is so forgettable to me. I am someone who values melody over anything in music and for that reason and it’s message Ay Mama is my favourite. It is so original and beautiful. I think it may be an age thing. I’m 44 and all the young folk seem to just care about dancing and looking cool.

Slow mo is their best chance, but i think ay mama is gonna win…

All the songs will be forgotten once they see SloMo. I predict SloMo will go to ESC and do well.

I hope so, but i am afraid they’ll still choose Rigoberta over Chanel 🙁
Spain, please, PLEASE, be wise

Regardless of all the hype I think the competition for televoting is very big and Chanel will lose at least 10 points there, especially since Tanxu and Rayden are together now.

If chanel wins both jurys and end top 3 in televoting she can win it

Hoping that Blanca or Tanxu (with stage changes if that’s possible) will represent Spain, but I’d be okay with Rayden and Chanel winning as well. Maybe even Xeinn if his vocals are stronger.

Xeinn would be just another bottom 5 for Spain and he doesn’t seem to be more ethusiastic about Eurovision than recent Spain representatives who were all just ok with going to Eurovison and nothing more.

Interesting that the running order has the more ethnic sounds first then the faster songs next and ends with the ballads with each ballad getting progressively slower. Not how a producer would want to stack the chairs for a tv show. Christer would not be happy.

I think RTVE did a great job selecting the songs but there’s some fine tuning I would do in future editions in terms of layout of program. Not sure 5 people should hold 50% of the power in votes. Even with international juries at other national finals it’s more than 5 people.

I truly believe that SloMo is the safest chance of Spain returning to the top 10. That’s not a bad thing “safe”, because I worry Terra or Ay Mama just won’t resonate with the audience (and if they don’t clean up their stage performances, with the juries either). SloMo is a lot of fun! Really enjoyable.

Rayden is a great opener, he’s got opener vibes (idk if anyone else understands) and Blanca is also very fitting for her running

The only problem is that we have the two ballads together at the end… but anyway, that’s what luck wanted.

when you have 8 high quality songs, the order cannot harm the entertainment.

Having two ballads at the end is perhaps not how I’d arrange it (I know, it’s a random draw), but they are actually quite different, so it shouldn’t matter.

Secreto de agua – Female vocals, slow, ambiental, deep instruemental sounds in the background, the feeling of floating is evoked, sentimental in a haunting way
Quien lo diria – Male vocals, starts slowly, but has a big belting chorus, and a climax with a lot strings, sentimental in a dramatic way

And it’s a huge contrast to the first three songs of the second semi that all sounded alike back-to-back. 🙂

I think everything depends on how jury votes. Tanxu will probably win televoting, Rigoberta will be 2nd and Chanel will be damaged by at least 10 points, if not more in case Rayden gets 3rd place in televoting. Rigoberta will most likely not win demoscopic jury vote, so there she loses 5 points at least + at least 5 points lost in televoting by Tanxu. It will be very tight race between Rayden, Chanel, Tanxu and Rigoberta and things could turn out well for Rayden/Tanxu if there won’t be too big gap in jury points.

The problem is that it would be very weird that Tanxugueiras get a good result from the jury, as they set them 5th out of 7 in their semifinal. They could maximum set them 4th, considering that Azúcar Moreno are no longer there, if they think that the worst of the 1st SF is better than the best in the 2nd SF (unlikely but feasible). Not enough to win, though. And I think Rayden has it very hard as well.
Sorry to say this, because they were both my two favourites.

I get your point, but max jury points might not all be directed towards one particular participant and the difference in points between first 4 places might be small.

The difference between 2nd and 5th was 3 points. Let’s stop pretending that the jury killed Tanxugueiras when the difference is this low. The difference between places in the televote scores is bigger than that.

Tanxu got first place in the televote in their SF and will get 30 points again in the Final. Let’s see if that’s enough.

And thus continues the unnecessary trend of fan favorites being early in NFs. We already had that enough last year :\

Rayden fans should just vote for Tanxu en masse instead or viceversa – I read somewhere they‘d take Rayden with them if they win, and he takes them with him if he wins!

Actually it makes sense for Tanxu because their performance looks like three backing singers waiting for the main one

I actually think that they both should either vote for Chanel or Rigoberta, because if jury’s votes follow the line of the SF (which is the most logical possibility) neither Tanxus nor Rayden have any chance in the final.

I don’t know why I am getting so much downvoting. Tanxu and Rayden are actually my favourites but I am applying maths in my reasoning, that’s all.

Performing second isn’t a curse in national finals.
In fact a lot of artists won their competition by performing second.
So just stop blaming rtve for everything!

Also, there are only 8 songs performing, not 25, so going second isn’t a cursed spot.
